GGG sounds hilariously awful but I guess this album is all about kitsch for gays so bring it on! Cheap, trashy and a total cash in Cher really is the only icon that could pull this off tbh. Hopefully she comes to the UK for some promo - I have a feeling it will be more successful here than anywhere else. |

I wonder if the unannounced track is actually a new song WITH Abba?

Yeah I can't muster up a huge amount of enthuiasm for this it's very cheap and tacky, like we already have Mamma Mia covers of these songs that are fun and all but this is v year 8 music lesson demo button on a keyboard...

Yes!! Sad thing is I know I'm going to buy it anyway just because it's Cher. I'll probably listen to it once and then put in my CD cupboard and leave it there... just like Kylie's Abbey Road sessions album |

This is so trashy and camp, I love it! I'm going to be in my element if I hear this on a night out.
I love how emphasised that famous melody is; the original is of course fabulous but it feels so much more punchy and pronounced here, much like how it was when Madonna sampled. |

From Vanity Fair:
QUOTE Cher will release “Dancing Queen,” a new album of Abba covers, on September 28, Warner Bros. Records announced today. The singer and actress — who has won Oscar, Emmy and Grammy Awards — was inspired to record the album following her performance in the recently-released hit film, “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” according to the announcement. “I’ve always liked Abba and saw the original ‘Mamma Mia’ musical on Broadway three times,” Cher said. “After filming ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,’ I was reminded again of what great and timeless songs they wrote and started thinking ‘why not do an album of their music?’ The songs were harder to sing than I imagined but I’m so happy with how the music came out. I’m really excited for people to hear it. It’s a perfect time.” The album was recorded and produced in London and Los Angeles with Cher’s longtime collaborator Mark Taylor, who previously produced Cher’s global hit single “Believe.” The tracklist appears below. Cher is scheduled to be awarded a Kennedy Center Honor on December 2 in Washington DC. She is also a co-producer of the “The Cher Show,” the upcoming Broadway musical opening on December 3, and will be touring Australia and New Zealand in September. She is currently performing a residency at MGM Resorts in Las Vegas. “Dancing Queen” tracklisting: 1. Dancing Queen 2. Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) 3. The Name Of The Game 4. SOS 5. Waterloo 6. Mamma Mia 7. Chiquitita 8. Fernando 9. The Winner Takes It All 10. One Of Us Seems like they were waiting for the rights to use 'Fernando' as that is now appearing as the missing track. |

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme #21 on iTunes Wasn’t expecting it to do anything even in a low sales climate! It was number 16 for a whole day. I did not expect to be seeing Cher in the top 20 with an ABBA cover in 2018. I absolutely love this more than I can say. Yes it's gloriously tacky but it's an absolute beast of a song. Her vocal on the chorus gives me life. |

I'll say it again and tell me off if you like but if you want to hear Abba songs then play an Abba album. Simples.

I'll say it again and tell me off if you like but if you want to hear Abba songs then play an Abba album. Simples. Cher's ethereal vocals elevate ABBA songs & take them to the next level. She makes them her own by adding her unique touch. This post has been edited by Voodoo: 12th August 2018, 03:27 PM |
