Afternoon all hi.gif looking forward to seeing where 'Electricity' debuts today.

I'm only going to be able to catch the chart live for two more weeks (cry.gif move back to Sunday plz!!) so might as well do my retro top 3s a couple more times:

2017
01. Camila Cabello feat. Young Thug - Havana
02. Dua Lipa - New Rules
03. Taylor Swift - ...Ready For It?

All female top 3 *.* very rare for my commercial favourites to be so pop-heavy in recent times but yeah, those were three of my favourite 2017 pop songs in general. 'Havana' overthrows 'New Rules' this week, I wasn't expecting much from Camila's solo career after 'Crying In The Club' didn't do thaaat much for me (was a bit too Sia wannabe, although it grew a bit), but wow 'Havana', what a way to put your stamp on the music industry! Love the latin influences and that infectious catchy chorus. She sells it so well for live performances too! Gosh 'Too Good At Goodbyes' was an insufferable #1 single though. This time last year I was in Lincolnshire for 2 weeks of work experience so they were absolutely spamming it on the radio in the office... drama.gif

2013
01. Lana Del Rey vs. Cedric Gervais - Summertime Sadness
02. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Mary Lambert - Same Love
03. Klangarussel feat. Will Heard - Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine)

Aww 'Same Love' wub.gif I was obsessed with it throughout summer and remember being thrilled that it took off due to an awards show performance, I'd like to say the VMAs? A very touching message and important subject. It felt so progressive at the time, can't believe that was already 5 years ago.

2008
01. Kings Of Leon - Sex On Fire
02. The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved
03. Rihanna - Disturbia

I somehow never got sick of 'Sex On Fire' despite it being EVERYWHERE at the time. It felt so refreshing in the chart and I still appreciate that soaring chorus. I wish 'Use Somebody' had reached #1 too! I don't think I've ever heard that Cliff song in the top 3 before mellow.gif laugh.gif

2003
01. Blu Cantrell feat. Sean Paul - Breathe
02. Ultrabeat - Pretty Green Eyes
03. Dido - White Flag

Same as last week. That top 10 just feels SO 2003 with both Gareth Gates and Big Brovaz in the mix laugh.gif

1998
01. Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You
02. Robbie Williams - Millennium
03. Jennifer Paige - Crush

Same #1 as last time as it'll take a lot to overthrow the sublime Stardust but I like 'Millennium' a lot, it was a very grandeur Robbie single! I remember my mind being blown when I found out that it was from 1998 as I always presumed it was from the early 2000s to capitalise on the new millennium. x

If Sam & Calvin keep the top spot and Dua makes No. 2 that will be a (sort of) replica of the Top 2 from a year ago which would be pretty cool!

Sigala, Ella Eyre & Meghan Trainor featuring French Montana
Just Got Paid
Brighter Days | 2018

8th Single
Released: 7th September 2018
Label: Ministry of Sound Recordings / B1 Recordings

Biography

Sigala
Sigala is the musical nom de plume of Bruce Fielder, a London-based house DJ, producer, and remixer. Born and raised in Norfolk, England, Fielder began playing piano as a child, and played in various bands after graduating university. He found work as a producer, and co-wrote Ella Eyre and Sigma's 2015 U.K. hit single "Good Times." His first solo single as Sigala was "Easy Love," an energetic house tune built around a sample of the Jackson 5's iconic hit "ABC." Released by Ministry of Sound, it entered the U.K. singles chart and shot up to number one in its second week. Fielder's second single, "Sweet Lovin'" (featuring singer/songwriter Bryn Christopher), hit number three and was certified gold or platinum in several countries. Several more hits followed in 2016, including "Say You Do" (featuring Imani and DJ Fresh), "Give Me Your Love" (featuring John Newman and Chic's Nile Rodgers), and "Ain't Giving Up," a collaboration with Craig David that appeared on his sixth album, Following My Intuition. In 2017, Sigala co-produced the single "Show You Love" with Danish DJ Kato, sung by Hailee Steinfeld. He then paired with singer Paloma Faith for the 2018 single "Lullaby." - iTunes

Ella Eyre
By the age of 19, the powerfully voiced, BRIT School-educated Ella Eyre had already been featured on a U.K. number one single. "Waiting All Night" combined an intense performance from Eyre with the inventive production skills of fellow Londoners Rudimental. Issued to coincide with the drum'n'bass act's debut album Home -- also an instant number one record -- the success of both releases was reinforced by Eyre's involvement in a spring 2013 Rudimental U.K. tour. While "Waiting All Night" wasn't her first appearance on record, it significantly raised Eyre's profile and also helped to vindicate Universal's decision to sign her to their newly established Virgin EMI label. Those who were in anticipation of her debut solo material in the meantime sought out Other People's Heartache, Pt. 2, a 2012 download-only mixtape by rising London alt rock act Bastille that featured Eyre on two tracks: "No Angels" and "Free."

Her own singles soon began to hit the charts, including 2013's "Deeper" and a pair of Top 20 hits in 2014, "If I Go" and "Comeback." By the end of the year, Eyre had finished work on her debut full-length Feline, featuring an array of producers (Ilya, DJ Fresh, Sigma, Sigala). The album appeared in February 2015, peaking at number four in the British chart; soon after, the single "Together" became her third Top 20 hit in less than a year. A 2017 collaborative single with Sigala called "We Came Here for Love" arrived in early 2017, reaching number six on the U.K. charts. It was followed later that year by the single "Ego," which featured Ty Dolla $ign. Also in 2017, Eyre participated on the Artists for Grenfell charity recording of "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

Meghan Trainor
Scoring her first hit at 20 years old with the dance-friendly paean to body positivity "All About That Bass," American singer/songwriter Meghan Trainor topped the charts with a retro-pop sound that won her a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2016. Up until that point, she had already devoted most of her life to music. Born in December 1993, Trainor was raised on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts, where she began making music when she was seven, and wrote her first song at the age of 11. Trainor attended high school at the Nauset High School on Cape Cod; there she sang and played trumpet in the jazz band, and also studied guitar, taking lessons from Johnny Spampinato, noted guitarist with NRBQ and the Incredible Casuals. In addition, Trainor played guitar and keyboards, and sang with a local Nantucket band called Island Fusion for four years. She attended the Berklee College of Music's Performance Program, a special five-week course, in 2009 and 2010, receiving high marks and reaching the finals of their songwriting competition. By the time she was 18, Trainor had self-released three albums of her own material and landed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music (who placed her songs with artists such as Rascal Flatts, Macy Kate, Common Kings, and Sabrina Carpenter) before she signed a deal with Epic Records.

Trainor's first single for Epic was "All About That Bass," in which she proudly declared she's "no stick figure silicon Barbie doll," and "every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top." The pastel-colored video for "All About That Bass" became an online sensation, racking up over 1,600,000 views on YouTube within a month of its debut in June 2014. Soon, "All About That Bass" stormed up the Billboard Hot 100, reaching the pole position not only in the U.S. but throughout the world. As it racked up eight weeks on the top of the U.S. charts, it wound up getting certified five-times platinum, selling over four million copies in America alone; international sales reached over six million, cementing "All About That Bass"' status as one of the biggest singles of 2014. In comparison, its sequel, "Lips Are Moving," paled, but it was still a notable hit, reaching four on the Billboard charts and earning double-platinum certification, setting the stage nicely for the January 2015 release of Trainor's debut, Title. The album promptly hit number one in multiple countries. Her third single from the album, "Dear Future Husband," reached number 24 on the U.S. singles chart. A contribution to the Peanuts Movie soundtrack, a co-write on Rascal Flatts' single "I Like the Sound of That," and most significantly, a Grammy nomination, rounded out her impressive year.

A few weeks before the March 2016 release of "No," the first single from her second album, Trainor won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. The following May, she released her sophomore studio album, Thank You, which included the hits "No," "Me Too," and "Better" (featuring Yo Gotti). In 2017, Trainor released the single "I'm a Lady," which appeared in that year's computer-animated adventure/comedy film Smurfs: The Lost Village. In February 2018, Trainor released "No Excuses," the lead single from her upcoming third album.

Biography

MK
During the '90s, Marc Kinchen, known commonly as MK, was one of the most idiosyncratic house producers, tempering his feel for soulful New York-styled garage with the energy of hard techno, learned from time spent working in Detroit at Kevin Saunderson's KMS Studios, while he added his uniquely dubby touch. After he attained significant success in the clubs, he moved toward the mainstream, worked closely with the likes of Will Smith and Pitbull, and eventually returned to the clubs as a sought-after producer, remixer, and DJ within the realm of commercial house music.

Kinchen's first production credit was "First Bass," as part of the group Separate Minds with Terrence Parker. The track was released on the 1989 KMS compilation Techno-1. Kinchen also recorded several singles as MK before he moved to Brooklyn in 1991, formed his own Area 10 Records, and released the single "Burning." The track became a moderate club hit, and led to remixing for the Shamen, Tom Tom Club, the B-52's, D-Influence, and, most notably, the Nightcrawlers, whose "Push the Feeling On" was transformed by his "dub of doom." Soon, Kinchen was one of the hottest figures in house music, and he signed to Charisma for an album deal. Kinchen's full-length debut was 1993's Surrender, credited to MK Featuring Alana (aka Alana Simon) and featuring the singles "Always" and "Love Changes," which became deep house club hits worldwide. Kinchen continued to remix for a motley assortment of artists -- Pet Shop Boys, Opus III, Ethyl Meatplow, Jodeci, and Brandy among them -- and recorded both as himself and 4th Measure Men.

After a lengthy retreat from house music that began in 1996 and entailed a close association with Will Smith, Kinchen easily resumed activity as a producer and remixer of club music, and as a DJ. During the early 2010s, he racked up dozens of remix credits for high-profile pop artists, including Lana Del Rey, Sky Ferreira, and Sam Smith. However, it was his remix of an underground track -- "Look Right Through," by Morgan Geist and Damon Scott's Storm Queen -- that was most successful, as it reached number one on the U.K. pop chart. Around the same time, there was renewed interest in Kinchen's early work, compiled by the Defected label's ITH division as part of its House Masters series. In 2015, Kinchen released "Bring Me to Life" (featuring singer Milly Pye) as the first single from an album he was preparing. Among the remixes was one carried out by Dantiez Saunderson -- the son of Kevin Saunderson. A second single appeared in 2016. "Piece of Me" featured Becky Hill on vocals and the remix EP included versions by Groove Armada and the Saunderson Brothers.

Jonas Blue
London-based electronic dance producer Jonas Blue (born Guy James Robin in Essex, England) caught the attention of the industry with his reimagining of Tracy Chapman's 1988 hit "Fast Car." Adding a tropical house tint to the plaintive, bittersweet acoustic original, Blue enlisted the talents of young British singer Dakota, whose sultry vocals helped carry the song to the top of 17 international charts, including number one slots in Australia, Scotland, and both the U.K. and U.S. dance charts. In 2016 Blue released "Perfect Strangers," the follow-up to his global smash, featuring JP Cooper on vocals. The single landed in the Top Ten internationally and was followed by "By Your Side" with Raye. The following year he issued "Mama," his collaboration with Australian pop vocalist William Singe. That track would appear on Electronic Nature: The Mix 2017, a compilation of favorites from the DJ's own live sets. In addition to his own hit singles, the collection included his spins on songs by Galantis, Zedd, Ellie Goulding, Disclosure, and more. In 2018, Blue released the feel-good house-pop tune "Rise," which saw him collaborating with Nebraskan Vine stars/pop duo Jack & Jack. - iTunes

Becky Hill
Rebecca Claire "Becky" Hill (born 14 February 1994) is an English singer and songwriter from Bewdley, Worcestershire. She rose to prominence after appearing on the first series of The Voice UK, auditioning with John Legend's "Ordinary People". She joined Jessie J's team and reached the semi-final of the competition. On 29 June 2014 she became the first The Voice UK contestant to score a UK number 1 when the song, "Gecko (Overdrive)" with Oliver Heldens topped the UK Singles Chart. - Wikipedia
