It adds something to a single release having a feature and a slightly different mix, it feels more like an event and like we get new music through the era almost. Rather than just knowing x or y is going to be the single 2 months before and all we have is "omg it went up 2 places to #29 on iTunes!1!1", I know it's not much just adding a verse or some little production flourishes but it at least re-invigorates a single a bit for me and I love having those Fridays where we have something new to listen to and get excited about.

I really don't see why it's an issue at all as long as we get good music, which we undoubtedly are. If you don't like the retooled collab versions, the originals are still there.

It's because we live in unfortunate times where having these features makes it appear on the featured artist's Spotify page too.

I've been thinking about their first week numbers. Unless something drastic happens with sales or someone huge releases out of the blue on the 5th or the 12th, realistically they'd need about 60k sales to debut at #1 and about 35-40k to be top 5. Only You got off to a rough start but I'm sure their lead single will get better Spotify placement and pretty much better everything that release did. I wish they had the video ready to go for those extra streams but that obviously won't happen.

Do lyric videos count towards the chart if they're uploaded by the official channel or does it have to be the official video?

Yeah, as long as they have SOME sort of promo for the first week, be it a video or a performance somewhere - and they get instant Hot Hits and a good new music Friday placing on Spotify as well as instant R1 and Capital support (which I think it will) it could be an easy #1 for them.

It seems to be getting more hype than 'Only You' ever did, which was fairly muted upon release, there wasn't really a buzz around that release at all.

QUOTE(Seinfeld @ Oct 1 2018, 02:20 PM) *
Including Kid Ink for Touch is really stretching it though (I forgot it existed and probably only heard it once).

I would have agreed if it had remained as a bonus release on the side, but it ended up being upgraded to second track on the Platinum Edition album, thus demoting the original version off the physical and pushing the original way down the track list on digital platforms. I think that's enough to consider the Kid Ink version as being a prominently presented version of the track. I never meant to imply that it (or Oops) was on the same level as the other songs listed though (that's why I added notes alongside them!)

If you don't like the retooled collab versions, the originals are still there.

It's not about that for me because I don't actually dislike any of the collaborations, musically speaking. Which may make some of you think, "well what's the problem then?". It's literally about the quantity of them in quick succession, and the fact that it's these versions that are presented in music videos/radio play - so collaborations have been a near constant focus for quite a while now, and I'm finding it to be gimmick that is wearing a little thin at this point.

The desire for another Little Mix single that is solely them is meant to be a positive request out of love for them as a very talented group! It's not meant to come across as the moaning of a hater (if anyone feels that this is the case).

Anyway, as an aside from all of that - I'd definitely regard Nicki Minaj as being their most major collaboration to date, so good on them for achieving this career goal. Hopefully Nicki brings it, because a lot of her features have been very phoned in recently. If this could be a "Side to Side" (in terms of the song feeling like both main artist & feature artist truly belong on it) then I'm all for her involvement. Fingers crossed.

I agree and hope we get a single that's just them next. But I do think it's a problem across the board not just with Little Mix, it seems like all mainstream pop acts these days have 50% (or more) of their songs having features.

Actually sounds promising! They could do great with this.

Not that it's difficult, but I know I'll like this more than SOTME already.

I love this demo so much.

Let’s just hope Nicki doesn’t ruin it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nicki’s rap is her best feat since Swish Swish.

I was kind of hoping it would be on the Swish Swish level because even though I think that song is terrible, Nickis verse is a standout for me from her recent stuff

This I can get on board with. wub.gif I'm already bopping to the Jess Glynne demo after only hearing it twice (that pre-chorus is an earworm for sure), even if her vocals are slightly offputing. Plus Nicki's rap in Swish Swish is incredible and probably the highlight of the track. Roll on the 12th.

I really like the sound of the demo, as much as I can with Jess screeching all over it laugh.gif Her voice just does not fit stuff like this at all. You can tell that it's going to be a bop with the girls on though and you can almost hear a good Nicki verse on it already, really excited to hear it.

I really wish this was coming on the 5th. Hearing all the snippets we’ve heard and seeing the single cover and everything has me really excited for this era and I’m ready for it to start.
