August, 2007 Chart Peak: #4 (in 2012) Weeks on Chart: 14 weeks Year-End 2012: #101 This was a tough one to distinguish which decade it really belongs to because while this song first debuted in 2012 it was originally released in 2007 but it just never charted. "Harder Than You Think" was boosted up the charts thanks to being used as the theme tune to the 2012 Paralympic Games coverage on Channel 4 and it managed to become Public Enemy's highest-charting single ever and after 18 top 100 hits they finally reach the Top 10 and have a song last longer than 10 weeks on the chart. October, 1996 Chart Peak: #9 (in 1996) Weeks on Chart: 41 weeks Year-End 2010-2017: xxx-491-xxx-175-381-289-xxx-xxx In a surprising return to the chart Blackstreet and Dr. Dre owe much of their success (if not all of it) to Pitch Perfect as the song resurfaced after being covered in the movie by Anna Kendrick and the "Barden Bellas". Since then the song has resurfaced numerous times and in fact it seems somewhat strange for it to not be higher than this given that "No Diggity" seems to return to the Top 100 every other week. Perhaps more unsurprising is that due to its' short original chart run, the song has only managed to collect around 496k points to date. The song first entered the chart in the same week as "Just Dance" was spending its' second of three weeks at Number One, and from that moment started its' lengthy consecutive Top 100 run which included a whopping 34 weeks in the Top 40. Whether it's Gaga's biggest song yet will have to remain a mystery for now but it has an estimated 2275k points to date so I definitely wouldn't be surprised if it took the Gaga crown. Joined: 14 February 2009 Posts: 115,075 User: 8,300	The new rule banning 3+ year old songs from going back to SCR has probably completely ended any hopes for 'Fix You' to ever return to the top 40 again :'( after quite a few times it has resurfaced and got as high as the 40s or 50s.

One one hand I like seeing some older songs returning to the chart but I'm also fed up of the same songs coming back and back again to the chart (i.e. "Mr Brightside" and "Chasing Cars") and wish we'd get more "freshness" in that department too lol.

This was of course Joe's inauguration song as the winner of The X Factor 2009, a cover of Miley Cyrus' song "The Climb" (No. 2323 on the full chart). While Joe has not really been a hit machine, this song has still managed to shift 351k to date. Unlike Public Enemy however this song had been recurring and collecting more than 50 weeks on the chart prior to its breakthrough so it was very easy for me to mark this down as a 2008 song rather than a 2012 one. Thanks to a lengthy chart run this song has a total of 1145k to date. Although this version has only gone once to number one, all the revamps have done so as well for a combined total of THIRTEEN weeks in the top spot. The original version of "Do They Know It's Christmas" has sold a very impressive total of 1.74m to date but if all versions are combined we have a monstrous 4.83m sales all-in-all.
