Actually possibly more hyped for this week's episode than last week's purely because this is where we properly START: first alien planet, first glimpse at the opening titles and first glimpse at the TARDIS?? (please). Although, it is the second episode which means it follows in the footsteps of the The End of the World and The Beast Below. When trying to find an image for the OP, I glimpsed a couple of spoiler-free reviews which suggests it does follow those two episodes as it's still introducing the characters with it being a fairly average episode overall without a particularly memorable monster/villain. I did see mention of a series arc which I'm surprised about though!

I'm really hoping for the TARDIS this week (as well as the opening titles)

I'm hoping we don't get the Tardis and that is the season arc. It'd be really refreshing! I don't mind no credits. It makes it more mature. We can have them as like the reward when they find the Tardis ... at the end.

Boo, credits :sideye:
Was hoping we wouldn't get any all season to make it more mature. Still FAAR better credits than the amateur Capaldi ones. |

At least they were in their proper place at the beginning of the programme rather than ten minutes in. And they had more than a small nod to the original programme's background. |

Love the Tardis interior and the core If anyone noticed the opening credits it was missing something, I should imagine the Tardis will be featured in next week's opening credits.
As for the episode, it was a bit of a damp squib, always get the odd one or two, I found it more of a filler to set up the characters up for the series. Hoping the stories will improve from next week. |

Another excellent episode. The only problem is the bad actors The boy and Bradlet Walsh are wooden as planks. Absolutely awful actors. They pull Jodie down, as she has nothing to bounce off. I heard the season arc!!! Something about a time child - the master?! |

I thoroughly enjoyed that episode! It's not going to go down as an all-time classic, but it's a more than serviceable first proper episode for the new TARDIS gang. Enjoyed the interaction, Ryan is standing out as my favourite so far, still really like Yaz and Graham is growing on me lots too! Jodie is still the shining star though The plot was easy enough to follow and I found it pretty enjoyable overall.

oh didn’t think last week’s villain would be mentioned again - don’t think Tim Shaw/the Stenza are strong enough to be a series arc/returning villain but hopefully there’s a lot more to them that we haven’t seen

An enjoyable watch Yaz is my favourite and Grahame and Ryan are good too. Jodie is amazing as the doctor though. Oh and I loved the titles/tardis interior.

My reservations about the theme still stand, even with the new opening credits. It just didn't feel epic enough for me.
A perfectly decent episode, I like the new TARDIS design. Darker than I would expect, but any console that gives out custard creams when it time leaps is a good one in my books. |

If anyone noticed the opening credits it was missing something, I should imagine the Tardis will be featured in next week's opening credits. I doubt it. They'd already shown the TARDIS exterior in promo shots so I doubt they'd have chosen not to include it in any of the credits for whatever reason - they look great without chasing the TARDIS around a vortex. I really enjoyed that episode. Once again, it seemed like the alien threat took a backseat compared to everything else that happened in the episode, like last week. I feel that's going to be a recurring theme in most of Chibnall's scripts since he does seem to be pushing character development a lot, which isn't a bad thing at all. A lot of the reviews I'd read about the episode though suggested it was pretty forgettable, uninteresting, boring, etc and while I certainly wouldn't say it'll go down as an absolute classic, it was none of those things for me. The TARDIS interior too, love it! |

I really enjoyed that episode. Again, it was straightforward with a bit of mystery and the pacing was great. It also felt like a pretty alien planet, moreso than a lot of previous attempts. I think the cast are really gelling well with one another. I like that Jodie is not playing the Doctor as some know it all Dick (Capaldi) and that the companions aren’t overly confident (Amy/Clara) and I hope things continue to be this good! I don’t see any issues with the acting. Bradley Walsh in particular is quite understated compared to how he can be.
