Dexton's Top 40 (06/11/2018) (Week 78)
- Jon Bellion's Stupid Deep debuts at #1. His past two releases (also in the top 3 this week) debuted at #2 and #3 - Week 54632062 of limited-to-no chart commentary, the light at the end of the tunnel seems dimmer than ever before - Halsey (5-4) and Khalid (8-5) continue to climb giving him his 8th top 5 hit with Better - Little Mix struggle but succeed in making Woman Like Me their 4th top 10 hit - So so so many new entries this week with a bit of a reshuffle. Joining Jon Bellion's debut at the top there are Ariana Grande, Panic! At The Disco, Benny Blanco, Imagine Dragons, Clean Bandit, Dua Lipa & BLACKPINK, Petit Biscuit, and Normani & Calvin Harris. Most of these artists have multiple previous chart hits under their belt, aside from BLACKPINK and Petit Biscuit who are making their chart debut - George Ezra returns to the #1 in the albums chart for the first time in roughly 6 months - Takeoff hasn't impacted the singles chart yet but does debut at #3 with his album The Last Rocket, curiously without any features (or uncredited features) - Pink's Funhouse also debuts in the week of it's 10 year anniversary! I haven't bought a vinyl or anything in celebration but I've listened through a few times A Million Dreams also aids this' resurgence too Thanks for coming Top 40 Songs (#78) 01 00 Jon Bellion — Stupid Deep [1] 02 01 Jon Bellion — Conversations With My Wife [3-1-2] 03 02 Jon Bellion — JT [2-3] 04 05 Halsey — Without Me [13-8-6-5-4] 05 08 Khalid — Better [33-29-22-22-10-8-5] 06 03 Imagine Dragons — Zero [28-16-5-3-6] 07 03 Birds Of Tokyo — Unbreakable [1-1-2-1-1-4-7] 08 06 Rita Ora — Let You Love Me [17-8-3-3-2-6-8] 09 11 Little Mix — Woman Like Me (feat. Hey Dexton!
Talk about someone hogging the Top 3 so I finally heard all three Jon Bellion songs and 'Stupid Deep' is definitely the best of the three is his album out before the end of the year? I'm a bit underwhelmed by the new Ariana song, I can't see why it's doing so well tbh. Maybe I just need to listen to it again? I kinda feel the same about the Benny/Calvin collab although I can see the appeal of that more. 'Baby' wasn't as instant for me as other Clean Bandit singles but after a couple of listens it's starting to hit me. I'm not entirely sure Marina's voice works on it but it is a nice chorus and quite a nice sound in general. I can see it challeneging for #1 although what surprises the Christmas market is going to throw up this year is anyone's guess! 'Machine' is another great teaser for the ID album, but I'm still all over 'Zero' atm Good to see Little Mix sneak into the Top 10, I think it's a decent pop song, not sure why it's getting so much negativity tbh! Great chart as always |

Hello Dexton!
Nice to see the Jon Bellion top 3, also I like seeing "Woman Like Me" in your top 10, the huge gain for "Sunflower" and the debuts for "I Found You", "Machine", "Baby", "Kiss And Make Up" and "Slow Down"! Great chart! |

Great chart as always Hey Mango! Stupid Deep is amazing *.* His album is out tomorrow! Between that, Imagine Dragons, and now Ariana Grande (maybe) expect a bit of a messy chart next week Thank u, next has really grown on me this week, shame it's not doing much for you I'm not feeling Baby as much as any of their previous singles tbh :/ It will probably grow on me a lot over the next few weeks/months but this is Clean Bandit's lowest debut (by far) here Woman Like Me is a bit strange, I like it but I really have to be in the mood for it otherwise I can't sit through it Thanks for commenting! Hi Dexton I'm afraid I've not really heard any Jon Bellion songs away from All Time Low
04 05 Halsey — Without Me [13-8-6-5-4] This has really hit me now, pleased it's becoming her first solo hit! (although justice for New Americana) 05 08 Khalid — Better [33-29-22-22-10-8-5] 08 06 Rita Ora — Let You Love Me [17-8-3-3-2-6-8] 09 11 Little Mix — Woman Like Me (feat. Nicki Minaj) [21-16-11-9] 12 00 Ariana Grande — Thank u, next [12] 13 10 Pink — A Million Dreams [10-13] Love this cover! The original was probably my favourite Greatest Showman chart hit anyway but this is much more accessible for my tastes. 16 12 Silk City & Dua Lipa — Electricity [26-18-17-8-4-7-12-16] 17 19 Ava Max — Sweet But Psycho [19-17] 18 13 5 Seconds of Summer — Valentine [40-25-14-10-8-13-18] 20 27 George Ezra — Hold My Girl [28-xx30-27-20] 21 29 Alesso & Conor Maynard — Remedy [40-29-21] 24 35 Post Malone & Swae Lee — Sunflower [35-24] 26 15 Marshmello & Bastille — Happier [1-1-1-2-2-4-3-4-5-9-15-26] 31 00 Clean Bandit — Baby (feat. Marina and the Diamonds & Luis Fonsi) [31] Not as good as the other singles this era but still great! 34 16 Sigala, Ella Eyre, & Meghan Trainor — Just Got Paid (feat. French Montana) [35-23-20-16-15-14-16-34] 35 00 Dua Lipa & BLACKPINK — Kiss and Make Up [35] 37 22 Dean Lewis — Be Alright [40-29-27-19-7-5-6-3-2-4-6-9-15-22-37] 40 31 DJ Snake, Selena Gomez, Cardi B, & Ozuna — Taki Taki [39-35-31-40] Great chart!! |

Hey Joseph! Jon Bellion is so underrated (but at the same time I'm glad he's not spitting out top 10 hits every week) Not by me though, I'll be doing this weeks chart in a few hours and at this rate he could occupy the entire top 10 Ed Sheeran could never Without Me is amazing I can't believe how fast it's gone top 10 in the UK either, really wasn't expecting that for her but she more than deserves it! New Americana was the song that got me into her in the first place! I can't say I've gone back to it much since then though A Million Dreams was my least favourite chart hit originally tbh I much prefer this version and so glad it's taking off - bittersweet if this becomes a bigger hit than Beautiful Trauma though Baby is good but i'm not really feeling it too much :/ Marina sounds great but it's just not clicking with me as much as any of their previous singles Thanks for commenting! |

Need to get on the Khalid Better train this week, just realised when doing my roundup that I haven't actually charted it yet and it's one I like!
Other highlights for me here: Sun In Our Eyes which top tenned for me a few weeks back, Kiss and Make Up and Slow Down. Don't know a lot about Jon Bellion (know the name from at least one feature...I want to say, Above and Beyond maybe?) so will give those a blast. And also, your format! Looks like a lot of work, looking good! |

Looks like a lot of work, looking good! Better has really hit me lately Khalid can never go wrong with me tbh, he’s had a few low charting songs (and a few non-charters like OTW and Young Dumb & Broke) but I really love a lot of his discography! Sun In Our Eyes sounds great in the sun! Jon’s never worked with Above & Beyond but he was on Zedd’s Beautiful Now! He’s also worked with Vice, B.o.B, Logic, Oljvolta, and a few others over the years. By the way, this is last weeks chart My latest chart is here http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=217000 and features an entire top 10 of Jon Bellion My format has become even more “complex” with the addition of a top 50 now Thanks for commenting! |
