Honestly I'm disgusted it won best picture.
Yay for all this me too and improvements in the industry, let's celebrate by having a film directed by a pedo sexual predator win best picture  Idec if he's not being mentioned in speeches or turning up, it's still his film. I hope off the back of this success that the esquire article that got blocked about him around the film's release comes out.And I have a hella lot of problems with the film as well. Apart from Malek (who's nom worthy), the film should be NOWHERE near award season. It's basic af. This and green book are such basic winners in fab categories. Hopefully backlash from globes sink them both like it's done to 3 Billboards and La La Land recently. The amount of hate LLL got for having 'a white saviour narrative' whereas BR is directed by a sexual predator and manipulates so many events and gets like no hate. I'm so angry. And dw I've basically had a full on breakdown in the Facebook chat (after Craig's meltdown about Gaga losing x) so this is nothing compared to how I'm feeling rn. As much as I love a star is born, there was still three other good and respectable options in the category to win. None of them called bohemian rhapsody. |

Agreed with you Sam. The film wasn't even nomination worthy, Rami, yes. The movie, not so much. I just can't at this coming out of nowhere within the last few days and stealing it!
I'd like to think it's a sinking ship right now and that Bo Rhap will only get a Best Actor nod. |

I know I've been waiting for the inevitable backlash to hit since it came out but it BETTER happen now and asap.
Also ASIB should've stayed in comedy/musical, a risk that didn't pay off  Me and Blacksquare right to be worried that it'd only win one

Bohemian Rhapsody is a disgraceful winner. What an absolute shambles.
While I don't think Rami was bad in it, he certainly wasn't the best actor of the bunch, but my god that movie was absolutely terrible. I can't even wrap my head around why the voters went for it. Take out Rami's decent performance and it's people miming to someone else's performance. I wasn't sure if A Star is Born would win, but my god it deserved to take it over BoRhap. Original music from the best selling album in the world last year, incredible live performances and 2 stunning lead actors showing more emotional depth and range than BoRhap could dream of. I'm just absolutely baffled by that choice. There were some good winners though. At least Shallow won best song. And Olivia Coleman was the absolute right choice too. |

There are numerous documentaries about Queen and Freddie that already show us a lot of the moments from the movie in real life, that are all much more rewarding than the movie. While I can see why some people may have enjoyed it, I would never, ever consider it award worthy. I just can't wrap my head around that. |

'Bohemian Rhapsody' is entertaining, not gonna lie. But "entertaining" doesn't mean it's award worthy (if it is 'The Greatest Showman' would've swept completely x). It was factually incorrect, the timeline was a mess and the credited director... well.. the less said about that mess, the better. All things people could overlook in the best of times, but for it to be rewarded and hailed as "the best film of the year"? I don't agree.
It does however, make the Best Picture race exciting though and seeing people give 'Roma' a shout to win now is encouraging! I, however, although not my favourite Superhero movie, would love to see Black Panther win, just coz it'd be something so unique and I don't think anything like that has ever won before? |

Black Panther will need to win at SAG to be in the conversation (as will A Star Is Born and BlacKkKlansman). I think both Black Panther and The Favourite will struggle on the Academy preferential ballots. I'm finding it unlikely for anything to beat Roma at this point. G'won Rami Malek and Bohemian Rhapsody.
 I don't consider myself a big Queen fan but the film is amazing and it is definitely in my top 5 of the year. So, I'm happy for BR.

Ignoring that - the film itself is just a mediocre biopic. It doesn't offer anything new or even bother telling the real story of Freddie Mercury.
