27th January marked 5 years since the release of 'Into the Blue', the lead single to Kylie's twelfth studio album Kiss Me Once. The song sees Kylie confess to feelings of loneliness and regret before declaring her new found freedom in an empowering chorus. It's a positive message of liberation and endurance, assisted by euphoric piano and string arrangements and an impressive, sky-high vocal delivery. Whilst its parent album does not place itself with the most highly regarded of Kylie's discography, 'Into the Blue' gave us a glorious slice of pop that Kylie does best.

5 years on, how does 'Into the Blue' rate for you? Does it deserve more recognition in Kylie universe? Shouldn't there at least be one song to represent the Kiss Me Once era?

I really feel like this would have been the perfect track to come back with in 2007 instead of '2 Hearts', both soundwise and lyrically in relation to addressing what she'd been through and how she'd overcame it.

I love the song so much, I hadn't been listening to it as much lately (as I overplayed it), but I did have a real moment with it the other day. wub.gif

What I like about this song is it's mostly pop-influenced track, which is kinda rare from Kylie as she has mostly done heavily dance-influenced songs.

I am even more impressed by her high note when she sings "Into the BLUEEEEEEE", it's my favourite part of the song. wub.gif Helps my depression by the way.

That is an on point analogy of the song.

I love into the blue. Had Parlophone not deleted the radio edit version from iTunes on its first week of release then it might have reached the top10. It was no9 in the midweeks before the radio edit was deleted.

I remember that had just penetrated the top 10 on iTunes and they deleted it. Sheer utter idiocy!

Wow has it been 5 years already, where has the time gone. Well anyway 'ITB' is still a great song and definitely Kylie by the numbers and a very solid comeback for her, but should have had a better music video instead of that tampon commercial we got. It deserved better for such a classy pop song that Kylie can do in her sleep.

Shame the album it came from wasn't half as good, however good decision releasing this first as nothing else would have done half as well.
