It's 20 years since ATB's '9 PM (Till I Come)' and Whitney Houston's 'My Love is Your Love' made huge debuts on the UK singles chart. '9 PM (Till I Come)' was the debut single from German dance producer ATB, originally a #14 hit in his home country the previous year. The song had three separate chart entries ahead of its full release: in March, it was released on Ministry of Sound's vinyl-only label Data and peaked at #68; following its deletion, a German import peaked at #47 and an Australian import peaked at #63. 'My Love is Your Love' was released as the third UK single from Whitney Houston's fourth studio album of the same name. It was the follow-up to 'It's Not Right, But It's Okay' which had to settle for a #3 peak in March, despite shifting an impressive 161k. Being one of the most anticipated releases of the year, it was no surprise to see '9 PM (Till I Come)' take the #1 spot with a huge 270k first week sales - a tally beaten in 1999 only by Britney Spears' 'Baby One More Time' and Mr Oizo's 'Flat Beat'. 'My Love is Your Love' still sold a strong 129k copies, which would have saw it debut at #1 if released a week later. By the end of 1999, '9 PM' became the 5th best seller with 791k sales whilst 'My Love is Your Love' was 22nd with 493k. 'My Love is Your Love' has since been certified Platinum and '9 PM' is estimated to have shifted over one million chart units! 20 years on, which is your favourite? |

I went for ATB 1999 was out of this world for dance music! Agreed! This, '2 Times', 'The Launch', 'You Don't Know Me', 'Turn Around', 'Right Here Right Now'... so many bangers! I really like 'My Love is Your Love' although I don't consider it one of her very best like a lot of Whitney fans seem to. |

Unfortunately you've made the common mistake of posting the wrong ATB version That's the original 1998 mix from Germany, but the one the UK know and love sounds very different:
Great moment when the UK had its first trance number 1, even though I'd have loved it to have been something heavier like Carte Blanche or Gouryella! Reminds me of DJ Fresh bringing dubstep to the top of the charts twelve years later. My Love Is Your Love is also a classic of the era, even if I keep getting it confused with TLC's Unpretty in my head. Bit astonished it took a month for Take Me To Your Heaven to be released after it won Eurovision? Amazed it still managed to go top twenty despite the delay! |

I've honestly never heard that mix before! I guess dance compilations favour the original.

ATB - one of the best dance tracks of all time. The Whitney track is also one of her best too imo. Really good time for chart hits imo!

9PM (Till I Come) on account of it being the song that got me into dance music, and one of my all-time favourites.

I've honestly never heard that mix before! I guess dance compilations favour the original. It’s odd, as far as I'm aware the only time the UK mix has appeared on any compilation in recent years is Ministry of Sound’s I Love Trance, otherwise it’s always the European version used, which to me sounds completely flat in comparison to the UK mix and I doubt it would have been such a huge selling No.1. But yeah, the Sequential One Radio Edit was the one all over radio and TV in the UK, the version used as track 1 on the UK CD single, and the version that appeared on Now 43 and all other compilations it was licensed to in 1999. But since then the European original is usually licensed, or requested by compilers. |

Pretty tough, I'd say even for me. MLIYL is one of my favorite Whitney tunes, and 9PM isnt one of my favorite from ATB but its still great. Had it been "Let U Go" or "Dont Stop" and it would be an easier choice.

It has to be 9PM fairly easily, great to see it smashing the competition here.

There's just no contest. 9PM is a true 90s classic - I remembering being so obsessed with it at the time that I bought some random Ministry of Sound compilation just for that song, because the single itself was still a couple of weeks away from release but was available on this compilation. Happy days

I love both songs.
But my vote went to Whitney. She’s probably my least favourite ‘diva’ like I much prefer Mariah and Celine but I will always love that particular song it’s just gorgeous |
