Have to admit that I don't remember as much about HVOB as most of the rest of my votes but I obviously liked it a lot to have given it 12 points!! I'll give it a relisten now to refresh my memory ~~
edit: yes it's still sounding very good, perfect chillout playlist material etc. I feel compelled to mention my observation that these are not being revealed in order of receipt lmao Oh are they not. Well ignore me then |

Sunglasses still the only song without any points yet, maybe it won't win after all?

06 DANDY* ◼ Sarathy Korwar ‘Bol (feat. Zia Ahmed & Aditya Prakash)’
QUOTE Why 'Bol’? So firstly the last thing anyone needed was for me to enter something that would win and force me to host again... soooooo I decided to go with a genre that has never been entered before, yes it was time for Unknown Pleasures to receive a blast of Anglo-Indian Jazz/Hip Hop/Spoken Word/Classical fusion! *.* The album it comes from, 'More Arriving', is one of my absolute favourites this year and is a fascinating record about being part of Indian culture in the UK in these modern times of Brexit and racial blaming and scapegoating. I chose 'Bol' as I really like the way they tackle head on the dumb as f*** comments that ignorant Brits often use to racially stereotype their culture in the UK - I was a little worried that without context people may not get that the track is coming from that angle in solitude from the rest of the album but hopefully the good folk of Buzzjack understood the intent. Aside from the political angle, I just really love the way the track intersperses spoken word from poet Zia Ahmed with some frankly fabulous traditional Indian music and vocals, that final section from 5:36 onwards thrills me every time I hear it and I think it's one of those long tracks that totally justifies its length with ideas a plenty and a serious story to tell. So yeah, I thought it would be something different and interesting for a Buzzjack contest and hopefully at least a few of you enjoyed it! Votes I enjoyed this edition on the whole, quite a varied and intriguing set of tracks I thought. I have a horrible feeling I've voted for yet another Lewwww victory but we'll see! I'm hoping that I avoid the bottom few, fingers crossed a lot of the #longsongbloc are voting in this! 20 HVOB ‘Panama' 15 JeanGa & George 'Compromise' 12 Mall Grab ‘Liverpool Street In the Rain' 10 Fiona Walden ‘Shoot Me Down' 08 Faye Webster ‘She Won't Go Away' 07 Liar ‘Benzolovers' 06 乌龟tortoise 'Sun Quan the Emperor (Guzheng & Drum Version)’ 05 Thylacine ‘Versailles' 04 Black Country, New Road ‘Sunglasses (Edit)’ 03 Prosumer & Murat Tepeli ‘Go Silla' 02 Snapped Ankles ‘Tailpipe’ 01 Luttrell ‘Windowscene' Twenty-points for Frankluck and HVOB! 'Panama' is clearly not that similar to most of the entries, so Franluck can sleep easy now with that twenty from Dandy*. Sorry to disappoint anyone hoping for nul points as Black Country, New Road finally joins the scoreboard~ Scoreboard 01 50 Fiona Walden ‘Shoot Me Down' 02 44 JeanGa & George 'Compromise' 03 41 Liar ‘Benzolovers' 04 39 HVOB ‘Panama' FRANKLUCK 05 39 Mall Grab ‘Liverpool Street In the Rain' 06 35 Thylacine ‘Versailles' BRÉ 07 31 乌龟tortoise 'Sun Quan the Emperor (Guzheng & Drum Version)’ POPCHARTFREAK 08 29 Deja Blu 'Lake Song' 09 29 9mm Parabellum Bullet ‘ハートに火をつけて (Heart ni Hi wo Tsukete)' 10 24 Uppermost 'Given By Nature' 11 22 American Football ‘Silhouettes' 12 20 SASSY 009 ‘Are You Leaving' MATTIAS 13 20 Elísabet ‘Heart Beats' 14 17 Faye Webster ‘She Won't Go Away' 15 16 Luttrell ‘Windowscene' 16 16 Flunk ‘Queen Of The Underground’ 17 16 Sarathy Korwar ‘Bol (feat. I think the identity of 'Bol' would have been surprising nearly no matter who sent it but wow dandy*! Certainly provided a very memorable and off-the-wall opening to the contest even though it didn't quite make my votes in the end.

I absolutely ADORE my entry this time around! Obviously I'm not expecting great things for it but I'm hoping that someone else loved it too... even if it wasn't RFC!

I had a feeling I had seen that artist/song title combo somewhere before, seeing it next to Addy looks even more familiar - I think Frank said someone had played it on plug before, was that you Addy? Pretty decent song, not surprised at it doing well so far. Yay for Liar now leading as well *.*
