Condragulations to our ten newest inductees to the BJSC Hall of Fame, now it's time to see out the year and the decade with our annual "Best of the Best" round.
But this year, we can reveal an EXCLUSIVE TWIST... Nominations and TBO: The Rejects have been CANCELLED for 2019. Dates and format will be confirmed soon! |

ah no rejects, I was looking forward to Denis Kenzo getting justice (and maybe he still can?)
hoping that Emerald Princess manages to do well amongst the rest of the year's big hits anyhow! |

Well my one eligible entry for Rejects was a mega-flop so not missing out there so much.
Not a great year for winners though imo having only voted for 4 of them (2 of which were mealwormy). |

I've heard an exclusive leak through the grapevine that just because Rejects is cancelled does not mean that DNQs are entirely out of the running... #mysteryandintrigue

I'd say that winner's list would have been improved with a bit of Up & Down xx Gunning for that to maybe finally let me appear in the TBO final. Though it's still a fairly good list even if I haven't been on board with the most recent 3.
to add to the mystery and hype, from what I've seen of the plans from the mod forum, I am excited |

As someone who had a lot of close-cut DNQs I'm disappointed to see Rejects cancelled, looks like Niceland will be very much forgotten in this.
Edit: Oh so the DNQs will be in the main thing then? Interesting... |

Hi all and welcome to the 12th edition of "The Best of the Buzzjack Song Contest"!!!
As alluded to previously, we've decided to take a fresh approach to TBO this year and have worked hard to come up with a new format that we think will be not only more reflective of what has been the most popular songs through the year, but also gives as many people as possible a chance to participate in TBO. In fact, everyone who has entered at least one contest this year will be guaranteed an entry into TBO. The contest will take place over 4 rounds, and you'll have 5 days to vote in each round. As you will have heard the majority of these tracks through the year, the shorter time scale for voting is reasonable we think. The Qualifiers - Round 1 First round is the Qualifying Round and replaces Rejects for this year. From each of our 20 semifinals though the year we have taken the top 2 entires that just failed to make the final. Normally that is 21st and 22nd place - depending on the contest size. After this neat little list of 40 auto-qualifying entries we have a further 40 wildcard entries entering at this stage. For any country who didn't have an AQ for this round, your highest performing DNQ has been selected. Ramrynia and Tartford have the lucky distinction of two wildcard entries each as their highest performing DNQs were ties...and it took us to an nice round figure of 40 Wildcards. The Quarterfinals - Round 2 The best performing tracks from each heat will advance to the Quarterfinals. At this stage we have a further batch of Auto-qualifying entries entering the competition. Any country who has not had the pleasure of finishing in the top 5 will have their best performing entry enter at this stage. Up to 3 wildcards of the highest performing non-qualifiers from Round 1 will be used to balance the heats. The Semifinals - Round 3 The top 10 from each Quarterfinal will advance to the Semifinals where they will be joined by another 40 auto-qualifying entries. Every song that finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th in its contest will be given an automatic pass to the semi-final. The Grand Final - Round 4 The top 15 from each semi final and this years 10 winners will meet in the Grand Final to battle it out for this years TBO Crown. --- As in previous years, the mod team will be sharing the hosting out so please pay careful attention to who is hosting a particular heat/quarter/semi. You may vote in any or all rounds/heats/quarters/semis it is up to you. If you do not vote in an event that you are represented in you will receive a small TBO non-voting deduction. We were keen to try something a little different this year to try and ensure that everyone had an entry in TBO and to remove the fact that TBO is often shaped by the tastes of a smaller group of nations who participate in nominations and therefore is often poorly reflective of the years actual best performing entries as a whole. By removing nominations all together we take out this element of the contest. The scrapping of Rejects and having the DNQs instead represented in TBO itself allows us to look to see if there is any songs that cut through as a result of "wrong semi syndrome". Really keen to hear your feedback as we move through the contest to hear what you all think of the new format and what we can improve going forward. Not wedded to this as a format for next year so if y'all thoroughly hate it we can revert for TBO XIII. |

liking the look of this so far, great to see everyone who entered get a near-equal chance too, and that we still get some form of Rejects.
