There have been 100s of Kylie cover versions over the years especially Dance remakes.
Out of all the cover versions a few have made it into the UK charts - what’s your thoughts on them? Better than the originals? A crime against music? Hazel Dean - Turn It Into Love (September 1988) UK Chart Run: 33-29-21-22-27-40-63. UK Mixmasters - Lucky 7 Megamix (July 1991) UK Chart Run: 43-51-72. Denise & Johnny - Especially For You (December 1998) 3-5-7-16-30-45-52-55-57-48-80 (RE)66-54-79 (RE)96-99 Steps - Better The Devil You Know (December 1999) UK Chart Run: 7-8-4-4-14-19-32-38-38-44-50-60-56-63-73-68-59-99 Jose Gonzalez - Hand On Your Heart (July 2006) UK Chart Run: 100-29-44-59-93 This post has been edited by ___∆___: 30th April 2020, 08:58 PM |

Jose Gonzales really put a different spin on the song, the others a carbon copies that dont really differ to much from the originals.

Breathe was a song that could have become a big dance hit if remixed and covered.
None of the Kylie covers made any improvements on the original. |

I love Jose’s version of HOYH - such a different laid back spin on it, love it when cover versions offer something different.
It was weird that Hazel released TIIL at the height of Kylie’s debut album success - it clearly worked for her with the song being so well known. The UK Mixmasters song and video are horrendous - shocking that it got so close to the Top 40, just goes to show what old rubbish could be sold in the early 90s And I love the Steps version of SBIT for what it is, it’s never going to beat the original but it’s a pure pop fun track. Denise & Johnny was for a good cause - I didn’t pay much interest to it when it was released other than buying it to stash in my Kylie collection. There have been some other great cover versions over the years that haven’t chatted - there are some really good ones of Confide In Me that offer a totally different spin on the song. |

I've started learning Japanese so I decided to dig into J-pop and I found this:
It was far more successful than Kylie's original version, went to No.1 and sold more than 600K in Japan. And they covered "Especially for you" in their next album but I don't think they released the cover as a single: |

A few Japanese artists have covered Kylie songs over the years - she really was so huge over there back in the day.
Some of my favourite items in my Kylie collection are the releases from Japan, Taiwan etc., always such unique promos, pressings, bonus tracks and the OBI’s |

Her early material was massively welcomed in Japan and Kylie experienced huge success in that market.

I'd rather pull my toenails out with pliers than listen to any of these.

I prefer Kylie's Turn It Into Love over Hazell Dean's, but it's Same Difference's version I love the most.

I prefer Kylie's Turn It Into Love over Hazell Dean's, but it's Same Difference's version I love the most. That was going to be released as their 2nd single but when the first single and album didn’t perform as expected they pulled it. Would love to know if they would have managed to have a hit with it though. |

There was this dance cover of 'Slow' a few years back which I think it's absolutely gorgeous and a good tribute to the unsurpassable original. |

^^ Never heard that one before, it’s a decent cover.
Also the original of ‘Where Is The Feeling’ - I remember it took me ages after it was originally released to track down the original version, the production on this is such a 90s club track |

I didn't know about UK Mixmasters' Lucky 7 Megamix before, but it's catchy, so I bought cd single on sale recently. Extended version is much better than single edit.

I don’t like the steps version. Hazel Dean’s version is quite similar. Especially for you cover isn’t great. The best is hand on your heart.
