Hoping that Headie will get #3 this week after being very close with #4 in all of the mids - tough to see him overtaking Cardi or 24kGoldn so #3 is probably the highest he'll be able to get.

Also Declan to somehow get the #1 album back pls and thank you x

Still majorly peeved that 'Start Without You' kept 'Teenage Dream' off #1, that's one of the biggest chart injustices ever to me.

If "Obey" gets in it'll be nice on the grounds of variety - it sounds almost nothing like any other top 40 hit of 2020.

I mean, it and Parasite Eve sound quite different in my opinion although they could both probably be described as like "alternative metal" or such.

Paloma Faith
Better Than This

1st single from Infinite Things
Released: 3rd September 2020
Label: Sony Music Entertainment UK

Video

Biography

A familiar presence on the London underground circuit for several years, the multi-talented Paloma Faith eventually broke into the mainstream thanks to her theatrical image and retro-soul sound. Born in Hackney to a Spanish father and English mother, she earned a degree in contemporary dance at university before studying for an M.A. in time-based arts at St. Martins College. At the age of 18, she made her debut on the cabaret scene, singing in a covers band called Paloma & the Penetrators, before performing as a magician's assistant and appearing in a burlesque troupe. After turning down an opportunity to join Amy Winehouse's band, she began writing and performing her own songs, and soon earned a reputation as one of London's most unique and flamboyant live acts.

Her debut single, "Stone Cold Sober," reached number 17 in the U.K. charts, and her debut album, Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?, was issued by Epic Records at the end of 2009. Meanwhile, Faith appeared on Basement Jaxx's album Scars and Josh Weller's debut, while also working as an actress, playing Andrea the Emo in St. Trinian's and appearing as Sally in Terry Gilliam's The Imagination of Dr. Parnassus. In 2011, she earned a BRIT Award nomination for "British Female Solo Artist".

Faith's second studio album, 2012's lush and cinematic Fall to Grace, was produced by Nellee Hooper (Gwen Stefani, Massive Attack, Björk). It debuted at number two in the U.K. charts, led by Faith's first Top Ten single, "Picking Up the Pieces." She also earned two more BRIT Award nods for "Best British Female" and "Best British Album". Following the album's release, she signed with Epic Records in the United States.

Her third album, 2014's A Perfect Contradiction, was an upbeat return to her early soul sound featuring a star cast of songwriters, including Pharrell Williams, Raphael Saadiq, and Diane Warren. The album spawned six singles including two Top Tens with "Can't Rely on You" and "Only Love Can Hurt Like This." Having debuted at number two on the U.K. charts, A Perfect Contradiction ultimately achieved double-platinum status. In 2015, Faith won her first BRIT Award for "British Female Solo Artist".

In the wake her success, Faith continued to broaden her creative and commercial scope. She launched her own management and publishing company and returned to acting, taking on the role of Tinker Bell in the TV movie Peter and Wendy. She also signed on as a judge for season five of The Voice UK in 2016. That same year she gave birth to her first child, a daughter. In 2017, she returned with her fourth studio album, the Jesse Shatkin-produced The Architect. Included on the album were the singles "Crybaby" and "Guilty." Also featured were guest appearances by Samuel L. Jackson, John Legend, and others. The album debuted at number one on the U.K. albums charts.

SZA featuring Ty Dolla $ign
Hit Different

1st single from second studio album
Released: 4th September 2020
Label: Top Dawg Entertainment

Video

Biography

Solána Imani Rowe (born November 8, 1990), known professionally as SZA (/ˈsɪzə/), is an American singer and songwriter. In October 2012, SZA self-released her debut EP, See.SZA.Run, which she then followed up with her second EP, S, in April 2013. In July 2013, she signed with the hip hop record label Top Dawg Entertainment, through which she released Z, her third EP and first retail release, in April 2014. In March 2020, it was declared by Billboard that SZA had signed with WME for representation in all areas.

SZA's debut studio album, Ctrl, was released on June 9, 2017, to universal acclaim from music critics. It debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 and was eventually certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). " The Weekend" from her Ctrl album peaked at #29 which is her highest charting solo song. The album and its songs were nominated for four Grammy Awards, while SZA was nominated for Best New Artist at the 60th annual ceremony. Ctrl was ranked as the best album of 2017 by Time. SZA collaborated with Maroon 5 for their 2017 record "What Lovers Do," earning SZA her first US Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. She later followed that by featuring on the 2018 Black Panther record with Kendrick Lamar, "All the Stars," which peaked at number 7 in the US and was also nominated for the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

SZA is a neo soul singer, whose music has been described as alternative R&B, with elements of soul, hip hop, minimalist R&B, cloud rap, witch house, and chillwave. SZA's lyrics are described as "unravelling" and her songs often revolve around themes of sexuality, nostalgia, and abandonment. SZA cites a variety of artists as influences, including Ella Fitzgerald, Meelah, Björk, Jamiroquai, and Lauryn Hill, among others. SZA also takes influence from non-musical artists, including filmmaker Spike Lee.

Biography

Kygo
Kygo turned the dance-music world on its ear in the simplest way possible: by slowing down. The Norwegian producer (born Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll in 1991) cut his teeth crafting bootleg remixes of songs like Lana Del Rey’s “Born to Die” and James Blake’s “The Wilhelm Scream”, fleshing out the originals with contrasting touches: EDM drops inspired by his fondness for Avicii and ruminative melodies reflective of his childhood piano studies. In 2013, layering an a cappella of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” over dancing marimbas and a teasingly measured 4/4 beat, he hit upon his slow-motion signature. The following year, he was called up to replace an ailing Avicii on Tomorrowland’s main stage, and his relaxed, sunny vibe stopped EDM’s harder-faster-louder ethos in its tracks. Kygo’s dreamy, pioneering tropical house—encapsulated in singles like the lilting “Firestone” and his even-more-weightless remix of a-ha’s “Take On Me”—cast its influence across the pop music landscape, reaching as far as Skrillex, Diplo and Justin Bieber’s smash, “Where Are Ü Now”, and securing Kygo collabs with Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, Miguel and Imagine Dragons. - iTunes

Tina Turner
Pouring pain and experience and raw sensuality into performances that mix rock, soul, and blues, singer-songwriter Tina Turner is a wellspring of uncontainable energy. Born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, in 1939, Turner sang in church choirs before featuring in The Kings of Rhythm, an R&B band led by her future husband Ike Turner—from whom she would suffer more than a decade of abuse. She channeled that emotion to turn Creedence Clearwater Revival’s gently rolling “Proud Mary” into a tear-the-roof-off anthem and imbue 1973’s semi-autobiographical “Nutbush City Limits” with a self-aware wit. Her show-stealing turn as The Acid Queen in 1975’s film version of The Who’s Tommy only further highlighted her range and hinted at the chart-topping force she’d become. After divorcing Ike and reclaiming her independence in the late ’70s, Turner became a watchword for liberation and self-empowerment at a time when there wasn’t much vocabulary for it. She reinvented herself as a wounded-but-wise R&B singer, chronicling the often devastating complexities of romance with the intimacy and strength of a survivor—particularly on her 1984 pop breakthrough, Private Dancer. In anyone else’s hands, songs such as “Better Be Good to Me” and "What’s Love Got to Do With It” are breezy FM-radio tunes; in Turner's, they're real-life examinations of how destructive emotions can be—a perspective you can still hear in the toughness and vulnerability of Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige. That grace and confidence carried on through the ensuing decades of her work, whether as the singer of 1989's triumphant “The Best,” the actor in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, the author of the frank memoir I, Tina, a style icon, a hero to victims of domestic abuse, or an adherent of Buddhism, whose teachings have fueled her creatively and spiritually since the ’70s. Speaking to Oprah Winfrey in 2005, she said, “I want my gift to become a gift for others. We're caught in a stagnant belief system passed on to us from our parents and what’s been given from the churches. I believe there’s another truth. Dancing and singing is all good—but the ultimate gift is to change people’s minds.” - Wikipedia

Glad this managed another week top 40! Oops at On Deck being skipped again, despite R1 almost always playing the #40 and them playing it before... laugh.gif
