Now we know that Little Mix and Kylie are releasing their new albums on the same week, who do you think will have the higher opening sales?

I would expect Kylie. I think there’s a real buzz about her new album.

Love to be proved wrong but Little Mix comfortably. They are huge and will snap up every bit of promo. So will Kylie and hopefully Kylie has all the best promo booked for release week like Graham Norton etc.
Also depends on the success of single 2 to pick up casual fans |

I’m confident Kylie will get it the more I think about it.
She’s following up 2 #1 albums plus Glastonbury, she has been on pre-order for a few months and there are 7 different versions for fans to buy. ‘Golden’ opened with 48k in April without being aided by a hit single and SBIT opened with 26k in July - the fact she’s releasing in Q4 will by default attract more sales. Little Mix are of course a threat but even with their BBC show coming up but that’s not suddenly going to lead to them adding 20/30k of extra sales? |

If Little Mix try the multi format they will be a huge threat, if they dont i think it really increases Kylies chances.

When am I best to buy the album to add to Kylie's first week sales?
Realistically I can't see Little Mix beating Kylie - as has already been said The Search isn't going to magically give them thousands upon thousands of sales, and particularly around November time the casual buyer is surely more likely to think 'oh new Kylie album, worth checking out or buying as present' as opposed to a Little Mix album. |

Little Mix last album Lm5 saw a huge nosedive in sales for them but their recent singles are doing well for them so there sales might improve. Lm5 still sold about 250k I think. If they reverse their sales trend it's likely the album might not open on bigger numbers than kylie but could go on to outsell her long term.

I still have faith that Kylie will come out on top! Queen of physicals!
It'll be very interesting to see how well Kylie sells in Q4. It's been a long time since she had a normal studio album out for this period (X in 2007!). |

Q4 always a risk chart position wise but the reward is better visibility and overall sales in the lead up to Chrimbo...though the benefits of that have severely receded in recent years, physical sales still do improve relatively.
I think if Kylie’s second single secures decent airplay in the build up she’ll secure enough physical sales opening week to beat most younger acts except of course Adele or another heritage act like The Rolling Stones. I wouldn’t be upset if she misses the top but overall clears at least 100k for the year. |

I think kylie will sell similar to what she did with Golden whether she gets number 1 or not but the number 1 is great for her discography and moves her up the list of artists with most number 1s.

Kylie’s last two albums have settled around the 150k mark - I’m sure LM will outsell her overall however I’m here for Kylie getting an 8th #1 album tbh. |

Little Mix will EASILY win the chart battle. They have a bigger fan base.

Little Mix will EASILY win the chart battle. They have a bigger fan base. I think it’s really difficult to quantify ‘bigger fan base’ - there are so many factors aside from album sales alone. A recent example would be 5SOS versus Dua Lipa in the album charts... it was seen as a dead cert Dua would debut at #1 and we know how that turned out. |

Little Mix will EASILY win the chart battle. They have a bigger fan base. They don't have comparable fan bases. Their fan base grew up with social media, which gives the impression that they have a "bigger" fan base because they're more prevalent. However, Kylie clearly has a large and devoted fan base that is reliably supportive when it comes to buying her physicals. The fact that her last two albums reached #1 demonstrates this. It could be a close call. |

If they reverse their sales trend it's likely the album might not open on bigger numbers than kylie but could go on to outsell her long term. The lead single from LM5, Woman Like Me, was a #2 single, spent 9 weeks in the Top 10 and is also one of their best sellers. The Confetti singles have gone to #9 and #15... so how those singles have performed in the charts can't really be used as an indication that Little Mix will have improved sales with Confetti! |
