Fun(?) fact: my surname (in Hungarian) is 'sparrowhawk'. I'll take hoopoe though, that's a fierce bitch.
Congrats FARC + great hosting Chez+Phil! Although I'm not the target audience for the top 6 (or 7 if we count Essy), I'm happy that Persephonia, Caerfyrddia and Trifoski made the top 10, they are all great discoveries. |

Aw man, so close to top 20 but missing out on a tiebreak! Still, 21st is my best result of the year and still a top-half finish, when I was just happy to qualify and figured I’d be bottom-ten. I got points from a lot of countries that I wasn’t expecting, and ‘Swimming’ was not my typical kind of entry so I appreciate everyone giving it a chance
Congrats Jake, great entry and a very worthy winner. The runner-up was a welcome surprise, it would’ve been amazing for TAROBell to finally get their first win, but I’m currently eating my words for thinking Future Jr’s song was a stronger entry than Isac’s, so hopefully there’s some small victory in that I hope Lookylion is overjoyed with 3rd place, losing the lead toward the end was a letdown but still, 3rd place is better than most, if not all of us have done on our debut entries! Disappointed in how my top two faves did, Oslol and Jupiterdonia deserved much better! </3 Chez – I loved the presentation and all of the bird graphics! I’ve just started doing bird photography this year and would love to see all those birds in person. Next time you need bird pics hit me up |

Some cracking finds from this contest, well played to those I gave points to.
The final results still continue to baffle me, is it just enter a buzzy song from 6 months ago and hope for the best? I was just sort of pleased to qualify this round, which seems to be my default in 2020. |

Wow - a medal in my first ever BJSC! I am so, so pleased! Of course I knew I would not win, when I saw Die 4 ur Love was among the competing songs; it has WINNER written all over it. Congratulations to FARC, and thanks to the hosts!
And of course all the people voting for it - I already thanked most of them in previous messages - thanks to the kind people of Mosquetania, Mulgracia, Bhangra & Caerfyrddia with the additional points for Babet. See you all next time! |

Has any début entry won since the first contest? I feel like there's a really obvious début victory that I'm forgetting.

Quotosibb's was Beverley Knight's 'Black Butta' in BJSC 6 - that and Batidas are still the only debut wins excluding Mdiče doing so by default in BJSC 1!
Lookylion are actually only the 8th country ever to debut in the top 3 (only the 5th excluding the 3 that did so by default) Mdiče, Faztickle and Kopečka/Qärenfanghoney 1st, 2nd and 3rd in BJSC 1 (Britney Spears - And Then We Kiss (Junkie XL Remix) / Nelly Furtado - Maneater / Jordin Sparks - Tattoo) Tyronosaurusland 2nd in BJSC 2 (Regina Spektor - Fidelity) Quotosibb 1st in BJSC 6 (Beverley Knight - Black Butta) M.K.L. 2nd in BJSC 7 (Lady Gaga - Just Dance (feat. Colby O'Donis)) Batidas 1st in BJSC 33 (Agnes Obel - Riverside) Lookylion 3rd in BJSC 128 (Babet - Chameleon) The last country to even debut in the top 10 was Republic of Adonia (7th in BJSC 65 with Alex Adair's 'Make Me Feel Better'). i won on my debut You won with your first entry after coming back to the contest as FARC but your debut entry as Kellyana Kingdom back in the day came 6th (still one of the better debut positions!) |

Late but very happy with 13th! A massive thank you to everyone who voted for Roosevelt, finished higher than all of my favourites which is a bit sad POPHub, Utopia and Numayania really deserved to be higher! Congrats Jake and fab hosting from both Chez and Phil

FARC was the only one I voted for in the entire top 11 so happy with that winner but the rest of these results are a mess.
Happily take 28th though with this my favourite entry ever of course shout outs to Frank & Mack for the 18s but also to our 2 biggest allies for the snubs! (granted i snubbed you too Addy, this must be a rare moment indeed!) |

I think this is my current longest ever streak (16?) - really hoping I can make it to 132 and my 100th contest next year without another DNQ.
