As it's the start of a New Year, I thought I'd create a 2021 thread where all you gym and fitness freaks can discuss how you keep in shape and give each other diet and workout advice!

Do you prefer sports or running to keep yourselves in shape!?

Continuing the walks. I walked 1510.5 miles last calendar year. Hopefully that will increase this year. When normality returns, hopefully I will resume the swimming.

Stay safe everyone.

Hope it picks up Mack! It's only one day and you've still got plenty of time to keep going.

I've been going for walks at lunchtimes during the week then longer walks at the weekend, although it's more to say I've been out the house than anything else.

Ah don't worry, I'm sure you'll get back at it. My girlfriend started the Couch to 5k last week. For the first time she did it I did it with her, and although I'm well beyond needing it, I'm tempted to keep it going because I like listening to Jo Wiley, who's one of the voices on the app!

I'm back at the running in the new year. I'm scheduled to do a half-marathon in March (which will likely be delayed again), and May (which should hopefully go ahead), so I'm starting light with a few 5k runs, and will ramp things up to about 10 miles as it goes into the warmer weather to get ready for the half-marathon. My 5k was well off my usual pace as I'd been quite inactive in December, so hopefully I'll be back at my usual pace in a few weeks.

Which week are you on? It does start to get difficult all done at once, and especially around week 4 when it jumps in the timing of runs, but everyone has their own pace. Don't give up, and do feel free to take longer breaks as it can get very intensive, good luck with it! It was one of the only good things that came out of 2020 for me.

I'm still running, I'm trying to aim for 5k within 30 minutes, I'm always just outside. The shorter days and freezing cold have make it a little more difficult, but the streets are quieter at least!

I'd still recommend keeping at it for the first two or three weeks at least (and you can easily repeat weeks), you'll know if it's not for you by then.

Glad it is helping. Walking makes me feel better both physically and mentally. I have lost over a stone so far and am using the lock down to get my weight down. By the time my brother sees me again, he won't recognize me... heehee.gif

Can someone recommend a good beginner morning workout I can do from home each day? I’m thinking mainly just aerobic stretches etc, but if I want cardio I have a barely workable treadmill. What I specifically wanted recommendations for was a YouTube video, or series, that I could follow and begin with 10 minutes each morning working up toward longer sessions and cardio eventually.
