Unfortunately, this sounds like totally the kind of thing that celebrities like what Emma has become would do in lockdown for a year.

Boring as hell, no-one really needs it either, but it is minimum effort for her so she will do it... dry.gif

The girls test us at every turn

Well I guess work doesn't grow on trees, so good for her.

Obviously I find it personally very reductive to see her release a cover album and flog baby parenting books/products, but not unexpected at this point.

Books are always such easy money and minimal effort, so few books by celebrities do they actually have much involvement in the actual process of being put together. Emma will have jotted down a few anecdotes and the rest will have been done for her.

I get it but I'm not interested.

Yeah these types of releases are nothing but a quick cash in with little involvement from the actual celebrity. It's why I'm not interested at all. If it was a biog or a novel, or something she really invested her time and talent in, I would be all in. This, however, is just meh...

No shade to mum-focused publications by the way, I think they can be amazing and both my sisters benefited a lot from books on how to be a mother, I see the value in that.

Sadly, I agree with most of the sentiment here. I don't think this publication is going to appeal to Emma's fanbase.

But maybe she's got an informative new angle that will bring something different to her book. I could see her having a great point-of-view on a modern gender-neutral approach. That could garner her some success, with the right publicity.

I guess it depends on how you define Emma's "fanbase" - I'm sure there's a lot of women in their late 20s and early/mid-30s who grew up listening to the Spice Girls and now have kids...

Yeah I mean from a business sense this will appeal to her Kit and King and Heart radio listeners I'm sure.

Sadly it mums and gays that she appeals to and really the gays are only interested in a short, Mighty Hoopla setlist of about 5 songs.

You have a very, very reductive view of the gay community pal

surely the fact she's never been approached for a Pride suggests so? And never done one...

Pride isn't the only gay context for artists to play at and she has consistently supported the gay community. I think during the Free Me era she played also in LGBTQ+ contexts, she always played GAY for each era - even the Life in Mono era was launched at GAY at the Astoria, so I am not sure what you mean about that?!

As a queer person, I never go to pride as it is really exclusionary nowadays, and there are many many more non-Pride focused ways that Emma has consistently supported and played with.

I don't think he's attacking neither Emma nor the LGBTQ+ community, I probably agree that the average gay is more interested in a 5-hit performance at an LGBTQ+ extravaganza festival than in a parenting book or a cover album (I'm saying this as I include myself in that, mainly cause I love Mighty Hoopla and would probably enjoy that more than her latest offering mentioned above, that's it). Not taking anything away from Emma's potential, her support of gays nor from the whole LGBTQ+ community smile.gif

yeah i'm not attacking the LGBT+ community... i'm talking about someone who actively supports and love the community and is part of it...

Watching Mel C perform at Prides and Mighty Hoopla shows that besides the hits (besides a handful of people), no-ones too interested in the album cuts.

In an ideal world, I'd love Emma to do a small gig somewhere and do some rare cuts but I just don't think she's too invested...when you've had such success as the Spice Girls or even her solo career at points, everything else is going to seem a bit... of a letdown.

I would absolutely love her to tour in the future, but she will never do it. She proved she is at home performing her own solo songs and Spice songs in 2019 (lets not talk about the excessive karaoke for a min lol) and hearing her sing Free Me, Take My Breath Away and Viva Forever live showed she is totally ready for a solo gig of her own!!

But I seriously doubt she ever will, realistically. In her own words, she is 'lazy' and even around the release of My Happy Place she said she would 'do it if it is not too much work' lol I mean touring is a lot of work so...

I think it is a pitty she never did many concerts or even that many festivals specially in the Free Me era. Not talking about festivals like those summer ones where pop acts play one or two tracks only, but proper ones. If there was ever a Bunton era that totally screamed TOUR it was that one. She even mentioned she was planning one with a live orchestra but then, nada...

Anyway, you can now pre-order the book if that is up your street. It is actually called 'Mama You Got This' and it seems to be much more focused on her, with stories about her own mothering experience, so it seems like it is a bit more interesting than before... STILL Im pressed if I am going to spend money on that...

I love Bunton but Im not sure I care enough about this one in particular lol

Hmmmmm I'm feeling conflicted lol. I kind of want to show support for my fave Spice Girl's first book, but obviously it's not aimed at me and fans like myself... and I clearly wouldn't be able to relate to the contents of the book / I would likely find it quite boring.

Oh, how I wish this was an autobiography instead! Oh well, I'm sure this'll be a successful venture for Emma and I'm happy that she's clearly passionate about this.

To be fair in the past I haven't always bought everything the Spice Girls have come out with... I snubbed That Extra Half an Inch and the Ugenia Lavender books.

Anyway here's more of a description about Emma's book:

QUOTE
You have a baby! Isn't it amazing - and also pretty terrifying?!

I love being a Spice Girl, but what I am proudest of is being a mum. Even though I had all the real-life girl power of the actual Spice Girls on speed-dial, my incredible partner and my mum, I had so many worries and questions I couldn't always ask out loud. What I really, really wanted was one, easy-to-read, honest book that would give me support without judgement - that might even make me chuckle occasionally.

So, I've written it for you! I've included all my stories about what that precious, exhausting first year was like for me, and I've also asked some brilliant experts for their help too, including a paediatric sleep consultant, a trusted NCT counsellor, a mindfulness coach, and no-less than five amazing midwives and doulas.

I want you to feel like you've got this. Because guess what mama? You have!

Baby Spice Emma Bunton can be found on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, where she celebrates being a mum to her children Beau and Tate with partner Jade. Her multi-award-winning baby range, Kit and Kin, launched in 2017, and can be found at kitandkin.com, and in Boots, Tesco and Ocado in the UK. Emma is also the presenter of The Great American Baking Show. @emmabunton

Exactly, same here. I didnt get either of those either, nor did I get the Yoga and exercise DVDs that Mel B and Geri released, nor did I get Victoria's fashion. I also didnt listen to Emma's radio show every morning (apart from clips where the other girls participated)...

Again, good for her, but whatever... I am mostly happy for her as clearly it is an area she liked to dwell on, from starting Kit & Kin to this, and seems to be working nicely for her...
