Its certainly a project with a very target audience.
I agree that an autobiography would have made much more sense and appealed to the all round Spice fan spectrum. |

I would say the most interesting thing about this is the release date. Our Bunton might be lazy but she's a smart business woman and that release date is very My happy place before SW19.

Girls stop RUNNING group-related projects with your solo crap CHALLENGE Pisses me right off.. Cant we just have ONE reunion without all the solo crap attached to it and taking one of the girls away from doing more group stuff?... It's so annoying and pointless... |

I’m afraid I’m going to have to second this. Not that everything they’ve ever done as solo artists is crap but I really wish they’d commit to ‘group activities’ when they’re together and active. |

That's my point completely. Mel C and Mel B kept doing solo stuff around the Return, which in the case of Mel B seriously impacted rehearsals and promo for the GH and Headlines. Then Emma did her album launch literally the week before the rehearsals started for the 2019 tour, and there was NO promo AT ALL around that time as Baby was focusing on her own stuff.. It's just tedious, boring and pointless. Bloody hope they focus on the group and this is just a one-day thing this time, urgh! |

I dont think this will be much of a big commitment, a few tv interviews, Sunday paper magazine interviews and some podcast interviews is what I'm expecting.
Also Wannabe isn't the main focus for this year it's Spice. |

Some disappointing news about Emma, so BMG are happy to do a distribution deal with her again but she needs to come to them with a project or music.
As much as I love Emma I just don't see her going into the studio and crafting an album of original music for a few months off her own back. It's pretty frustrating to think the solo spice with that kind of opportunity is the one I have least faith in making the most of it. It's the sort of deal Geri has probably been fishing for for years now to get her music out and would help Melanie C not incur so many costs and make her releases a bit more professional. Sigh. |

It's the sort of deal Geri has probably been fishing for for years now to get her music out and would help Melanie C not incur so many costs and make her releases a bit more professional. Sigh. To be expected actually. Emma did say that BMG got on board after they heard the album - or at least some recordings - as she was already in the studio. Furthermore, it wouldnt be out of the ordinary for Emma, as both Free Me and Life in Mono were on a similar deal. The main issue here is that she doesnt have the backing of 19 Records anymore, so she is more alone than in those two albums. And it is not like she sold shit tons of copies of her album anyway, so it is still a risky endeavour. If Emma really puts her mind to it and creates another record with the freedom and creative vision she had back then, it could work. It is my understanding that Blondie and Garbage are on similar deals with BMG, and they got quite a lot of touring and recording success from that. Before their deal with BMG, they were selling mainly small theatres and hardly any chart success. BMG gave them a good push on both areas and now they are touring arenas again and their latest music has been more successful! Dua Lipa is on a similar deal. Her team does everything and then the record company distributes it, and this gives the artist and their team more space for creative freedom. So it is down to Emma. I wish she would really put her mind to it, she has proven she can really do well when given more freedom. What she does need is a team around her that will get her to tour and work with producers she wants to, and many good producers will jump at the chance (well, you know, not massive producers but at least some greater ones than those guys she worked with for MHP)... |

I just don't have faith Emma would commit to the time and effort crafting a proper album with original songs would take. She earns good money through her radio gig, kit and kin and now a book.
Of the girls (excluding Victoria) I'm sure Emma is the most profitable solo spice these days. |

Of the girls (excluding Victoria) I'm sure Emma is the most profitable solo spice these days. For sure she is bankable. Well, more so than any of the rest at the moment. She should totally go for it and do a small tour. It's pretty clear she is a bit lazy and doesnt have the same fire she did during the AGLM and FM eras. But she could pull off a cute release and do ok if she really got in the right frame of mind. Mel C should totally do a distribution deal like that with a bigger label, never quite understood why she didnt get one in the UK at least... I do wish her releases where better managed and with a bit more cash thrown at it. She obviously invested her Spiceworld2019 earnings into her career for this last era and did pretty well (finally) and seems to be in a better place now. Probably a distribution deal at least could happen and would uplift her a bit more. It would be great for her to get more recognition and some more promo. Plus the quality of the actual albums and vinyls were a mess. And also not release the other delux tracks online? Why not?! |

It was pretty silly of Emma not to tour in the summer of 2004. She left a lot of money on the table by not touring that summer.

I think you need to remember that both Blondie and Garbage mostly release new music as a vehicle to be able to tour, which is where they recoup their own costs. Just releasing music these days doesn't really earn you much these days (if anything at all) and since Emma doesn't do solo tours then I don't really see her been too eager to release music unless it's a cheap personal project that's "important" to her. Just doing music releases is, at best, a zero cost operation and at worst an expense she doesn't need. |

I am a huge blondie fan ad their latest tour is struggling to sell , ticket prices are ridiculous. Not even close to selling out the arenas.

Emma should have totally done some touring - it is perhaps the biggest fault on her career beyond taking 12years to release more and abandoning Life in Mono like she did. Not touring Free Me was a BAD idea, never quite understood it. Like, she could have easily done it at the time, do some theatres, some festivals, etc. Unfortunately, she just doesnt have the confidence that she can do it, in my opinion, unless it is special one offs (the MCM cafe, or the Albert Hall) or with the Spice Girls which are arranged for her... Damn it, this discussion really is making me wanting more Bunton music and a live show I really hoped she had been planning some music during lockdown but alas it doesnt seem like she will do anytime soon as she is too busy with nappies and her Mama book... sad times. |

its weird because the 'my happy place' era was so disjointed... she seemed so happy to record the 2 originals and seemed to fall in love with making music again but then... it was a covers album. I dunno.
I hope she gets that love back that she had? |

Same. That's all she needs really. The rest will follow through if she gets her mind into it!

The packaging, release and delivery of her last album was the biggest problem. It was so cheap, the vinyl is in such thin card it's almost impossible not to damage it. BMG would no doubt help open up more avenues for her too. I know she loves the 'doing on my own label' tag but at this point it probably hurting her than helping especially with how the record industry is these days. |

Touring is where the money is at. |

There’s signed copies but I’m trying to resist... Judging by the tweet responses it’s just the usual fans who are showing the most interest in this so far, not who the book is actually aimed at lol. |
