BuzzJack Legend Joined: 18 July 2012 Posts: 22,851 User: 17,376	25th April 2021 It's The Supremes second chart-topper following the passing of Mary Wilson, as a 1966 track replaces another 1966 track on top - My World Is Empty Without You has never charted before, being as it predates my charts by 2 years, but was a big fave of mine in 1970 when a neighbour in Singapore let my dad borrow (and tape) The Supremes Greatest Hits album, including this not-that-well-known hit. That makes an 8th chart-topper for Diana Ross & The Supremes together, 10 number ones for The Supremes (with Mary Wilson the only member on all 10), and Diana Ross with 11 number ones in total, including 3 solo. Ashe & FINNEAS debut in my chart at 11 with a track heavily played on Radio 2, quite rightly, and at 13 Blinkie gets his 2nd chart entry 5 years on with the spoken-word/sung Black/Dance message-song Stronger, and rather good it is too. Dove Cameron debuts at 15 with a popdance goodie, in a good week for high new entries, and Olivia Rodrigo outdoes her debut entry by leaping into the 20 with Deja Vu. Years & Years return at 28, though it's really Year & Year now as Olly Alexander is essentially solo, following up a number one with Pet Shop Boys, one of two to date, as ironically It's A Sin didn't chart for me in the recent cover version. The Blow Monkeys climb rapidly into the 40, as new entries outside that include Todd Rundgren working with Sparks again for the first time in 48 years, their first record producer in pre-hit-breakthrough days, giving Sparks a second entry of 2021, a run of exactly 47 years in my charts, and gives Todd his first appearance for 35 years - one of the longest chart gaps - and a chart span of 49 years since I Saw The Light debuted when I was an innocent 14 years old. Todd has remained active as a record producer, working with New York Dolls, Badfinger, XTC, and others, and was an early adaptor of IT/electronic music to boot, with his biggest produced-hit being Bat Out Of Hell - the Meatloaf album which was the brainchild of songwriter Jim Steinman. Jim Steinman, by a quirk of fate, passed away this week, after a career of epic-sounding Wagner-influenced rock-tracks made famous by the likes of Meatloaf, Cher, Bonnie Tyler, Air Supply and Celine Dion, though he also cut his own versions of his songs too, like Rock'N'Roll Dreams Come Through which charted for me nearly 40 years ago, and returns this week in tribute. Meatloaf also did a version of that one too. Boy George also gets a second entry of the year with another 80's-sounding track, so that'll be 39 years of entries for him, via Culture Club, solo, Jesus Loves You, Band Aid and so on. This one is such a huge grower. Dance Floor Darling top 20 I've already charted this and loved it but I don't think I'll be recharting it anytime soon. Starstruck straight into the top 30 as well This is a smashing effort from Olly. Nice chart!

LazyBaby underperforming (slightly) in the results, but I'd put money on it being the most-likely chart-hit of the competition. Deja Vu is so lovely, great rhythms on it too. I was a bit slow on Dance Floor Darling, didn't grab me right off as a single potential, but it grows Starstruck is very catchy, so nice to see Olly back in the actual charts! Cheers!

Thanks for the listicles giganticus Yes a big shame about Jim Steinman, I was tempted to re-chart a lot of his classic work with other acts, but in the end just went with his best solo track to mark his loss, really, albeit briefly Thanks as always!
