Uhsting's Top 50

More graphical version of my chart can be found on Crownnote: http://crownnote.com/charts/uhsting/uhstin...op-50-songs-115

Chart commentary: This week features double the number of new entries compared to last week with 14. Jasmine Thompson's latest ballad happy for you gets the highest new entry spot just short of top 10 at no. 11. Billie Eilish's latest album Happier Than Ever sees Oxytocin debut at no. 15. Jan-Marten Block debuted with Break Out after a successful song Never Not Try. Elsewhere, jesterm bryska marks the return of Polish pop and Still Dream is the rare K-pop new entry in the top 50. Meanwhile, almost all of the spots from 41-50 are occupied by new entries.

LOVE AGAIN reaches no. 1 with its melancholic tune, while Stranger jumps all the way to no. 2. Take Me to Zion remains strong at no. 3 after peaking last week at the top spot. Peach and Hurt Like ___ are the new entrants to top 10, with the latter jumping 25 positions to no. 7. However, that's not the biggest jump as we see the angsty, provocative and short EAT SPIT! jumping 33 positions to no. 14. Both Dinosaurs (S4E7) and I Don't Need to Worry are still enjoying their stay in the top 50, now extending that to 11 weeks.

Hi uhsting!
Nice to see "NDA" getting a big gain and the debuts for "Oxytocin", "Break Out" and "Kiss My (Uh-Oh)"!
From the under 50 songs I like "Getting Older, "Don't Go Yet" and "Musketiere"!
Great chart!

Number One Entry

This is quite stripped back but it builds up grandly to the end with the strings. The song is intimate and melancholic. Ballads with good instrumentation, structure and variation are often my soft spot and melodically I connect to this song quite well. This song is also Ashwarya's favourite song “because of how daunting it was for me to get so vulnerable”. Though this song isn't an instant warm-up for me, I grew into it a lot!

Highest New Entry

Very similar to the song above, Jasmine Thompson also excels with ballads. Her sulky vocals pair well with the melody and the lyrics of the song. I'm not a big fan of her vocals featured in tropical house tracks but she sounds better for me with stripped back instrumentation, and I could connect this song well!

Highest Jump

Alternative pop is gaining ground for me and this song is dirty and unabashed. It is also very short but the instrumentation and vocals pack a punch. I also like the collaboration with Royal & the Serpent here and they surely team up well in this song! This song breeds personality and that is what grips me a lot and results in a high jump this week.

One to Watch

Another song with criminally low views and streams. I can't even find how many streams for this song on Spotify! This song hits well with mixed feelings of joy and sadness. The music video probably describes this even better. I could connect with the melody and the message of the song -- "a reflection of his personal journey as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and the headspace he was in before coming out."

Hiiii

Kiss My (uh oh) is good. It's decent. Not quite what I wanted from Little Mix after Heartbreak Anthem but it's a decent track to tide over just now.
Kindness is decent but I'm not enamoured by it sadly.
Don't Go Yet is great. It's such a quirky song but it catchy as hell.

Hi James! Kiss My (Uh Oh) is a decent pop banger, albeit a bit formulaic. The melody is pretty decent! I think Kindness does not bring an instant impact upon listening but it is certainly a grower. I could see it warm up to more people later. Don't Go Yet is a great pop song with Latin vibes. I hope this will garner more popularity soon! Thanks for commenting!

Hi, uhsting!

There's a lot of new entries, I see. Will give a listen to them soon!
Lease On Life is a good one. I'll put it on my bubbling under list.
Great to see Dawn still climbing as well.

Overall, nice week happy.gif

Hey there Uhsting hi.gif heart.gif

My favourite new entries are courtesy of Billie Eilish and Anne/Little Mix this week! I know this Billie campaign already feels like it's lasted ages but I'd love to see a proper push for 'Oxytocin' <3 'Kiss My (Uh Oh)' is good fun too, I was initially underwhelmed (due to being so used to the Lumidee song it interpolates I guess) but it clicked with me on listen #2.

Bille Eilish's new album is fire! I like a lot of the songs in the album. Break Out is such a nice tune from Jan-Marten Block, and Kiss My (Uh Oh) is a great bop! Hopefully the songs bubbling will warm up to me more in the coming few weeks smile.gif

Thanks Ken! I hope you enjoyed the new entries. Lease On Life is a decent pop from Andy Grammar and Dawn is an earworm. The drop is satisfying and memorable!

Hi Jade! <3 There will be more Billie Eilish songs from the album coming to the chart soon. Kiss My (Uh Oh) benefits from the bombastic chorus and I'm glad you warmed up on listen #2!

Sneak peek next week's chart: 16 new entries with our first ever new entry this week debuting at no. 1!
