Rita Ora) - Hot Right Now 62 25 117 Röyksopp (feat. Susanne Sundfør) - Running to The Sea 61 70 117 Taylor Swift - State of Grace As always, quite a number of new entries in this section as it seems that it can be quite hard at times for ne songs to break through. Special mention to last place though; ‘Disconnected’ was on zero points until the very last vote, whereupon it gained 7pts… however wasn’t enough to lift it out of the bottom spot. There’s some quite big drops here and actually 2 casualties from last year auto-qualifiers; ‘Dirty Paws’ drops from 35 to 67 whilst ‘Running for the Sea’ has a terrible year and drops from 25 to 62. There aren’t any auto-qualifiers for next year as this is the last year for all these songs, however both of those finish poorly, but lets see what did a little better… Almost There… 60 62 119 alt-j- Tessellate 59 39 119 Jessie Ware - If You're Never Gonna Move 58 NE 122 Marina & The Diamonds - Bubblegum Bitch 57 55 123 Amelia Lily - You Bring Me Joy 56 37 123 Avicii - Silhouettes 55 63 125 Fun. - Some Nights 54 58 129 Girls Aloud - Something New 53 NE 130 P!nk - Blow Me (One Last Kiss) 52 54 131 Jessie Ware - Wildest Moments 51 44 135 xx - Angels 50 NE 137 Frank Ocean - Lost 49 46 139 M.I.A. - Bad Girls 48 40 140 Foals - My Number 47 29 148 Otto Knows - Million Voices 46 NE 149 Calvin Harris (feat. Example) - We'll Be Coming Back 45 32 150 Grimes - Oblivion 44 36 154 Jay-Z & Kanye West (feat. Frank Ocean) - No Church In The Wild 43 42 154 Katy Perry - Wide Awake 42 26 155 Ellie Goulding - Anything Could Happen 41 45 155 Frank Ocean - Pyramids 40 61 155 Nicki Minaj - Pound The Alarm 39 65 155 Weeknd - Wicked Games 38 33 166 Rihanna - Where Have You Been 37 50 168 Ke$ha - Die Young 36 28 169 PSY - Gangnam Style Just before hitting the (would be) auto-qualifiers/ semi final/ finalist positions, here we can see a few more drops from last years auto-qualifiers list. ‘’Gangnam Style’, ‘Where Have You Been’, ‘Anything Could Happen’, ‘Oblivion’ and ‘Million Voices’ are gained auto-qualification last year, although this is their final year, all of these songs did lose their support, and don’t really end on a high. There are quite a number of new-entries in this section though as ‘Bubblegum Bitch’ enters at 58, ‘Blow Me’ enters at 53, ‘Lost’ at 50’ and ‘We’ll Be Coming Back’ is the second highest new entry at 46. We also have hefty gains for ‘Wicked Games’ which climbs from 65 to 39 and ‘Pound the Alarm’ which climbs 61 to 40; both songs finishing highly in their last year. Would Be Auto Qualifiers 35 09 172 Calvin Harris (feat. Florence Welch) - Sweet Nothing 34 53 178 Little Mix – DNA 32 31 181 Coldplay (feat. Rihanna) - Princess Of China 33 30 181 Rihanna (feat. Mikky Ekko) - Stay 31 49 182 Neighbourhood - Sweater Weather 30 14 183 Woodkid - Run Boy Run 29 24 185 Solange - Losing You 28 NE 187 Arctic Monkeys - R U Mine? 27 34 194 Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) 26 81 196 Stooshe - Black Heart 25 52 197 Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together 24 22 199 Lana Del Rey - Blue Jeans 23 38 208 Alex Clare - Too Close 22 21 215 Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe 21 15 223 Swedish House Mafia – Greyhound The would’ve been auto-qualifiers for next year sees quite a number of changes to last years list; ‘DNA’, ‘Black Heart’, ‘Sweater Weather’ and ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ all take big climbs to hit the (would be) auto-qualifiers list. ‘Too Close also surges 38-23 to also climb onto the list, ‘Too Close’ did extremely well this year and did have a semi-finalist position at certain points of the vote. ‘R U Mine’ also enters in 28th place. However whilst there has been some big movement upwards, there are quite a number of casualties from last years semi-final line up. ‘Sweet Nothing’ bombs this year, dropping 26 places to 35th place, ‘Run Boy Run’ drops 16 places and ‘Greyhound’ slides 6 places; all three out of the semi-finals in their final year. I would say that dance doesn’t seem to have been that badly affected, unlike 2013, as we shall see… Semi-Finals 20 20 228 Porter Robinson - Language 19 19 230 Cheryl - Call My Name 18 27 230 Marina & The Diamonds - Primadonna 17 13 231 Lana Del Rey - Ride 16 18 234 Ellie Goulding - Figure 8 15 23 238 Jay-Z & Kanye West - N****s In Paris 14 16 249 P!nk - Try 13 04 290 David Guetta (feat. Sia) - Titanium 12 08 293 Rihanna - Diamonds 11 12 295 Fun. (feat. Janelle Monae) - We Are Young 10 10 315 Disclosure (feat. Sam Smith) - Latch 09 02 323 Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks 08 07 328 Azealia Banks (feat. Lazy Jay) - 212 07 03 329 Rudimental (feat. John Newman) - Feel The Love 06 64 330 Taylor Swift - All Too Well So a few new faces going through to the semi-finals this year, ‘Primadonna’ and ‘N****s In Paris’ climb 8 places each to reach the semi-final in their last year. However the biggest climb here is ‘All Too Well’ which surges 58 places and into the semi-finals for the first time. The song has gained new attention thanks to the 10 minute version released in 2021, it misses out on going straight through to the final round by a single point. There’s also a mass exodus from last years top 5 as ‘Titanium’ drops 9 places to 13, ‘Little Talks’ drops 7 places to 9th and ‘Feel The Love’ drops 4 places to 7th. All 3 songs went directly through to the finals last year, this year they must battle it out in the semi-finals. Should also point out ‘Latch’ was doing incredibly well at certain points and challenging heavily for a finalist position, however couldn’t quite make it, but as you can see from the results places 10-2 are quite close… Finals 05 17 331 Florence & The Machine - Spectrum (Original / Calvin Harris Remix) 04 06 338 Swedish House Mafia (feat. John Martin) - Don't You Worry Child 03 05 347 Lana Del Rey - Born To Die 02 11 348 Loreen - Euphoria 01 01 461 Gotye (feat. Kimbra) - Somebody That I Used To Know No real surprises as to what comes out on top in this group, ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ completely steamrolled all the competition and finishes 127pts ahead of 2nd place in its final year on Record of the Decade. However we have 3 different songs going straight to the finals this year compared to last… although all 3 have been in this position in previous years. ‘Spectrum’ dropped to 17th place last year from 3rd in 2020, so this year manages to recover and go straight through to the final again, beating ‘All Too Well’ by 1pt. Also recovering after dropping a couple of years ago from being automatically in the final is ‘Euphoria’ which managed to pull in quite a lot of support this year to gain 2nd place. ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ meanwhile climbs 2 places and back into the top 5, whilst ‘Born to Die’ climbs 2 places, into the top 3. Gotye winning by a lot again is completely unsurprising but deserved, I'd put it down as a big contender for winning this year seeing as this is its final chance which may incentivise some voters.
Great to see Spectrum and DYWC returning to the top five, and I can get behind a Euphoria revival too, just a shame for Titanium to be losing a lot of ground but I trust it'll be able to smash the semi-finals. Boo at Greyhound just missing out on a semi-final place but at least it didn't take Language down with it as well. Sweet Nothing's huge fall is rather WTF but it out-doing Spectrum last year was equally surprising. No point in caring for 'AQ status' anyhow for this year but at least it held on barely to the top 35. Makes total sense for All Too Well to climb massively this year (even if it did miss my votes) and great to see Paris claim a SF place too. Much less enthused about Primadonna climbing in though. |

Phew at Porter just barely scraping into the semi-finals a second year in a row (shame it's at the expense of 'Greyhound' but nvm)! Will count that as a decent result for it to bow out with regardless of how it does in the semis. Excellent to see 'All Too Well' (for obvious reasons) and 'Nathans In Paris' climbing to become semi-finalists too (supporting both Kanye and Taylor xx) + the moral AQs at the end of the runs for 'R U Mine?' and especially 'Sweater Weather' <3
Interesting to see the support returning to near full force for Loreen this time after faltering in the last edition. Think on the whole I prefer the songs exiting the top 5 to those entering but hope that 'Little Talks' should be good to make the final anyway (I don't think I actually voted for any of those 6 songs but that and 'Spectrum (Say My Name)' were very close). |

Well that was a pretty dreadful set of results. So much that I voted for seemed to take massive tumbles - Jessie Woodkid Grimes Royksopp
Only All Too Well reversed the trend, which was probably to be expected - it went from 16 points to 28 in my own votes |

Loreen going back to where she deserves! Happy to see All Too Well do so well too! A decent Top 20 overall.

Pleased to see Sweater Weather in the top 35. As I nominated it for 2013, I can't help but feel it might have autoqualified for real there, still I'll take the moral victory of it doing enough to have done so in any year but this one. My other seven 2012/2013 nominations did as little as I expected.
