62 NE 111 BABYMETAL - Gimme Chocolate!!

A hefty amount of new entries here, including 3 songs which didn't gain a single point throughout the week. 4 songs climb from outside the top 100 to inside, the highest of these being 'Anaconda' which surges from 119 to 88. 'Gimme Chocolate!!' is the 3rd highest new entry in this year behind 'Stay the Night' and 'Boom Clap' We have some big climbs for 'Drown' which climbs from 90 to 70, 'My Type' which surges 30 places to 63, Lullaby which climbs to 78 and 'Dangerous Love' which climbs from 88 to 64. However there are a few which aren't so lucky; 'Real Love' drops from 45 to 79, 'All of Me' slides from 41 to 85, 'Rude!' drops 40 to 76 'Moument' bombs from 44 to 90. All of those songs almost made the auto-qualifying list last year, but this year their support seems to have deserted them.

Nearly There

60 81 114 Little Mix - Salute
59 76 114 Sigma (feat. Paloma Faith) - Changing
58 69 115 Indiana - Solo Dancing
57 92 115 Veronicas - You Ruin Me

54 NE 118 Zedd (feat. Hayley Williams) - Stay The Night
53 73 119 Royal Blood - Figure It Out
52 66 120 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud
51 55 120 Lana del Rey - Ultraviolence
50 47 122 5 Seconds of Summer - She Looks So Perfect
49 65 122 First Aid Kit - My Silver Lining

47 59 129 Maroon 5 - Animals
46 32 132 Klingande - Jubel
45 48 137 Wolf Alice - Moaning Lisa Smile
44 49 140 Ten Walls - Walking With Elephants
43 46 146 Watermat - Bullit
42 43 147 Wankelmut & Emma Louise - My Head Is A Jungle (MK Remix)
41 24 155 Faul & Wad vs. Pnau - Changes
40 51 159 Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One
39 NE 161 Charli XCX - Boom Clap
38 34 163 Pitbull (feat. Kesha) - Timber
37 33 172 Magician (feat. Years & Years) - Sunlight
36 22 173 FKA Twigs - Two Weeks

Some big climbs in this section as 'Salute' climbs from 81 to 60 for Little Mix, 'You Ruin Me' surges from 92 to 57, 'Figure it Out' climbs 20 places to 53 and we have some big climbs for 'Changing' at 59, 'Solo Dancing at 58' and 'Zombie' climbs 23 places to 56. 'Boom Clap' is the highest new entry in this year, however only makes it as high as 39, it was in the running for the auto qualify list from the start, but its support dried up the longer the vote vote on. Whilst there are some big climbs/ new entries, 5 songs drop from the auto-qualify list for next year; 'Jubel' drops from 32 to 46, 'Changes' slides 24 to 41, 'Timber' falls from 34 to 38, 'Sunlight' drops from 33 to 37 and 'Two Weeks' falls from 22 to 36. All of these miss out on auto-qualifying for next year, but what has replaced them...

Auto-Qualifying

35 36 174 Ariana Grande (feat. Iggy Azalea) - Problem
34 31 177 Duke Dumont (feat. Jax Jones) - I Got U
33 23 178 Vance Joy - Riptide
32 38 184 Idina Menzel - Let It Go
31 82 190 Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky
30 18 191 Ariana Grande (feat. The Weeknd) - Love Me Harder
29 26 202 Iggy Azalea (feat. Charli XCX) - Fancy
28 28 203 Katy Perry (feat. Juicy J) - Dark Horse
27 15 205 Zhu – Faded
26 13 214 Lana Del Rey - West Coast
25 29 214 Lorde - Yellow Flicker Beat
24 25 219 Taylor Swift - Shake It Off
23 17 224 Bombay Bicycle Club - Luna
22 10 224 Sigma - Nobody To Love
21 39 228 Avicii (feat. Dan Tyminski) - Hey Brother

Some quite big movement here as songs climb to auto-qualify for next year, however other songs which made it to the semi-finals in 2021 take a bit of a hit this year. 'Problem' climbs a place to hit the auto-qualify list for next year, it is joined by 'Let it Go' which climbs 6 places to 38 and 'Hey Brother' which jumps from 39 to 21. However the big climb in this section goes to 'Iron Sky' which rockets from 82 to 31 to join the auto-qualifiers list. In 2021, Iron Sky gained just 99 points and was in 82nd place, however this year gained a number of high rankings to secure 190 pts and a 51 place climb to 31. By contrast taking a drop from the semi-finals are 'Love Me Harder' which drops from 12 places to 30, 'Faded' drops 15-27, 'West Coast' slides 13-26, 'Luna' falls 17-23 and 'Nobody to Love' bombs from 10-22, all of those are now out of the semi finals rounds, but was has made it....?

Semi-Finals

20 27 234 Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars
19 35 238 Beyoncé (feat. Jay-Z) - Drunk in Love
18 19 243 George Ezra - Budapest
17 21 247 Taylor Swift - Out of The Woods
16 07 250 Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix)
15 20 254 Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This
14 37 256 G.R.L - Ugly Heart
13 30 257 Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down
12 09 264 HAIM - If I Could Change Your Mind
11 03 268 Clean Bandit (feat. Jess Glynne) - Rather Be
10 14 271 Lorde - Team
09 11 277 Oliver Heldens & Becky Hill - Gecko (Overdrive)
08 16 290 Ariana Grande (feat. Zedd) - Break Free
07 04 291 Lilly Wood and The Prick - Prayer In C (Robin Schulz Remix)
06 06 301 Kiesza - Hideaway

Some big climbs here especially for 'Ugly Heart' which leap frogs the auto-qualify list to jump from 37 to 14 and straight into the semi-finals. The song had a bit of a slow start, however gained momentum as the vote went on. 'A Sky Full of Stars' climbs 7 places to hit the semi-finals for Coldplay, which are in general receiving quite a bit of attention at the moment due to their performances at Wembley. 'Drunk in Love' also climbs to the Semi-Finals, jumping from 35 to 19, 'Out of the Woods climbs 4 places to 17 and 'I Will Never Let You Down' finishes off the newbies as it climbs from 30 to 13.

Whilst some big climbs, there are a few drops from last years top 10; notably 'Rather Be' drops from 3 to 11; last year automatically in the finals, this year it has to battle it out in the semi's. Similarly 'Prayer in C' drops from 4 to 7 and is also out of the top 5 and being automatically into the final round. 'Waves' slides from 7 to 16 and 'If I Could Change Your Mind' drops from 9 to 12, the latter had an extremely slow start and looked set to bomb, however it had an extremely strong finish to remain in the semis. So what made the final?

cheer.gif Finalists cheer.gif

05 08 303 Ella Henderson - Ghost
04 12 344 Taylor Swift - Blank Space
03 02 364 Sia - Chandelier
02 05 371 Tove Lo - Habits (Stay High) (Original / Hippie Sabotage Remix)
01 01 475 Katy B - Crying For No Reason

Possibly not much of a shock to see 'Crying for No Reason' stay at the top and does so which a 104 point lead over 2nd place, it dominated the vote from the off and whilst 'Chandelier' was topping during the middle of the vote, the Katy B song finished strongly to finish well ahead. 'Habits' climbed to the top 5 last year, this year it climbs a further 3 places to finish as runner-up. 'Chandelier' drops a place whilst 'Blank Space' climbs 8 places to finish at 4, reversing its drop from last year and 'Ghost' climbs 3 places to hit 5th place.

Got to admire the consistency of my fave house tracks landing in that 41-50 section once again laugh.gif

An encouraging gain for Drown this year although it's still a long way off becoming an AQ, and nice to see Coldplay making it through to the semi-finals here!

Strong top 5. However to see the glorious Two Weeks miss out by a point to the somewhat less glorious Problem is... disappointing

Oops forgot to comment on these results the other day - these have a few more highlights than the 2015 ones, 'Drunk In Love' and 'A Sky Full Of Stars' are great new/returning semi-finalists and fab to see 'Blank Space' direct to the final this year too. Plus 'Iron Sky' with that huge rise to get an AQ! heart.gif

As with 'Ocean Drive' in 2015 though I've lost my +30 from the semi-finalists ('Luna') cry.gif but tbf I'd been surprised at how well that's done in this in the past, at least it's still a comfortable AQ. Shame that 'West Coast' and 'Faded' lost their semi-final slots too and that 'Two Weeks' and 'Changes' lost their AQs </3

Taylor is doing very well this year! Excellent to see 'Out Of The Woods' ascending to the top 20 as that is quite possibly my favourite song of hers nowadays.

fab for Avicii to climb so much with Hey Brother though shame it fell out of the semi-finals at the last hurdle. ASFOS making it in kinda makes up for that though. Boo at Sigma and Zhu dropping out the top 20 and not being replaced by anything better. At least Oliver Heldens, Robin Schulz x2 and Kiesza are still comfortably in the semis (but oops at Clean Bandit having a rather tragic fall from 3-11).
