Bayern Munich have sacked manager Julian Nagelsmann after less than two years in charge and appointed Thomas Tuchel as his replacement until 2025.

The German side have won the last 10 Bundesliga titles and sit second in the table this season - one point behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.

They beat Paris St-Germain to reach the Champions League quarter-finals, where they will face Manchester City.

This took a lot of people here by surprise, the media reports I’m seeing are talking of issues off pitch that have brought him down because the on-pitch results have been fine

They're not 10 points clear so that's failure in the Bayern board's eyes...

Lionel Messi's name was met by whistles from some Paris St-Germain fans before they fell to a seventh defeat of 2023 at home to Lyon.

The Argentine, linked to Barcelona when his contract expires this summer, has seen two Champions League last-16 exits in his two seasons at the club.

Whistles could be heard as his name was announced beforehand, although some fans chanted his name in support.

Not a good situation - I'm sure neither of them will be pleased with what they did but sometimes these things can happen in the spur of the moment. Hopefully they'll be able to reconcile and accept they were in the wrong.

Ajax's Eredivisie match with Groningen was abandoned after just nine minutes because fans of the relegated hosts threw fireworks on to the pitch twice.

The players were taken off in the sixth minute as smoke bombs were thrown before a fan ran on to the pitch with a banner calling for the Groningen board to resign.

Three minutes after the restart more fireworks were thrown.

The referee called the match off in line with new Dutch rules.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says the club have told him he will be staying in his role.

The Italian, who has been linked with taking over as Brazil's manager, also said he wanted to see out his current deal with the Spanish club.

"Everyone knows really well what my situation is: I have a contract until the end of the 2024 season and I want to stay," said Ancelotti.

When asked if Real had assured him that he was staying, Ancelotti added: "Yes."

Ancelotti managed the Bernabeu club for two years between 2013 and 2015, with his departure coming a year after he had won the Champions League, and he returned for a second stint in charge after leaving Everton in June 2021.

He led Real to a 14th European Cup and the Spanish league title last season but they have failed to reach those heights in the current campaign

Juventus have been docked 10 points following a new hearing into the club's past transfer dealings.

Juve were initially handed a 15-point penalty in January but Italy's highest sporting court overturned that decision in April and ordered the case to be re-examined.

The new ruling was announced on Monday, before the team's 4-1 defeat at Empoli.

The penalty drops Juve to seventh place in Serie A, outside the European qualification spots.

A long time coming. My Hertha supporting coworkers have been expecting it for a long time. They barely avoided it last year (I was at the home leg of the relegation playoff)

A Union supporting coworker was lowkey revelling in Schadenfreude on Monday
