62 NE 136 Capital Cities – Safe & Sound
61 47 138 Clean Bandit (feat. Love Ssega) - Mozart's House

As always, quite a number of new entries in this section, but also a number of songs which have taken quite heavy drops this year. Most notably ‘Bros’ and ‘22’ were nearly at the auto-qualify stage last year but both take heavy drops, further in the results you can see it isn’t the strongest opener for Taylor Swift (something I noted in the 2014 results too). Also to note, despite getting a nom ‘Thursday’ manages the feat of gaining 0pts; 1 less than last year.

Almost There…

60 59 140 Imagine Dragons – Demons
59 NE 145 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (feat. Wanz) - Thrift Shop
58 39 145 Armin van Buuren (feat. Trevor Guthrie) - This Is What It Feels Like

51 60 166 Arctic Monkeys - Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?
50 51 170 AlunaGeorge - Attracting Flies
49 31 172 Disclosure (feat. Eliza Doolittle) - You & Me
48 34 173 Naughty Boy (feat. Sam Smith) - La La La
47 43 173 Katy B - 5AM
46 57 176 HAIM - Don't Save Me
45 NE 177 Iggy Azalea – Work
44 32 178 Lorde - Ribs
43 22 181 Foxes - Youth
42 35 182 London Grammar - Wasting My Young Years
41 66 182 Imagine Dragons - Radioactive
40 20 184 Arcade Fire - Reflektor
39 50 192 OneRepublic - Counting Stars
38 12 195 Lorde - Royals
37 48 198 Calvin Harris (feat. Ellie Goulding) - I Need Your Love
36 NE 200 Saturdays - What About Us

A few auto-qualifiers and 2 of last years semi-finalists take quite big hits here. ‘Young and Beautiful’, ‘You and Me’, ‘La La La’ ‘Youth’ and ‘Ribs’ would’ve all lost their auto-qaulifying spots next year had they still been eligible. Also a big drop for ‘Reflektor’ which is down 20 places and out of the semi-finals, but a bigger drop of 26 places for ‘Royals’ which placed in 12th last year but drops to 38 this year. The Saturdays finish in 36th place and just 2pts behind the song in 35th. Obviously all the songs are out next year, but they were close to gaining a would-be auto qualifying spot.

Would Be Auto Qualifiers

35 38 202 Klangkarussell (feat. Will Heard) - Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine)
34 25 205 Kanye West - Black Skinhead
33 10 208 Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble
32 13 208 P!nk (feat. Nate Ruess) - Just Give Me A Reason
31 11 210 Avicii (feat. Aloe Blacc) - Wake Me Up
30 42 212 Lily Allen - Hard Out Here
29 36 213 Katy Perry - Roar
28 23 215 Calvin Harris & Alesso (feat. Hurts) - Under Control
27 52 216 Mariah Carey (feat. Miguel) - #Beautiful
26 09 218 Tom Odell - Another Love
25 40 219 Martin Garrix – Animals
24 29 226 Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop
23 45 226 John Newman - Love Me Again
22 30 232 Britney Spears - Work Bitch
21 41 240 Chase & Status (feat. Louis M^ttrs) - Lost & Not Found

Some more big drops here and a number of songs which lose their semi-final place. I noted that Taylor Swift didn’t have a strong vote; ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ slides 23 places this year and out of the semi-final zone. Similarly ‘Just Give Me a Reason’ drops 19 places to 32 and ‘Wake me Up’ drops 20 places to 31. ‘Another Love’ also registers a large drop out of the semi-finals area sliding from 9th to 26th. I guess the hype from last year has died down now, so its support wasn’t quite as strong. However a very strong year for other songs with a number of changes if the songs were still eligible next year. Most notably ‘Hard Out Here’ climbs 12 places to 30, ‘Roar’ climbs 5 places after just missing out last year, ‘#Beautiful’ climbs 25 places, ‘Animals’ climbs 15 and ‘Lost & Not Found’ misses out on the Semi-Finals by just 10 points.

Semi-Finals

20 37 250 Wilkinson (feat. Becky Hill) – Afterglow
19 24 250 Avicii vs. Nicky Romero - I Could Be The One
18 27 252 Drake (feat. Majid Jordan) - Hold On, We're Going Home
17 14 254 Lady Gaga - Applause
16 19 255 Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball
15 17 259 HAIM - Falling
14 28 268 1975 - Chocolate
13 26 269 London Grammar - Strong
12 16 289 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (feat. Ray Dalton) - Can't Hold Us
11 15 290 Little Mix - Move
10 21 304 Icona Pop (feat. Charli XCX) - I Love It
09 08 309 Paramore - Still Into You
08 18 314 Zedd (feat. Foxes) – Clarity
07 04 342 Justin Timberlake - Mirrors
06 07 348 Disclosure (feat. AlunaGeorge) - White Noise

A few changes to the Semi-Final line up, Avicii may have lost ‘Wake Me Up’ but ‘I Could be the One’ climbs 5 places to hit the semi-finals. ‘Afterglow’ climbs 17 places and ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’ climbs 9 places to 18. ‘Chocolate’ and ‘Strong also take big climbs to hit the semi-finals this year and after a drop from 6th to 21st last year, ‘I Love It’ is back into the semi’s this year after quite big support – it was leading the vote early on before dripping back. ‘Mirrors’ drops out of being automatically in the final as it drops from 4th to 7th. ‘Clarity’ takes a big 10 place climb to hit 8th whilst ‘White Noise’ climbs a place and finishes 4pts behind the song in 5th.

05 03 352 CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share
04 05 368 Lana Del Rey - Summertime Sadness (Original / Cedric Gervais Remix)
03 06 374 Bastille – Pompeii
02 02 399 Daft Punk (feat. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers) - Get Lucky
01 01 434 Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know?

Not too much change here apart from ‘Pompeii’ climbing 3 places this year to finish in 3rd place. ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ continues to dominate this year with ‘Get Lucky’ once again taking the runner-up slot. ‘Summertime Sadness’ and ‘The Mother We Share’ round out the top 5 and all proceed directly to the final round.

Oh poo at Wake Me Up dropping so much in its final year, and after making last year’s overall top 50. At least we have ICBTO scraping a semi-finalist position to make up for it somewhat. Hopefully that has enough top-heavy support to nab a final spot now.
Pleasing to see big climbs for Wilkinson, Chase & Status and Martin Garrix too. Besides Wilkinson, those other semi-final additions are welcome too. Zedd gaining into the top 10 and Disclosure amazingly close to top five also great. Hopefully Disclosure actually make it past the semis this time.

As with 2014, happy with the song rising into the top 5 even if I do prefer the one it kicked out, and another couple of great climbers into the top 20 with 'Strong' and 'Chocolate' - a bit gutted that the 'Pure Heroine' songs are mostly bowing out with pretty bad results though </3 ah well, at least we still have 'Green Light' (and 'Tennis Court' having a climb even if still to a way too low position) x

Also noooo so close to 'Lost & Not Found' making the semis for its swansong - has it ever got past the first round before? My memory for ROTD results always sucks oops. A bit sad at the big drop for 'Another Love' too.
