Its weird that Hide Away never did anything in the UK after it was a moderate hit in the US and Australia (it spent 4 weeks Top 10 in AU). I thought shed take off after a while akin to Dua Lipa (Be The One also spent 4 weeks Top 10 here around the same time in 2016).

And it's all thanks to Taylor if certain posters are to be believed! No one has said that? Just that the eras tour helped make Sabrina a mainstream artist? Which is a fact. The amount of promo and Viral TikToks/articles/social media presence from the tour dramatically helped her, first day listens were huge compared to her previous entries. The song itself is a hit also, but its not had to organically grow like Hoziers Too Sweet because of her presence on the eras tour helping her become well known. Nothing wrong with great promo? And I dont doubt the song will have grown to huge streams with other being on the eras tour, but it would have taken weeks longer imo; but she had a shortcut, which is good going and good of her/her team to get her on that tour. Its exactly the same that going on the X factor and being a judge really helped Cheryl become a household name and allowed her music to debut straight away at #1 compared to Nadine/others, it gave her a head start/ big platform.. with the exact same music and no X factor she wouldnt have had such high first few week sales, she would have had to grow each week - Just a question, do you know how promo works? It's obvious that Taylor's and Sabrina's fanbases overlap. I have literally seen Swifties making videos about her and discussing her music.
Now, do I think it ALONE would've made Espresso smash this much? I don't. Feather and Nonsense were mid-sized hits already before all this. |

Well I didn't know much about Sabrina or any of that stuff, but obviously feather went around for a long time. What I would say is from a Taylor Swift bubble i guess it made Sabrina a bigger name to them than she otherwise would have been. If this gained her popularity and notoriety in that bubble maybe it meant a song like expresso got bigger quicker which in part led to where it is now. So the logic might make sense from that bubble. Obviously outside the bubble it sounds absurd and has little relevance. Expresso would have went 1 even if she toured with imagine dragons

People keep under estimating Taylors fanbase and influence on the charts, I thought after the past week people would understand, especially in the US which trials to the U.K. also

Seems to be the longest autoplay an artist has received Well, I think it normally lasts 2 weeks? Hozier for example, seems like it had it in weeks 3 and 4 where he got to over 900,000, and now it's finished and he's back down to 700,000. For Sabrina it looks like it's happened in weeks 2 and 3 so I would expect if it follows a similar pattern it will fall to around 800,000 next week, and I guess another song will be chosen to replace it. At least that's what it seems like is happening anyway. If so, at least it'll make the #1 turnover a bit faster lol. |

At least that's what it seems like is happening anyway. If so, at least it'll make the #1 turnover a bit faster lol. 2 weeks seems alot - also how do you differentiate between that and songs actually losing steams. I mean not even the biggest songs can keep up 1 million/ 900k streams for such a long period of time anyway - auto play aside. Hozier only got over 900k once, on the 16th April (looking back) - the rest of the time he was doing around 800k. Yes he got some big rises, but then the song was popular and catching on with the public. Even now its still doing 700k and not that far off what he was doing a couple of weeks ago. But then you'd expect songs to peak and level off as they're not going to hold their popularity or steam levels for such a big period of time. I just think its easy to jump on the its autoplay bandwagon, but actually I think Too Sweet and Espresso are popular anyway This post has been edited by ElectroBoy: 1st May 2024, 01:29 PM |
