Been ages since I played an album, so let's play the new CD, Nonetheless, and review: 4. NEW LONDON BOY Lush. Still got the knack for a melody that tugs at my heartstrings. Lovely chords. Then break for a pseudo-West End Girls rap. Back to the melodic lushness, and the lyrics are more observational young man in town tale, seemingly. 5. DANCING STAR Single 2, Rudolf Nuryev biographical, more historical new boy with talent in town, a proper late 80's sounding Pet Shop Boys single, Domino Dancing-rhythmed, does everything right, ticks the box, tops my personal chart, and links thematically in with New London Boy. The West End Girls and Domino Dancing references are rather blatant. Still, if you can't plagiarise yourself, who can you plagiarise? |

Officially number 2 on over 22,000 sales and also debuts at number 13 here in Ireland.

Really hope they can build on this and get a number one album next time round!

Me to as they deserve another number 1, I wonder how far it will fall this week.

Its not my fave on the album but i do like it and can see why its picked as a single although it probably doesnt matter what they release as single wise it will do nothing, hopefully it might help the album sell a few more copies.

Fair play to them doing a video for the single especially when they know it wont be a hit but it does help give the song an identity.

I really don't understand why acts like the PSB do videos for post-album singles in this day and age. Surely it's not financially viable? Even if it's a cheap video it's still going to cost a few thousand pounds at the very least. Hardcore fans are going to stream the song/album regardless (and buy a physical single if one is available), I'm not sure what purpose the video serves?

They've always been a very visual act so I think it's nice that they continue to do the videos and also release b-sides (which nobody else really does anymore).
I doubt they make much profit from any aspect of releasing and promoting music, and that they make that on tour. Their tours always go on for years. A New Bohemia was the biggest grower on the album for me, I'd go as far to say I like it more than the first two singles. But still prefer Feel and The Schlager Hit Parade. |

Oh yeah I think it's definitely nice for them to keep making videos, I'm just surprised that the record company still commission them. I also agree that it's great that they release B-sides too, I wish more people did that.

The Pet Shop Boys remain traditional in the way they release singles which we need more of.
