My first impression on "Loneliness" is a bit meh. The instrumental is a bit basic.

One listen in and I think it's great, it harks back to their early 90s material and brings back great memories for me. Best thing from them since the Pop Kids.

Really liked Through You on the EP. Party in the Blitz less so.
Loneliness is pretty good and I like the album title and cover - nice to see them on it for once. Also: The Schlager Hit Parade - is this a song about my personal chart? This post has been edited by gooddelta: 31st January 2024, 02:05 PM |

My first impression on "Loneliness" is a bit meh. The instrumental is a bit basic. I begrudgingly agree with this. Judging by Bjork's comment I was expecting something properly amazing! It's not bad but I'm finding it very average on first listen. Can't say the two B-sides are doing much for me either sadly. I'm just hoping the album has better to offer as I really liked Hotspot (can't believe it's been 4 years since their last studio album already!) For me it's love at first listen and I'm not even a fan, last thing I truly liked from them was Love Etc

The new single sounds more like their older material which I guess is not surprising given they have returned to Parlophone but why only 4 tracks on the 2nd cd of the deluxe? Surely they could have done more new versions of older hits.

Seeing as Pet Shop Boys are frequently appearing on compilations again and Now like going overboard with album artists on the numbered series, then there’s a chance of Loneliness appearing on Now 117

The second single, Dancing Star, and its b-sides, are out.
Good track, I guess partly because it owes a very large debt to Domino Dancing. |

I think I prefer this one, Loneliness never clicked much with me.
The Pop Kids remains my favourite lead of theirs since Love Etc. |
