January 31, 20169 yr Author Chart runs and what to expect from them My chart consists of a top 30, all of which are a mixture of chart hits and other less popular songs I know. Sometimes I may have a song enter high in the chart (top 10 for example) and even though I'll go off it straight away, for the sake of keeping the chart relatively realistic, the song will have a steady fall instead of an instant drop. For example- The Beatles - Hey Jude (2-13-24-out-) Instead of.. The Beatles - Hey Jude (2-out-) This gives the chart a more realistic and structured feel to it and helps with the constant flow of climbers and new entries. If I really like a song, it's rare that it'll go straight in at number one. It will usually enter somewhere lower, and then climb the next week, just to make sure it is a worthy number one (as there is a chance I might go off it during the next week and it'll fall unrealistically). For example- Drake - Hotline Bling (1-) And then if I stop liking it the week after.. Drake - Hotline Bling (1-14-etc) Which makes the chart seem unrealistic and makes the number one seem like it wasn't a true number one. So this gives me leeway to decide if the song will climb in the next chart or not. When a song enters, it may fall straight out of the chart in the next week, but re-enter the week after. I keep a record of 20 songs that could fill up some of the places between 20-30 along with songs established in my chart, so that's why songs may re-enter. I might consider publishing this as a bubbling under chart, but it's quite strange as some of them are songs that wouldn't usually be seen anywhere near my chart which on the off-chance might enter at 30 or 29 just to fill up a bit of space. For example (this weeks)- Doop - Tequila Rihanna ft Drake - Work Marcus Butler ft Conor Maynard - I'm Famous These are some of the strange picks I have that may have entered my top 30. :D
