Given that a lot of people seemed surprised that McAlmont & Butler even reached the final, being in and out of the top ten for a while was a pleasant surprise. A mid-table finish is a lot better than I was hoping for after those comments. Good to see lots of appreciation for Bernard Butler's great guitar playing and David McAlmont's extraordinary voice and to get the chance to highlight the fact that the magnificent Yes isn't their only song.

Late thanks to Bøtanikkä and Land of DW for 15 points!
Very jubilant to be finishing in the top half once again after trailing very low on the leaderboard! Proud to have sent this track and received warm reception. I hope the next one is going to be excellent too but I think it will be a bit risky. That being said, my huge huge well done to Iz for hosting this edition. Everything has been to the point and well thought-through. I love it is anime-themed and Iz knows his stuff really well, so credits for all the hard-work there! |

Congrats to Burbe! Great to see a first-time winner, Given the song a relisten and it's not bad, not the sort of thing I usually point but can see it's appeal. I am sad that Trifoski couldn't quite do it after that amazing start as that was easily my favourite discovery from the contest, but at least it improved the performance of the last DJ Sabrina entry, Magdalena Bay was another good one so a great top 3 overall.
Not bottom 5 is an achievement, I will take it I got massively lucky with that semi draw so wasn't expecting anything big in the final, I hope some made a good discovery out of it as it's a real forgotten gem, and at least it wasn't last in the retro top 40 race, I was a bit off in my initial prediction for that! Suedeonia's song was really nice, so pleased to see it outperform expectations. Of my other votes, I wish Lotunia would've been higher, but pleased to see Sovarasma and Rolloland do well. Thanks Iz for your wonderfully unique hosting, an incredible effort especially with the clashing time zones! Need to think about my next entry, have quite a few potentials but I need something that will get me out of the bottom 10! |

Wow, thought Trifoski had it in the bag when I left, massively happy Burbia won tho .
Surprised I didn’t drop down further in the votes tbh, 14th is a great result and a unique one for myself, and thanks to all the voters who voted for Karolina. Gonna probably DNQ hard with my next entry that I have in mind unless something else turns up, as it’s a weird track to send to BJSC, but I can’t stop listening to it. |

I was way off with my thoughts on how the retro top 40 hits would do - I thought Aeroche was the only one that was a safe qualifier (and it ended up scraping through and finishing near last in the final), Tartford were a likely qualifier and Singerpurear a possible qualifier (both DNQed) and yours and Terra Avium were both likely DNQs (but they ended up being the 2 best performing ones) |

How cruel that I went from 4th in the semi to 31st in the final well... at least I comfortably qualified, avoided the bottom 10 and got a unique position
thank you Izzles for your fab hosting flair + congrats to Ben, we love to see a brand new winning nation *.* |

shame to see Danævii finish poorly but I was half expecting a DNQ so not a surprise there. Bøtanikkä and Cor Lupus really deserved better too.
very pleased with Trifoski's success anyhow, I had a feeling they'd do well and a close 2nd is impressive. glad Land of DW managed to just about keep top 20 and Cumulonimbia top 10 too. |

Forgot also to congratulate St Burbia too! It is a decent pop entry to listen to. Delighted to know Chaeri lived up to the expectations and almost won the contest. A bit surprised Summericia finished that low as I think this is a typical pop entry that will drawn in votes. Same goes to POPHub's entry too. YA sounded very unique and shocked it did so well in semi-final 1 and flopped in the final which certainly Jadakissnia didn't deserve.

Well done St Burbia. 18 months later since sending Faouzia and she wins. Queen. Brilliant to see Trifoski coming 2nd. Very lovely track.
Whilst it's a bit unfortunate to miss out on top 20, 21st is a new final position for us so bittersweet really. Thank you to Jordan and the Robot for the 18's. Fantastic presentation Iz too. This post has been edited by Roba~: 23rd July 2021, 09:36 PM |

Fun stat: I was just thinking it seemed abnormally long since the last first-time winner (Jupiterdonia in BJSC 124) and indeed that run of 11 contests in a row with repeat winning nations was by some way the longest ever - the previous longest runs were 6 in a row in BJSCs 47-52 and 111-116. (The former of which included 3 wins by Aeroche lel)
