The second week to include Christmas songs. Outside spends a 4th week at the top, as well as the rest of the top 4 staying still. Blank Space fills the gap left by MKTO at #5 and Taylor's other 2014 hit waits just outside the top 5. Alone continues to climb now to #8, as well as Sun Goes Down just sitting out of the top 10. Closer's second weeks brings a new peak of #12, and we see 2 On climbs to #14 while Take That returns to its peak of #15. Bo$$ climbs to #17 on its 2nd week as well as Light Of Christmas' climb to #21. Long stayer Hope There's Someone may have lost hope in staying in the chart next week, as it falls a MASSIVE 11 places from #12 to #23 this week, after spending months climbing up and down the chart. Will it be overrun by Christmassy songs next week or will it maintain its success? Mariah's Christmas hit falls to #25 this week, but will it climb up again the closer to Christmas? Christmas Charts - Please see my new thread for the Christmas chart, including records and stats.
Non-movers: 4 Climbers: 11 Fallers: 8 Re-entries: 0 Highest new entry: Fifth Harmony - Sledgehammer (24) (only new) Biggest climber: Tegan & Sara - Closer (up 6 from 18 to 12) Biggest faller: Avicii - Hope There's Someone (down 11 from 12 to 23) Biggest dropout: Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone (25) (only dropout) Dropouts: 1 Dropouts

Christmas Charts - Please see my new thread for this week's Christmas chart, including records and stats. Calvin stays at the fifth week #1 spot. If he manages to stay there next week he will be tied most consecutive weeks at #1 along with Alesso and MKTO (6). Koala replaces Taylor now at #4, leaving Classic falling to the cliff edge of the top 5. Will he stay in the top 5 for the rest of 2014? Highest ever new entry since the very first chart is my second favourite artist of all time, electronic and dance producer Avicii with his latest single The Nights, is straight in at #9 with no warning. Closer misses the top 10 by one place, 2 On and Bo$$ all climb slightly this week to new peaks, as well as Owl City who makes a more impressive climb with his Christmas song only released last year, now at #18.
Non-movers: 4 Climbers: 9 Fallers: 11 Re-entries: 0 Highest new entry: Avicii - The Nights (9) (only new) Biggest climber: Owl City ft. TobyMac - Light Of Christmas (up 3 from 21 to 18) Biggest faller: New World Sound ft. Lethal Bizzle - Flutes (down 6 from 18 to 24) Biggest dropout: Ariana Grande ft. The Weeknd - Love Me Harder (22) (only dropout) Dropouts: 1 Dropouts

Christmas Charts - Please see my new thread for this week's Christmas chart, including records and stats. First of all well done to Avicii for breaking several records this week and last week. Last week he made the record for highest new entry since first chart at #9, and now has made the biggest climb within the top 10, biggest climb to #1 AND shortest amount of weeks to get to #1! A few of the oldest tracks on the chart suffer this week The top 4 shift all 1 place and The Nights denies Shake It Off a place in the top 5 Classic falls to #7, the first instance of leaving the top 5 since chart compilation 27 chart weeks ago! Tegan & Sara's 2012 track enters one place into the top 10, meaning Break Free breaks free of the top 10 for also for the first time since 27 weeks! Bo$$ climbs 4 places to #11, and These Days re-peaks now to #14. Owl City peaks 1 more place and 5H's other track reaches #22. Uptown Funk begins to climb at #23 while Duke suffers long-term breakdown at #24 falling 7 places, and Flutes is blowing as hard as it can to stay in the top 25 ( )
Non-movers: 2 Climbers: 10 Fallers: 12 Re-entries: 0 Highest new entry: Mark Ronson - Uptown Funk ft. Bruno Mars (23) (only new) Biggest climber: Avicii - The Nights (up 8 from 9 to 1) Biggest faller: Duke Dumont - Won't Look Back (down 7 from 17 to 24) Biggest dropout: Ellie Goulding - Goodness Gracious (The Chainsmokers Remix) (22) (only dropout) Dropouts: 1 Dropouts

Christmas Charts - Please see my new thread for this week's Christmas chart, including records and stats. The Nights is showing no weakness at #1 for its second week, while the whole top 3 continue to stay static this week. Last All Night take a tumble from #4 to #7, which leaves Taylor two blank spaces at #4 and #5, allowing Shake It Off to peak at #5. Classic slightly redeems itself by climbing up 1 to #6, while Closer climbs up 1 to #9 and Bo$$ peaks just in the top 10. 2 On climbs yet again just out of the top 10 while Alone slides to #12. Light Of Christmas climbs now to #15 while Hope There's Someone climbs once again, now at #17. Two new entries from Axwell Λ Ingrosso 'Something New' is in at #18 and the hilarious celebrity shaming Got No Fans is in at #24. Uptown Funk goes down town to #25 just staying in the chart. A very tough top 25 this week with the likes of Olly Murs and Ben Haenow struggling to debut!
Non-movers: 6 Climbers: 10 Fallers: 7 Re-entries: 0 Highest new entry: Axwell Λ Ingrosso - Something New (18) Biggest climber: Avicii - Hope There's Someone (up 3 from 20 to 17) Biggest faller: Robin Schulz - Sun Goes Down ft. Jasmine Thompson (down 4 from 16 to 20) Biggest dropout: Jeremih ft. YG - Don't Tell 'Em (19) Dropouts: 2 Dropouts

The Christmas tracks from Owl City and Mariah have been forced to drop out for obvious reasons, allowing for some tracks to enter the chart Avicii's future hit seems to be unstoppable as the top 3 remain static. Slow burner Shake It Off knocks off her Blank Space single to replace at #4, while Classic returns to the top 5 and Blank Space falls from 4 to 7 (seems familiar ). Bo$$ climbs another place to #9, and 2 On spends a second week knocking on the top 10 doors while Closer barricades the #10 spot Axwell Λ Ingrosso's track reaches #13 on its second week, while the hilarious internet sensation Wieldstone Raider climbs up 5 places to #19 on its second week with Got No Fans. Uptown Funk redeems itself by climbing up to #20 after falling from 23 to 25 last week, and we see two new entries from X Factor winner Ben Haenow's amazing performance of OneRepublic's Something I Need and Olly ft. Demi's latest single Up at #23 and #24, respectively. Flutes is once again at the dangerous #25 position but will any new entries knock it off next week before the top 30 extension for 2015 in 7 days time?
Non-movers: 6 Climbers: 10 Fallers: 7 Re-entries: 0 Highest new entry: Ben Haenow - Something I Need Biggest climber: Something New, Got No Fans & Uptown Funk (all 5) Biggest faller: Take That - These Days (down 4 from 14 to 18) Biggest dropout: Owl City ft. TobyMac - Light Of Christmas (15) (forced #XMAS dropout ) Dropouts: 2 Dropouts

The last bi-weekly chart of 2014, which also means the 30th chart and the last chart to be 25 positions long! The Nights will be spending another night at #1, and the rest of the top 3 will stay unchanged from last week for the fourth week in a row. Classic knocks Shake It Off to #5 and Bo$$ climbs another place to #8. Selena Gomez' catchy Slow Down 2013 hit enters at #18 and Uptown Funk goes up one place to #19. Hope There's Someone falls down 5 to #21 and we see #SELFIE star The Chainsmokers with their uncharted track Kayne at #23. Up stays in the same place without going anywhere and Duke replaces Flutes at #25 managing to keep the 30 week streak unlike Flutes, who is unfortunately #26 today and no doubt will reappear next year in the newly added 26-30 range
Non-movers: 11 Climbers: 5 Fallers: 7 Re-entries: 0 Highest new entry: Slow Down - Selena Gomez (18) Biggest climber: Take That - These Days (up 2 from #18 to #16) Biggest faller: Avicii - Hope There's Someone (down 5 from #16 to #21) Biggest dropout: Ben Haenow - Something I Need (23) Dropouts: 2 Dropouts

First 2015 chart and first to be 30 positions! The top 3 stay still as a statue for the fourth week in a row , but Shake It Off shakes Classic off the top 5 and reclaims a second non-consecutive week at the #4 peak. Can she shake up the top 3 next week? Alone makes an unexpected climb to yet another new peak, now at #7. This means Bo$$ will be stuck at the same peak and position as last time (8). Something New is left patiently waiting just outside the top 10, and we see Closer drop out from the top 10 to #12. Slow Down speeds up its second week climb to #14, while Uptown Funk goes up to #15. Kanye climbs to #21 and Got No Fans falls out of the top 20 to #23. Two new entries from George Ezra and Iggy Azalea enter at #24 and #25 respectively. What would have been dropouts had the chart not been extended to 30 positions, Duke and Olly have fallen to #27 and #29, respectively, sandwiched with three re-entries: Flutes, Real Love and Sledgehammer at #26, #28, and #30 respectively. It's looking likely that the bigger falls this week may recover after the re-entries this week are likely to drop out next week, but will any new entries next week push them down anyway?
Non-movers: 5 Climbers: 9 Fallers: 11 Re-entries: 3 Highest new entry: George Ezra - Blame It On Me (24) Biggest climber: Various Biggest faller: Olly Murs ft. Demi Lovato - Up (down 5 from 24 to 29) Biggest dropout: - Dropouts: 0 Dropouts

Second week of 2015 and second chart to be 30 positions long. Avicii is third to join the club of most consecutive weeks at #1 (6) along with Alesso's Heroes and MKTO's Classic. Classic, however, has made 8 weeks at #1 in total which is the biggest record. Can Avicii beat both records? After 4 weeks of no change, the top 4 and the top 30 in general have amassed some changes this week. Alesso returns to #2, knocking Calvin Harris what would've been #3, but slow burner Armin van Buuren storms into the top 5 at #3 on its 16th week. It has previously peaked at 8 before falling and only reaching one place higher a peak last week (#7). Shake It Off falls to 6 and Something New enters the top 10 at #9, while Oliver drops one place out of the top 10 to #11. Newer entries Slow Down, Uptown Funk and Kanye all climb up slightly, while Closer takes a tumble to #17 and Real Love returns to its peak of #24. Avicii holds on in the top 30 by slipping down 9 places to #29, the first time it has left the top 25, and we see three new entries from Phillip George, Baauer and Natalie Imbruglia at #23, #25 and #30 respectively.
Non-movers: 7 Climbers: 11 Fallers: 8 Re-entries: 0 Highest new entry: Phillip George - Wish You Were Mine (23) Biggest climber: Duke Dumont - Won't Look Back (up 5 from 27 to 22) Biggest faller: Avicii - Hope There's Someone (down 9 from 20 to 29) Biggest dropout: Wealdstone Raider - Got No Fans (23) Dropouts: 3 Dropouts

I have some depressing news this week for MKTO and Alesso AVICII HAS BROKEN THEIR LONGEST CONSECUTIVE WEEKS AT #1 RECORD! On only its eighth week in the top 30, Avicii's Upcoming The Nights track debuted at #9, the highest debut since MKTO's Thank You at #6 30 bi-weeks ago It then shot straight to #1 and has not shifted since then, this week spending its seventh consecutive week at #1. This also meant Avicii broke the record of quickest ascent to #1 (apart from MKTO's Classic of which was #1 on the first chart). Previously, Alesso ft. Tove Lo's Heroes and MKTO's Classic held the record of 6 consecutive weeks at #1, and Avicii only equaled the record on Tuesday. MKTO's Classic still holds the record for most overall weeks at #1, which is 8. Can Avicii beat MKTO's record or will some new (and maybe old) tracks do too? Elsewhere on the chart, Something New shoots into the top 5, and Classic reaches an all time low of #8. Slow Down reaches the top 10 and Uptown Funk waits at the #11 spot. Blank Space leaves the top 10 after 14 bi-weeks and we see a new entry from Kelly Clarkson, Since U Been Gone at #16. Wish You Were Mine enters the top 20, while These Days tumbles to #22. One Touch climbs up slightly to #23, and Up climbs up 1 place to re-enter the top 25. X Factor winner Ben Haenow re-enters at #29 and we say goodbye to Won't Look Back who's been in the chart ever since the start last September, spending 32 bi-weeks (and 16 weeks) in the chart. Also, Avicii's album only track Hope There's Someone leaves us after stalling the chart for 30 bi-weeks (15 weeks), climbing up and down during that time. This means that Torn is static at #30 for its second week.
Non-movers: 8 Climbers: 7 Fallers: 13 Re-entries: 1 Highest new entry: Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone (16) (only new) Biggest climber: Axwell Λ Ingrosso - Something New (up 4 from 9 to 5) Biggest faller: Take That - These Days (down 4 from 18 to 22) Biggest dropout: Duke Dumont - Won't Look Back (22) Dropouts: 2 Dropouts

A few things to add:
Apart from the long absence of Shake It Off, the latter and Blank Space runs look rather alike: SIO [13-12-11-10-10-9-6-7-6-5-4-5-4-6-7>16] BS [19-14-12-9-9-7-6-8-6-5-4-5-4-7-7-9-10-12>18] They both peaked at #4 for two non-consecutive weeks, and between those weeks spent a week at #5 i.e. 5-4-5-4. Also, not counting SIO's original debut, both tracks spent 3 weeks outside of the top 10 before reaching it, and both 9 weeks before reaching the top 5! Looking at this trend we can predict that SIO will possibly spend a couple more weeks in the top 10, as Blank Space is a couple of weeks ahead of the latter. I am predicting another week at the top for Avicii to match Classsic's overall weeks at #1 record but the rest of the chart seems hard to predict, as a lot of the recent entries are climbing up rather quickly. |

and thanks for commenting!
Yes I heard Slow Down on a vid a week or so ago. Catchy chorus I love the video for Alone. So emotional Heard Kelly on the radio on Friday. Great track and been a while Since It Was Last Heard When I was watching the Daniel Kim Pop Danthology mashup 2015 (his work is great and worth checking out ) I heard the track and here it is I love the production of Flutes but wtf with vocals? No lyric or audio vocal talent there! |

After beating Classic's record of most consecutive bi-weeks at #1, The Nights has now matched its record of most overall bi-weeks at #1 (8). Alone climbs yet another place to #2 behind the very difficult The Nights. Is it enough to knock it off next week? Shake It Off returns to the top 5. We see Uptown Funk going up into the top 10 to place at #7, and Slow Down climbs a further place to #9. Classic holds on just at #10 being allowed to stay by Blank Space at #11. Bo$$ takes a bit of a fall after spending six bi-weeks in the top 10, now to #13. Kelly climbs to #14 and 2 On re-enters the top 15. One Touch is the week's highest climber going from #23 to #17, and we see C O O L and Dance With Me star Le Youth enter at #19. Tulisa's latest track comes in at #23 and Flutes once again re-enters the top 25. Meghan Trainor only just beats Ben Haenow to the #25 spot.
Non-movers: 5 Climbers: 10 Fallers: 12 Re-entries: 0 Highest new entry: Le Youth - R E A L (19) Biggest climber: One Touch - Baauer feat. After The Night's glorious 8th week at the top, matching Classic's overall record, also holding the record of longest consecutive weeks at #1 (Classic 6, The Nights 8), added to which it also broke the quickest climb to #1 record, debuting at #9 and climbing straight to #1 the next bi-week it now has spent the most weeks at the top overall (9). Had Prayer In C not managed to get the #1 spot on Classic's would-be 7th week at the top, it would have had 9 bi-week streak and this would be The Nights matching their record Alone also stays at the unlucky #2 spot, but the record for slowest burner on the chart goes to Shake It Off, spending 18 weeks and only reaching its peak on the 18th week, now at 3. Classic goes up 1 after dicing with death last week at #10 and we see Le Youth's upcoming track R E A L climbing to #15 on its second week. 2 new entries from Ellie Goulding and Charli XCX ft. Rita Ora enter at #22 and #23 respectively with releases coming up in the next few weeks We say goodbye to Sun Goes Down and Blame It On Me this week

Thanks for commenting again Dobbo
Yes I am hoping for Avicii to claim that #1 spot, although Hey Brother is a bit better of a track it didn't make #1 but did well hovering around the top 5 and top 100 overall. It's looking like R E A L will climb up a bit more next chart. Great artist The Young but atm Dance With Me and especially C O O L overranks it I'm glad it's looking like Ellie's new song will be #1 after Uptown Funk. Two decent tracks back to back! |

After breaking the record for most bi-weeks at #1, The Nights may be competing with a flood of possible new entries this week after adding to its record a 10th bi-week at the top. Also, strong contenders for #1 could be slow burners Alone and Shake It Off if The Nights fails to maintain upkeep. Outside makes way to re-enter the top 3 and we see #5 to #9 staying static. R E A L climbs up to #10 on its third week and Love Me Like You Do taken from the Fifty Shades Of Grey upcoming soundtrack storms one place behind on its second week, having debuted at #22 last week. The next electronic viral hit, I'm An Albatraoz enters at #14, and we see Doing It climb just into the top 20. Four other new entries appear in today's top 30, including Outlines at #24, Ayo at #26, Lighthouse at #29 and just in the top 30 Time Of Our Lives. We say goodbye to the likes of Tulisa, The Chainsmokers, New World Sound, Meghan and Phillip George to make way for this week's 5 new entries.
Non-movers: 8 Climbers: 5 Fallers: 12 Re-entries: 0 Highest new entry: I'm An Albatraoz - AronChupa (14) Biggest climber: Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do (up 11 from 22 to 11) Biggest faller: Blank Space and Bullit (both down 5) Biggest dropout: Tulisa - Living Without You (24) Dropouts: 5 Dropouts
