BEST ACTRESS:

- 10 Cloverfield Lane - Mary Elizabeth Winstead -
- Arrival - Amy Adams -
- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Felicity Jones -
- The Girl On The Train - Emily Blunt -
- The Light Between Oceans - Alicia Vikander -

What a category. Would have been even better had Blake Lively made it in but oh well sad.gif My favourite here of course is Alicia Vikander's heartbreaking and so bloody underrated performance in the wonderful 'The Light Between Oceans'! She is so wonderful in it and I'm so happy she made it here!! We do right where Oscars failed and nominate Amy Adams for her fabulous turn in Arrival which is deserving of all the critical praise she has received! Emily Blunt was the only good thing in The Girl On The Train, she played Rachel perfectly and if the film had a better script then she could have been my favourite here! Felicity Jones also anchors the latest Star Wars spin-off perfectly and gets a nomination here which is something Daisy Ridley failed to do last year! And finally 10CL continues an utterly fabulous evening with a nomination for Mary Elizabeth Winstead who is terrific in the film! So so good category!

Some interesting facts here as well!:
Amy Adams nearly did what Alicia Vikander did last year and score 2 nominations in the same category but she fell just short with Nocturnal Animals!
With Jennifer Lawrence missing out, the ONLY repeat acting nominee from 2015 is Alicia Vikander who picks up her 3rd nomination in 2 years, can she make it a 2nd win though after last years triumph for Ex_Machina?!

Just missed the cut here:
Amy Adams (Nocturnal Animals), Jennifer Lawrence (Passengers), Blake Lively (The Shallows)
(From Josh's predictions, Meryl got 2 noms ohmy.gif)

Thanks everyone so much who's commented and followed the results! <3
Final nominations coming up!

Except Viola Davis? kink.gif Though I didn't see a thread for Fences on here so not overly surprised, I wasn't mad on the film, but her (and Denzel's) performance were stunning.

I totally would've stanned Arrival had I seen it before nominating so pleased to see it do very well here, and to see Midnight Special up for something, agreeable list for Best Picyure I'll gladly do write ups for Zootropolis and Rogue One btw ;o

Viola isn't eligible till next year as Fences hasn't been released here yet!

Thanks Chez and will put you down for those! wub.gif

The movie awards here only allowed movies released in 2016 in the UK so a lot of the Oscars films weren't eligible. There is a plan for a Buzzjack Oscars, I think, in the Summer which will have 2016 US eligibility (much like the Oscars) so we can still have the likes of Christina Applegate and Rachel Weisz as nominees as well as the likes of Viola Davis and Naomie Harris. biggrin.gif

Can we also point out X-Men Apocalypse getting a Best Picture nomination and FAILING to get a SINGLE nomination anywhere else!!!!!!!!!!! It got the same amount of nominations here as it did at the Razzies despite being up for Best Picture laugh.gif

(Also Suicide Squad having 7 Razzies & 9 Oscar nominations with no Picture in either of those also!)

Fantastic revealing from both of you. Really enjoyed following them!

Predicting 'Arrival' to win big here. I personally wouldn't want it too, but only because I found it overrated (not bad/crap, just overrated). Amy to do better for for 'Nocturnal Animals' over 'Arrival' though, please!

'X-Men Apocalypse' is such a bizarre "Best Picture" nominee! I swear I'm one of it's biggest fans on here and I only "liked" it! So I'm surprised to see it rally enough support to get a nomination in that! ohmy.gif
