Maybe, but it's already got the record for most weeks spent in my top 3 and the joint-record for most at #1 (12 so far). It's also a very strong contender for my EOY #1 for 2018 (I'm calling it now), everything about it is just brilliant. Perhaps surprisingly it debuted only at #3, behind two other Avicii tracks, but it just kept growing and now it's definitely my favourite of the EP. It once again demonstrates Avicii's ability to remain relevant without losing his touch, and rightfully became his biggest UK hit in years. We can't ignore Rita though, as her pitchy vocals add a lot to this track too and I'd say this song was responsible for reigniting my interest in her too, after the disappointing 'Your Song'. Avicii giving us the huge comeback I had been waiting for all year (and all of 2016 too) was my favourite musical moment of 2017 though, and this is up there with his best. It's a brilliant pop song though and really the type of thing we should be seeing more of in general but the A. G. Cook sound (he didn't produce this track but it's got his influence) isn't deemed commercial enough yet. It sounds so fresh and refused to age for many weeks which really helped it here, easily making my top 40 of the year despite its #16 peak. It was also her first UK hit, and hopefully not only but that looks likely. Her great unique voice powers through the song, over the tropical dance-pop production which actually sounds very fresh, and that isn't easy when tropical pop reached saturation point in 2017. everytime it rains, you're here in my head  Genre: House/dance-pop Label: Parlophone Records Album: non-album single Date entered: 17/02/17 Chart sales: 1,040,600 Chart run: 2-2-6-2-2-3-2-2-3-4-4-5-9-14-26-34-37-42-47-71-87-82-x [22 weeks] Video: Music video deleted and the audio video is unlisted, boo at the label trying to forget this happened already  Commentary In February of last year we finally got the long-awaited 'Cloudbusting', a Kate Bush re-working by US production duo Just Us originally put out as a bootleg entitled 'Everytime It Rains' which got a bit of Radio 1 airplay. Surprisingly though it did not manage to enter straight in at #1, as it went head-to-head with another big song which was released that week - namely 'Saving Light', more on that later. Though I was initially disappointed that it wasn't the same version as the bootleg, I quickly got used to the addition of the original Kate Bush verses (though of course, they couldn't license her actual vocals and had to use a soundalike). It was a huge banger and surely big hit in the waiting? Oh yeah, it didn't chart at all, other than scraping the ever-irrelevant sales chart top 40. But this is a great version, bringing the song right up to date without making it sound generic. It appears that Just Us will be a total one hit wonder though as follow-up single 'Flirtatious' was quite awful and they've not done anything else since. Though it's really Swae Lee who steals the song here with him getting over half of it. His echoey vocals are great though and I really enjoy the vibe of the song. Quickly jumping into the top 10 it only managed four weeks there before the Christmas takeout and never fully recovered but it had amazing top 40 longevity. The xylophone sounding synth used in the buildup and drop is particularly excellent, and Ms Dragonette's vocal once again works well on a dance track (although they've only ever charted three times, all their chart entries have appeared in my year-end lists). It's a shame this never got half as much attention as their previous but that doesn't stop it from doing well in this countdown. A real return to form for both artists production wise, and I'd say it's my absolute favourite of Gorgon City's. More of these plz. bitch I don't need introduction  Genre: House Label: Universal Music/Polydor Album: non-album single Date entered: 23/06/17 Chart sales: 1,165,300 Chart run: 1-1-2-2-2-2-2-2-8-8-9-9-11-16-22-26-28-29-24-37-40-55-64-… [23 weeks (so far)] Video: Commentary From Duke Dumont to Jax Jones, and who'd have thought that Jax Jones would go on to be even bigger than Duke when 'I Got U' came out? 'Instruction' was of course the follow-up to the huge hit 'You Don't Know Me', still to come in this countdown, and the song instantly went to #1 just from the excitement of having another Jax single before being knocked off two weeks later by Calvin Harris. Which also means we have the odd statistic of Demi Lovato being one of the few people to have a single enter at #1, despite her being one of my least favourite singers. It's fair to say she doesn't ruin this song at all though (as I feared) with her sassy vocals fitting the song's vibe, and the lack of screeching that made 'Sorry Not Sorry' my least favourite hit single of the year. The Stefflon verse is great too and the unique production from Jax really makes this song so infectious. To date it is his only #1 as follow-up 'Breathe' has so far only managed to peak at #4, though at its current rate it looks likely to make the 2018 EOY so this should be another great year for him. Being a collab with Selena Gomez it could have easily been a sub-par release but Kygo stayed true to his sound and the song really stood out. Tropical house may be starting to get stale as a genre but Kygo who popularised it of course knows how to do it well (although subsequent releases haven't been quite as good). With an immensely catchy hook, great use of chopped up vocals and brilliant production, this unsurprisingly was a massive hit worldwide and in my chart. It also gives Selena at long last an entry in my EOY Hot 100, having been absent for the last 7 years of her career.
