In a deleted interview by Kiss, the girls confirmed the next single is 'Sweet Melody'. It is hinted the video will be choreo-heavy. I assume we can expect this in 2 or 3 weeks.

My only worry is the "thing" we haven't had for a while, because choreo was given in Bounce Back (Albeit just a dance break) I'm worried it may be acting because we haven't had that since.. Hair? I do hope it's choreo though.

I'm almost certain it's choreo, i wouldn't worry about that. Now let's just hope it's executed well. The Touch video with different colouring/ a slightly sleeker look would have been perfect. SO hopefully they give us an elevated version of that.

In terms of the song, it's safe to say 'Holiday' ended up being a nice little cute hit for them, and will go silver in a couple of weeks and it looks like 'Bounce Back's abysmal chart run was just a blip. However, I do think this one needs to do at least a little better. Something more in line with 'Break Up Song', would be nice, but ideally even better - given it'll get some proper promo and will be tied with the album.

I'm leaning towards more choreo, given covid it'll be difficult to get an acting scene going that's not awkwardly socially distanced lol whereas with dancing they can just mess about in a warehouse or a studio and serve their looks / dance. something like Move but looking a bit fresh.

Yeah they've been doing interviews together so hopefully they dont have to social distance for a choreo driven video by now. Wouldn't make a lot of sense, they just need to get tested. We don't need sloppy video editing to get them together again.

I really hope this comes out very soon, I feel like they need it out there for a couple of weeks before the album to gain a bit of momentum.

Have to say, they are handling the album release amazingly, exclusives, signed copies and actually promoting them so hopefully they do the same with the single.

I really think they should release 'Sweet Melody' Next Friday, 4 weeks before the album release. Their songs take 4 or 5 weeks to peak (first week aside sometimes) a lot, so the album release would be perfect to get them a big hit. The music video being filmed a few days ago would mean they'd be able to get it out within the first week of the song's release, too.

I agree, with them now being more in the public eye than say.. when Holiday was out it would be best to get the song out as soon as possible to keep momentum. They need a slightly more memorable hit than Holiday to lead into the album.

I'm SO nervous about this if this is released like we predict (next week).

If the rumours are true about Ari releasing the single next week and the album the week after (also the bi-weekly rumour of Drake releasing his album) this single is gonna majorly under perform and I'm gonna be GUTTED for them.

Their streaming is gonna be impacted so bad. Next week it'd be divided (less priority) with Ari, so a decent start but it's not gonna be great. The week after, would be Ari's album and her album tracks further hibdering it's Spotify performance.

Gahhhhh. The album release week the week after should be fine, but Nov is being rumoured for Adele so...

They can't catch a break lmao :/

They should definitely release it next week. It should still hopefully get a good debut against only one Ariana song. It will then fall in week 2 when her album releases but the singles seem to always decline a bit in the second week. And then on album release week it should see a big climb hopefully to a new peak.

This was the problem with Get Weird and Glory Days - amazing singles but basically terrible albums. LM5 was a great body of work and cohesive but it didn't have the highs that those albums had.

Glory Days was pretty great other than 2-3 duds. Especially the Platinum Edition. If it's on par with that I wouldn't be upset at all. Hopefully better than Get Weird though, i'll admit that isn't a particularly good album

I'm confident Holiday will be my least fave and even that is pretty good so im not too worried.

Ariana confirming release of new single 23rd also, how much of an affect will this have on SM? Obviously this isn’t what we hoped for and the girls will now go below Ariana in every major playlist, but every review ive read of this is brilliant and hoping that quality of the song helps them against Ariana and having a music video and performance straight off the bat will help (that’s my view on it anyways 😂)

Do we know if anyone else is releasing on 23rd?

I'm nervous if this IS the release date for SM. But the week after is gonna hit harder as Ariana's entire album will likely go above it, knocking it out the top 50/much needed 2nd week exposure. It wouldn't matter officially as Ari can only have 3 songs charting, but the exposure for streaming will be impacted.

Gahh. Not calling it a flop (I doubt I will until a few weeks down the line) but I AM nervous.

I just want it to go top 10 and have some longevity in the charts. I’m also curious to see how this does on AM as i remember BUS doing quite well there but Holiday struggled to get quite as high.

I think you’re overestimating Ariana’s album longevity. I don’t think her entire album will swarm the top 50. Especially with no proper build up, and even at the moment nothing has been 100% confirmed to the GP.

Also, with the single, yes it’ll obvi go higher than SM however I don’t necessarily think it’ll take away from SM. I think what’s important is the playlisting. They’ll see Ariana and hopefully see Little Mix just below them, as I don’t think anyone else big is releasing. Little Mix also managed to get #4 on NMF for two promo singles so hopefully that’s a good indication. A #1 position to #2 once Positions comes out will be amazing.

Let’s not forget that just obsessively replaying a song doesn’t contribute towards streams, don’t they have to loop it with other songs? so hopefully the fanbases can help each other out lol

I'm hoping SM is big enough off the bat to not get knocked out of the top 50 easily (10-30 on Spotify). Seems the label have been preparing for this release for a while so playlist support should be strong. Instant top 15 on Hot Hits I beg, then the cover and higher position on album release week

Let’s be honest, a top 10 is what they should be aiming for. Their days of massive number 1/top 3 hits are behind them imo. I’m not understanding how 1 artist releasing the same day is going to make this release a disaster? If it’s good, it’ll sell. If it’s sub par like Holiday was, it will struggle.

I’m honestly not too bothered about Ari releasing on the same day, if they are behind her on NMF it could work in their favour tbh... and it’s not like they are battling it out for the #1 spot officially so there’s no competition. Yes, she will debut higher but i agree with the people who said if SM is a good song, it shouldn’t be hindered by someone releasing on the same day. I’m expecting good playlist support as the promo singles both went top 5 on NMF. Top 2 behind Ari would be perfect! Holiday is around 22 on HHUK i think so it would be good if this could just replace that.

Yeah, I don't think it matters too much either. As long as they start getting radio and Spotify support right away, and the song is good, it'll climb up over the weeks anyway, especially on album release week.

Yeah I think all of their "big" announcements usually come from 5pm onwards, as that is when social media sees the most traffic. I'm wondering if Happiness being announced on Thursday morning first thing was a mistake because their social team forgot lol as it was a very weird time to announce a song, even if just a promo.

I think to be honest Happiness and Pop Song had deliberately shorter lead-ins was because there was a single coming soon after and they wanted to make sure there was a longer and bigger announcement/lead in and that it stood out as a single rather than a promo grat.

I can see this potentially debuting higher than Holiday tbh. They normally get good video boosts so the fact that the video is ready for release day will definitely work in their favour. I imagine they will get good playlisting too after the promo singles. I’m gonna say a low top 10 (or 11/12) debut if everything goes well in terms of video release and streaming etc. (obviously very early to make that prediction but just based off what we know so far)

I really hope they have given this a bit of a bigger budget to go all out for the albums release.

I mean compared to other artists they are smashing it, Meerkat event, The Search, Tour selling well and I'd go as far as saying they will likely make more on physical album sales than they have done previously because of the bundles and formats in the first week.

This Era is so exciting, I genuinely thought after LM5 and Bounce Back things could slide again but it's looking great.

Their only straight to A has been Woman Like Me, and only straight to B was Shout Out. Everything else entered on the C list. But BUS, for example, wasn't added straight there, it took a week or two.

I'm not sure if the video is going to come out this week with the song, as I recall the way we found out about Sweet Melody was from the KissFM interview, which I assumed was meant to be posted at some point, just not at that point and they mentioned what they were doing in the video. (In a teaser sort of way, dropping hints etc, something that would be posted in advance to build hype)

So unless that interview is posted today / tomorrow I highly doubt the video will come at the same time. Although it does look ready to go, so hopefully it'll be a week's wait? I wouldn't mind waiting a week, seeing how the song grows organically and then releasing the video to give the album a boost (so it could even be a two week wait)

OR

They changed the release schedule and that part of the interview will not air at all, as it is no longer relevant. But I'm not getting my hopes up for the video release this week.

I feel like the do do do do are catchy but can’t help but think it’s such a boring start to the song! The production is great though albeit not perfect at times!

I was a bit worried they'd missed an opportunity by not releasing Happiness as the third single, but this is great, and agree the video will elevate it even more.
Much stronger than Holiday and I think this is the type of Little Mix single the public will love, it sounds very them. That chorus will be stuck in my head for the rest of the day now

After my first listen - I agree it takes a while to get started but this is a GREAT sound for them!

Literally. The only thing that hits harder than the chorus (especially the second half) is a sledgehammer. I don't know what people must have been expecting 😭

I even think the verses slap quite a bit. Probs my fave verses of the era. The song is a full 10/10 to me.

I love the verses in the song, they flow so nicely and IMO the only "downside" to this is I can already see the comparisons to Touch because it's structured the same way, and I feel like this should've had a "Touch"-esque breakdown instead of Leigh singing a slowed down version of the chorus for the bridge.

Perrie's verse when she sings "he would lie, he would cheat over syncopated beats" is my absolute FAV line in a Little Mix song. I have no idea why I just love it, Perrie's delivery >>>> (Probably because the meaning of this song fits her relationship w/Zayn so well lol)

Releasing a single edit, remix and album version IS NOT THE WAY FORWARD.

They should of just stuck with the album version to help sales of the album directly.

#19 on NMF OUCH, I really hope that's not an indication where it's heading in the UK.

It depends, If people download different versions could prevent maximum exposure.

Say for instance if both versions went top 10 and were #1 combined would have a less impact than one version at 1.

It does confuse casual fans, If they release a single edit and album version on streaming platforms could it affect album streaming points? (especially after the performance on the EMA's)

Just seems odd to me but I guess we'll see, I never said it would damage them anyway just don't think it's the way forward on a hyped up release but happy to be proven wrong.

The chances of two versions going top 10 is very slim though and even so all sales of the different versions whatever way you look at it would go to ‘Sweet Melody’ as just one song chart wise .

the ps1 remix is a stormer! the song itself has some great elements - the hook is great and the chorus is good. lyrics are clunky asf upon second listen, i preferred the song before i paid attention to the lyrics.

i’m not too keen on the production for the album version but it fits in the context of the album + i think it will do as well as the other two singles.

I am enjoying it but it does sound a bit clunky! I’m not really a fan of the verses and it takes a bit long to get into the chorus which is obviously the highlight! I get what they were trying to do with the verse and ‘du-du’ hook but they sound a bit too forced ‘cool’ and the verses are only there to bulk out the song between the choruses if that makes sense? They’re not a highlight and don’t build to the chorus well like Touch did!

It's sad that Apple haven't given this anywhere near the support they usually do with singles..

BUS and Holiday were both 3/4 ish on A List Pop and on the front page on 'Hot Songs'

SM is literally not even top 10 on any other playlist other than NMD, I wonder if they push it higher over the weekend if it takes off a bit?!

The advantage that this song has that neither BUS or Holiday had is that it's not released on the same day as a big popstar releasing their hugely hyped albums!

BUS went up against Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia (who moved her release date forward, digitally )
Holiday went up against a surprise Taylor Swift release

So I am really hoping that this can have a stronger day-to-day hold than those did.

The fact that it’s #48 on AM is quite good IMO. I think it’ll grow massively over the next few days and during release week I think it’ll have a huge push. Considering they’ve bombarded us with songs over the last 3 weeks I think it’s natural that SM wouldn’t instantly take off. The insane reception and music video acclaim and the fact it’s gonna debut with roughly 3.5-5m views is an inclination it’ll have good longevity and a decent run.

The normal single will start falling v soon too, before stabilising and potentially reclimbing again Sunday eve/Monday (hopefully earlier if this is what they're performing on The Search) I can't see this song being performed personally, as Jade is doing everything virtually due to having to self-isolate, so they'll probably wait until she comes back. So I think it'll be an acoustic performance or something (unless they have pre recorded something).

There seems to be so much goodwill towards this track and video. Something I've not seen at this level since 'Glory Days' era. I just hope it can become their next full on smash (as in multi-week top 10)

I think it could definitely debut top 10 if it doesn’t drop much throughout the week which i cant see happening tbh. BUS didn’t have a video or remix to help on the first week and it still managed a top 10 debut so i’m pretty confident this will too although i’m not getting my hopes up lol

Honestly I'm just so happy that they've released something with so much passion and energy behind it. Their run of singles from Only You, Woman Like Me, Think About Us, Bounce Back and One I've Been Missing were extremely underwhelming and I wasn't too impressed with the LM5 album and thought they lost most of their fun factor.

Break Up Song was severely hampered by lockdown and being unable to shoot a decent video for it and Holiday was a pretty weak song/video as well, but just watching them move in the Sweet Melody video and hearing them sing these lyrics is like they're truly fighting and putting 100% in and there's a real sense of urgency and fire behind it. It's almost like they've been aware of the dwindling popularity and complaints from fans and they've decided to throw everything into this to shut us up and prove that they've still got it.

I genuinely thought they were on their way out or they had lost their spark (seriously, what a dreadful 2019 they had) but this is like back to the Glory Days era with how exciting it feels to be a fan.

It's also amazing how much this has stabilised on AM in non UK locations. Confetti is also in the top 10 of so many countries.

Not that I care about their US success anymore but I've noticed Confetti and Sweet Melody slowly edging up on AM.

Great performance it's just devastating that they opened the show because it hasn't done anything.

Anyway they had a slight decrease on Kworb but Ariana is decreasing much quicker than them so it will be interesting to see if they can get the number 2 spot.

They're now at 5.1 million on YouTube already. Gained at least 100K views since the performance.

Most people tune it later due to either catching and watching the show halfway through or waiting to watch the next thing on in this case Strictly is on after this and quite a lot of viewers watch that so a performance later on might of had more of an impact from casual viewers tuning in .

I loved the effects and the dancing was on point, there is no girlband who could compete with them when it comes to dancing and performing (and this is coming from someone whose favourite artists are Spice Girls and Girls Aloud).
