1. name a dance music producer or group who has had at least five UK top 40 hits

well here is a nice easy one to begin with with a load of pointless answers and no one gets more than one point! cheer.gif

a few big names such as Avicii and David Guetta were left off entirely, though Calvin Harris did get one answer, with his tally of 34 hits he is the biggest on this list.

other big hitmakers who were pointless include Moby, Jax Jones, Sash!, Scooter, Armand van Helden and Fatboy Slim who all had over 10 hits.

there are also a few here who you may have forgot or don't even recall having this many hits, including the unfortunately named Corona, and a handful of others from the 90s such as Alice Deejay, Urban Cookie Collective and D Mob.

the oldest act on this list is disco band Chic, who I will count as a dance group even if their style is obviously a fair bit different to what we now consider "EDM".

Afrojack: 8 hits – peaked with ‘Give Me Everything’ (#1, 2011)

2. name a boyband member as a soloist who achieved a UK top 40 hit.

now onto a style of popular music I'm not so keen on - boybands! but thought this'd make for an interesting question. again it's another one with a wide range of answers so many of you remain pointless.

unfortunately my idea of going for an NSync member I thought everyone else had forgotten didn't prove to be great as JC Chasez had three answers, with no one trying Justin Timberlake.

Nathan Capital FM Sykes also proved somewhat popular as well as Stephen Gately formerly of Boyzone.

a fair few popular people prove to be pointless including Ricky Martin (who I had no idea was in a boyband), Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams and even a former Beatle in George Harrison (who I will count as a boyband due to their earlier output and Beatlemania, even if they have more claim to being a "proper" band than the rest of these).

we get our first wrong answers too, with one trying to use a loophole and go for Skepta. Last time I checked, Roll Deep were not a boyband. D-Mac also gets answered - I couldn't find anything on who this is so I'll count that as wrong too.

I nearly went for Peter Noone but wasn't sure whether Herman's Hermits would count as a boyband. If The Beatles count, I suppose HH should as well.

3. name a top 40 hit that Rihanna was the featured artist on.

Rihanna has featured on many a top 40 hit but it was her feature for Nicki Minaj which proved the most popular answer here, where she returned the favour for Nicki guesting on Loud's 'Raining Men'. it's not regarded as a highlight of her feature work which is perhaps what led many to go for it in the hope it had been largely forgotten.

also scoring many points was her first feature for Drake 'Take Care', which I too answered. if only I had gone for their follow-up 'Too Good', I'd have had a pointless answer. 'Can't Remember To Forget You' with Shakira also had many answers.

'All Of The Lights', I will allow as she is credited as a featured artist in some places (although she has no official credit going by OCC/polyhex), this had 2 answers.

pointless answers include the biggest hit of 2010 'Love the Way You Lie' and what was her most recent collab until very recently 'Lemon'. 'Believe It' I would have accepted as it made the chart during the voting period, but no one went for it. her other Eminem collab also got no answers, as well as a few others I have listed at the end of the post.

4. name an artist who is a "proper" one hit wonder of the 21st century (one #1 single, absolutely no other top 40 hits)

I'm not doing too well so far as I again go for the most popular option going with Tomcraft whose sole hit was 'Loneliness'. jointly first is the Sak Noel chart topper 'Loca People'. Dance one hit wonders are fairly popular here with a few others being chosen, though none score you more than a point unless you went for Tom or Sak.

5. name a top 10 hit credited to Avicii.

out of Avicii's top 10 hits it ended up being 'You Make Me' as the clear most popular answer here, with it getting you 8 points - comparatively a lot in this round. two of his biggest hits such as 'Levels' and 'Wake Me Up' were however pointless, though other megasmash 'Hey Brother' wasn't so lucky and got 4 points - it's always a gamble going for a big song. 'Waiting For Love' was the 2nd-most answered here unfortunately for me, and tying with 'Hey Brother' is the Leona non-collaboration 'Collide'.

'Lovers on the Sun' was a top 10 hit, going to #1, however as much as Avicii deserved a credit on the track, he didn't get one officially as a performer so it is wrong. As is 'Heaven', which peaked at #20.
