I actually love it? The production is fantastic, and it’s an homage in the best way.
You can just tell the album is going to be even better. |

"Down And Out Downtown", which is the second track off her album, was the song included in the teaser.

I still can't tell whether I absolutely love this or it's a bit of a ..eh moment. Like how I felt about “New York” from the last album but then “Los Ageless” and “Fast Slow Disco” ended up being career highlights for me so maybe there is still hope- and I haven't totally written off this single yet either.

Have they ever had Radio 1 play listing before after 7(seven) albums?

Predictably this has now grown on me massively, undeniably stuck in my head all day at work today.

I foolishly didn't give the singles much of a chance, but this is definitely AOTY material!
I became a fan through her more modern pop style music, so this was a bit of a stark reinvention to wrap my head around but once I made it past the initial "what is going on?" it massively clicked It also helps I guess that I'm not too familiar with the mid-70's era of music, so despite it being a clear homage it doesn't sound too familiar for me at all. I've had this on repeat all day. Feels like a real moment for Annie! So captivating. She has such a well-realised artistic vision and this is another testament to that.
The album reveals more layers with each listen. So many melodies that refuse to leave my mind, the crescendos, her voice - it all just works. Nearly every song has me screaming "!!" in my head Standouts for me are Down and Out Downtown, Live in the Dream and ...At the Holiday Party. I can take or leave the title track and Candy Darling but have a feeling they will still creep up on me |

Just popping in to firstly give our Kath someone else to talk to but secondly to say I'm also in love with this. It's very coherent and definitely rewards multiple plays, she's just amazing in the way she can completely master a sound and change from album to album
