I'd love to see them finally have a big hit in their own right. Fingers crossed for some good material.

The song is really good! happy.gif

Actually, no. It leaked and, as far as I know, it was in a Russian website.

According to your friends and ours at Hurts HQ, the single is not coming out tomorrow but apparently they’ll be in touch with more details in due course or something. But it’s all over the internet now so whatever.

Having said that, the OP has been updated with the artwork and its German release through Amazon on June 8, which is the only information out so far.

Posted by: ┌ ╫ ┘ 27th May 2015, 02:51 AM

they could easily have a huge #01 with this i feel...

Posted by: AntoineTTe 27th May 2015, 09:18 PM

Still sounding like a B-list late 80s band.

But the production sounds promising.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 27th May 2015, 10:08 PM

OMG THIS IS AMAZING!

And it better be huge. mad.gif

That's a massive chorus! Really like it on first listen and definitely agree about its hit potential.

Would be great to see Hurts return successfully as I randomly revisited their debut album a few weeks ago and found it much better than I'd remembered. A really well-executed, polished collection of songs - been playing 'Illuminated' in particular a lot ever since wub.gif. Still never checked out their follow-up but I'm excited to hear more from them based on this. ohmy.gif

Posted by: ♡ Heezus Froot ♡ 28th May 2015, 12:45 AM

I've played their sophomore a few times this year, too. Very underrated, even by me. Miracle / Sandman / Somebody to Die For & Heaven are all fantastic and so is their cover of Wonderwall.

@Noah, you should definitely at least check out the singles & Sandman.

Posted by: Noahspike 28th May 2015, 12:51 AM

^ Good to know, will do! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Juan Carlos 28th May 2015, 01:09 AM

I don't know how many times I'm going to change the OP, but the song is out on iTunes and Amazon! yahoo.gif

I guess because they want to have a shot at a future career.

Good track! The double repetition of "I found it in you" in the chorus seems slightly lazy, but it's a solid effort from the boys.

The reason other countries do so much better in Eurovision is because they aren't as snobby with it as us, credible artists never want to get involved. sad.gif Sweden sent in an artist with current hits in their country. I WISH we could have someone like Hurts, too. sad.gif

They, sadly, haven't exactly had a stellar career in the UK so far. They have done rather better elsewhere in Europe.

Indeed. Mans and Sanna, the two latest entrants, are pretty much Swedish singing ROYALTY nowadays. Not to mention huge acts constantly come back to the competition. Even here, in Russia, there's really no social stigma about participating in Eurovision. Polina is big here. There were also TATU, Serebro and Dima Bilan.

Brits are just stuck in that endless loop. No good artists to send -> bad position -> no good artists want to participate in Eurovision -> bad position -> etc. sad.gif

Posted by: Mybelle 28th May 2015, 08:15 PM

I reckon Hurts would do really well at Eurovision.

I love this new song and think it's very summery and catchy. My husband walked behind me whilst I was listening to it though and said 'sounds a bit like Take That though, doesn't it?' dry.gif

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 3rd June 2015, 01:43 PM

Just playing it non-stop in recent days. The song is as good as ever.

Please also do a shirtless video this time. kink.gif

The video looks great but so f***ing creepy I have no idea what it means

Posted by: Mybelle 22nd June 2015, 07:30 AM

I don't get it either, but I'm guessing that was the idea.

Do you reckon it will actually end up as a hit now that there's a video? Such a shame if it doesn't as the video looks pretty expensive and it's their most radio-friendly song I think.

Posted by: ♡ Heezus Froot ♡ 22nd June 2015, 07:35 AM

I think the video has something to do with clones and that guy is chasing Theo because he's ~original~ lol.

No way they have zero chances of another hit, I'm afraid. sad.gif

No, they didn't do Eurovision because the beeb decided to go with Humperdinck instead.
http://www.nme.com/news/hurts/63850

They even showed interest in taking part earlier than that and http://www.eurovisionary.com/eurovision-news/hurts-submit-song-russia instead.

As for SKOH, I loved in on first listen but on second it didn't sound as fresh and it just doesn't sound anything special anymore. I want more tracks like Better Than Love ok thanks bai

In fact, just after watching this video, my whole opinion for the song has dramatically changed for the better.

This needs to rule the chart. It's something I've never seen Theo doing before, considering a couple of years ago he said that he can't dance. laugh.gif

A truly mental video and myself, daughter and husband all watched it grinning like idiots at Theo really getting into it. He'd make a great Strictly contestant and him being in it would make me watch lol

I actually think it would do well if they released it, but then I noticed today on Facebook they've said it's song called Slow out on 11 September.

I think that in this day and age when you find it hard to focus on the singles, album sales is what really counts.

For any Hurts UK fans. Sky TV are in the process of trying to find fans to be in the audience for a show. They contacted me through Twitter and are struggling to find UK fans. If any of you are interested then let me know and I can pass your details onto them. The planned TV shoot is Weds 23 September.

They're approaching fans on Twitter and I happened to be one of the UK based fans. When I said I'd be interested, the assistant producer rang me to discuss it. I said I'd seen on Twitter the other groups fans they are trying to contact for other shows in the series - Rudimental, Take That, Little Mix amongst others. I said that compared to the others Hurts seem an odd one in the mix (not that I'm complaining). He said some of it is down to the artists who are free - but then said that didn't mean Hurts were definitely playing. He was playing his cards close to his chest lol

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 17th October 2015, 02:19 PM

Cool !!

By the way, has anyone got any midweek positions?

Posted by: Mybelle 17th October 2015, 04:47 PM

The album entered the charts at number 12 yesterday. I don't think the midweeks is until Monday or Tuesday now.

Posted by: Aled. 17th October 2015, 08:36 PM

Really quite happy with this. It's not as good as Happiness, but it's so much better than Exile (which was probably one of the most disappointing albums I've ever listened to). It's just nice to see they're still capable really. Of the non-singles I really like Wings and Policewoman, and much as it's a blatant sell-out of a track that they shouldn't have gone anywhere near, I can't help but repeatedly go back to Nothing Will Be Bigger Than Us.

Posted by: Kuki Sanban 17th October 2015, 09:18 PM

Posted by: Mybelle 21st October 2015, 08:01 PM

Maybe the TFI Friday performance may help the album sales (fingers crossed).

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 25th October 2015, 03:22 AM

I doubt it, and they had a pretty horrid campaign so far. I'd rather release Some kind of Heaven in at the beginning of September, they just left the album release for too long.

Posted by: Mybelle 25th October 2015, 09:21 AM

You're right Red Blooded Man. It put Lights on ITunes, but not very high. I don't mind Lights, but I'm not keen on it sung live as it sounds like Theo struggles with the high notes. I think they should have gone with Nothing will be bigger than Us rather than Lights.

There was talk on Popjustice forum that they reckon Hurts will be dropped by Sony. I really hope they're wrong, but then maybe a different record company would do a better job of promoting them, especially over here in the UK.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 25th October 2015, 12:47 PM

I am not sure who will sign Hurts if they are dropped... I have to say their fanbase is kinda split between Indie and Pop and there seems to be nothing that can bridge that divide.

Posted by: Mybelle 26th October 2015, 08:18 PM

I must be in the minority. I actually like both their Indie and pop stuff. It's actually Theo's voice that I like. He could sing me the Phone Book and I'd be happy. laugh.gif

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 30th October 2015, 02:11 PM

Me too ! But I reckon no record company have the faintest idea to market them properly at the moment.

Posted by: Mybelle 30th October 2015, 06:51 PM

I don't think they've had a clue from start to finish with them. Exile was poorly promoted and I feel that Surrender has been just as bad. They released Some kind of heaven without any promotion here in the UK at all. It had the potential of being huge, but instead it bombed here. I'm really hoping they'll release Nothing will be bigger than us and it gets decent promotion, but I'm not holding my breath.

Posted by: HauntedHaus 30th October 2015, 06:57 PM

Finally got round to listening to this, and i think it's a brilliant album! I don't know why some people always look down on "going pop". Pop music is a hard genre to pull off but they've really made it work with this, with some delightful, joyous and sprightly songs. His voice really suits them too! It's a change of direction for them and they've pulled it off, so well done i say!

I understand it may alienate some fans that wanted more of the same from them but being a non-diehard fan i can enjoy and appreciate this as a separate piece of work to their other albums and get a lot from it. Really solid album <3

'Nothing Will Be Bigger Than Us' is splendid heart.gif

Posted by: slowdown73 30th October 2015, 09:56 PM

The album is great but all the wrong singles have been released with exception of some kind of heaven. What about nothing will be bigger than us?

I'm not sure if they've made a video for Wings and that's going to be the single or it's another one like Wish - a video, but not an official single. I was really hoping for Nothing will be bigger than us.

I don't think it's necessarily about Hurts themselves. More that it's an industry where everything is a facade and things aren't what they seem. It's not an industry if you're a fragile person. It sort of got me thinking of the scenario where Jason left Take That. He was a sensitive, deep thinking person and said he felt lonely even when surrounded by people.
