Looks like the film based on 'The Band' is coming along now! The first cast are in negotiations to star, including Ruth Wilson, Cush Jumbo & Rosamund Pike.

QUOTE
Inspired by the songs of Take That, one of the world’s biggest pop acts, the feel-good film has been developed with the support of Universal Music Group so will include a number of Take That songs. The story focuses on five schoolgirls who have the night of their lives at a concert from their favorite boy band. 25 years later their lives have changed in a myriad of ways as they reunite to reminisce about their past and discover their future.

Hit songs which will be featured in the film include “Patience,” “Back For Good,” “A Million Love Songs,” “Relight My Fire,” and “Could It Be Magic.” The group, which has sold more than 45 million records worldwide with 12 number 1 UK hits, is also in talks to pen an original song for the feel-good movie.

Can't wait for this!

This sounds really promising.

A mid to late 2021 release is the likely release date.

I'd say that's about right, hopefully the new single gets a lot of promo!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Jul 3 2020, 01:38 PM

Ya I hope they release something new around the same time and all going well the film will be a success and their greatest hits albums will benefit.

According to the article, they're in talks to release a new single for the film itself! Perhaps I'm being too optimistic, but I think the film will be huge here if it's made well tongue.gif

Posted by: pippa Jul 4 2020, 12:29 AM

It has huge potential to be a roaring success.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Jul 4 2020, 10:34 AM

I'd love a soundtrack like bohemian rhapsody type release on the back of the movie which would be great if backed by a new single. I hope their next single is a take that ballad or something like the flood and not on the line of the wonderland material.

Gary Barlow was on GMB yesterday and confirmed a 2021 release date!

There's also a few more details out:

Coky Giedroyc is directing, she's known for 'How to Build a Girl' which released last year
It will be set in a "northern town"
Gary, Mark and Howard are executive producers

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Jul 9 2020, 01:12 PM

Good to see some further confirmation, did Gary talk anything about his upcoming solo album?

Yep! He said it's "coming near Christmas, November-ish" and features a 60-piece orchestra.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Jul 9 2020, 02:34 PM

Im really looking forward to the new solo album and i think the orchestra sound could potentially be great,.

I haven't had the chance to watch yet, but it seems like there's an update here!

They were talking about this on Heart the other day, it sounds like a cool concept. I'll definitely check it out once it's out

It would have had a minor release at the most but I remember watching something about the Take That movie in the old music magazine TV show The O Zone, you can actually see clips of it in the Sure music video. Anyone know anything more about this. Google returns nothing about it.

There was Nobody Else: The Movie which was that tour and a few bits shot back at their hotel afterwards. I want to know what is going on with 'Greatest Days'. Is that real?

I went to Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland, Lancashire, last year and it was beautiful. The film is also being shot in London and Greece I read, but can't find that article at the moment. I hope the original song they do for this is great.

Will the original song be TT3 or plus Robbie?

So the film is going to have 16 Take That songs and some new material apparently. Do we think that is the music they are working on or an album?

Posted by: Sydney11 Apr 20 2023, 09:40 AM

Never forget we will have fun like this again… someday soon

So the first critic reviews are in:

Digital Spy: 4/5.
HeyUGuys: 4/5.
Screen Daily: Positive.
Total Film: 4/5.
Empire: 2/5.

There are 15 songs featured in the film of which 11 have been listed:

A Million Love Songs, Babe, Back For Good, Could It Be Magic, Everything Changes, Greatest Day, Never Forget, Patience, Pray, Rule The World and Shine.

Will be interesting to see which other four songs are in. The Flood I assume would be one of them, though maybe doesn't fit.

Take That documentary ‘30 Years in the Making’ to debut exclusively on ITVX on 14 June

30 Years in the Making, an exclusive documentary that delves into the three-decade long relationship between Take That and their fans, launches exclusively on ITVX this Wednesday.

Created as a companion piece to the new feature film ‘Greatest Days’ which will premiere on June 16th, the 72 minute documentary is a joyous celebration of both the band and their followers.

While exploring the challenges of bringing ‘Greatest Days’ to the big screen, the documentary also shines a line on the mutual dedication built over three decades between the band and its fans. The documentary features a massive ensemble cast including band members Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen alongside real life Take That enthusiasts including Alesha Dixon, Mel and Sue, and Calum Scott.

The film juxtaposes the story of the production, involving pandemic lockdowns, challenging shooting locations and critical casting decisions, with the story of how Take That fans have followed the band throughout the years. From Take That’s 90s boy band fame to its shocking breakup, its triumphant comeback in the 00s and beyond, the band’s highs and lows are also reflected in evolving friendships as the film captures the joy of being a lifelong music fan.

The documentary is one of the first pieces of programming from RWD Films, Redwood BBDO’s newly launched specialist branded programming arm creating long-form content for broadcast and streaming.

What do we reckon success or not?

#7 in its second week and a current UK total of £1,132,647.

We have a chance to watch the movie at Russian cinemas so it's a part of success already smile.gif

So I did it yesterday and must to say it's not bad at all.
But it's 6/10 by my opinion.

Some moments are too naive and strange, while in overall this movie Is for wimmin and fans only. Maybe they could use more connection to TT. While it's called the official TT musical you really want want to see more symbols, etc. The boys who plays TT boys are funny and that's it. Not a good casting of them.

But in other aspects it's a kind and some dramatic movie. I think they use the songs in a right way, even A Million Love Songs. You will understand when watch this. Also I like The Flood Moment - the funniest one )) And happy for Said It All using.
A little bit sad they didn't included Everything's Changes but I understand why smile.gif

Well, it's not the best musical but a rather good British style movie. Just... I'd not it watch again.
