Let Me Love You for #1 wub.gif

Posted by: liamk97 4th August 2016, 11:04 PM

I really like the DJ Snake/Justin Bieber song. It has that slight melancholy sound that I like in dance songs, although I must admit the chorus instrumental is VERY 'Lean On'.

EDIT: Oh and I'd have liked more of an outro.

Posted by: cqmerqn 4th August 2016, 11:09 PM

Tove Lo to slay please smile.gif

Let Me Love You is exactly what I expected it to be. A carbon copy of Lean On and Turn Down For What smile.gif

ManicKangaroo isn't including it because for now it's only out on the album, but I've edited it in here for now as it's probably relevant for this week heehee.gif

So Justin Bieber is going to be #1 consecutively just like towards the end of 2015? the boringness of the chart continues............

Drake has been reduced.. I wouldn't be surprised if it went number one again

I would be very shocked considering Major Lazer's chart sales are around double Drake's right now! tongue.gif (besides, my iTunes still says 99p?)

Lean Back is a tune!

Fat Joe and Remy Ma have already had a successful song this year in 'All The Way Up' that has been one of the biggest rap songs out of America this year. Hoping this is just as good.

So pleased 'Heathens' has gone Top 10 - Think this will get a surge now that the album and film are out.

Also just realised Calum Scott has a 3rd version of DOMO nearing the Top 50 - He's currently at #3, #19 & #55, Seriously huge for a song that looked like it would struggle to make the Top 35 at one point!

Posted by: timjimlee 5th August 2016, 01:20 AM

"Rise" will surely get an Olympic boost (especially with the price reduction ). Not sure it can push it back in the Top 40 overall though although there is a rumoured appearance at the Opening Ceremony.

Wonder whether Sia's "Unstoppable" will get a push over the next couple of weeks, it is being used in a Gillette Olympics advertising campaign with a new verse from Pusha T.

Also would be great to see a reappearance of Underworld with "Caliban's Dream" as the BBC will use extensively.

Offaiah at number 26 - this is going to blow up like 99 Souls did at the end of last year.

We are having a good year for disco house (which has been mostly dead as a chart force with a few exceptions since the end of 2006) in the charts (99 Souls, Clean Bandit/ Louisa Johnson, Sigala/ John Newman and now this). Perhaps a trend is starting. Maybe this will take over as the next dance trend after tropical house dies out.

Great, its weird Radio 1 are playing it, it isn't very modern sounding, but more like something that would be produced in early 2006, the Love Don't Let You Go-esque first drop, the Beatfreakz/Infernal sounding eurodancey second drop and the fact it is looped disco house (with the female disco backing vocals) of the type that was popular in the mid 2000s. But I don't like most modern sounding dance music anyway, so that's a good thing for me.

Female rap in the track definitely reminds me of the iconic track that was Bom Bom. It wont do as well as Bom Bom though sad.gif

'Destination Calabria'-esque sounds in the production too. Funky house does seem to be back smile.gif esp with the Offaiah song too.

That EXO song is a bit of a mess. I know some of my tracks I uploaded to Buzzjack Official Song 2016 were a poorly produced mess but not as much as this. laugh.gif

And speaking of bad production, they need to turn up the vocals a little on that ConfidentialMX track laugh.gif

So if DJ Snake makes it to #1 either this week or in the coming few weeks, Justin will achieve his fifth #1 in the space of a year. Does anyone know what the record is for most #1s within a year? Five would certainly be very impressive for Justin! As well as holding the top 2 spots in the singles chart twice within a year, on separate occasions with different songs!

Of course Westlife managed it as "lead artists" too. This is not to discredit Bieber's achievement at all but a subtle reference back to the female UK #1s record a few years ago wink.gif

Very pleased to see Sunshine climbing even more this past day.

I would have rather it been a hit a month ago when there was actually more sunshine rather than now when Summer is almost over!

Like most deep house its a bit flat and dull for my tastes, could have done with more instrumentation, not a big fan of raw minimal piano house like this and Piece Of Me.

Just noticed that 'Lost Boy' is at #143 - Really think this will be huge and stick around for ages if radio get behind it, it's the kind of song that Heart thrive on.

There's very little to get excited about in the iTunes charts these days. I must admit myself I barely follow it anymore as it's becoming less & less indicative of what is really popular out there.

yeps it's a bit frustrating when songs can go top 10 on itunes but miss the top 40 come friday like Britney :/

Yep. What we need is a HUGE week where loads of people release - and there's not only a lot going on on iTunes but there's a load of threats to impact highly in the Official Chart too. Hopefully the OCC will impliment a change in the coming months if this current pattern continues to somewhat adjust the frequency of new entries and movement up.

Must be. No radio airplay and it's already almost top 10 on iTunes and Spotify. The best pop song of 2016. Come on radio 1. Now it's the time to add this masterpiece!

Really don't like that Chainsmokers/DJ Snake type of music its just been overused the ballad verses and the annoying drop for the chorus.

Any songs in this genre with good verses such as Don't Let Me Down (great vocals in this one too) are just ruined by the annoying sound effects in the chorus I think. Its like Diplo - Be Right There, nice verses and just ruined by the annoying drop in the chorus.

I think it will rebound soon, it's not even on radio yet.

Posted by: TheSnake 9th August 2016, 10:02 PM

This Chainsmokers/ DJ Snake domination in dance music on the itunes chart is like David Guetta and Calvin Harris at the start of the decade. Seems like these two acts are the new 'global dance acts' to follow on from David Guetta and Calvin Harris.

I preferred the fact a couple of years ago that the dance hits were mostly one hit wonders (Secondcity, Storm Queen etc.) rather than these big groups like The Chainsmokers dominating. Also like in the 90s and the 2000s these hits were only really popular in the UK wheras todays dance hits (Chainsmokers, Kungs, DJ Snake) are global.

In summary there are less UK only hits on the chart in dance and in other genres than any other year recently I think. There is less of a UK identity in the charts this year, most of it seems to be global pop and global dance. This is not a good thing I think.

Posted by: Ðøßßø 9th August 2016, 10:12 PM

Streaming was always going to bring together all the global markets, whilst I agree it means it's harder for UK acts to make a dent on the chart (as seen by the number who have had hits of the Sales Chart but not the Combined Chart) we don't miss out on the mega European dance smashes as frequently as before.

Songs like The Ocean would have done absolutely zilch here a few years back for example.

It's seems to be affecting Britney's tracks. I think they've included her album pre-orders on the iTunes chart and have now realised their mistake and taken them away.
