You all know how much I love a good rate - and also how obsessed I am with the 90s. I know not everyone was around in the 90s but they sure as hell know the classics. The rules are simple. Nominate up to 30 tracks of the alternative variety that were released between 1 Jan 1990 and 31 Dec 1999. Re-releases don't count unless they missed the chart the first time around and if the tracks are generally regarded as 90s tracks. CHANGES MADE BECAUSE OF THE VOLUME OF TRACKS NOMINATED Because I probably didn't think this through at the start and have now ended up with hundreds of nominations I think it's better if we vote for our favourite 50 from the nominations list instead of rating everything. When that's all done and dusted I'll count down the Top 40. The rules are going to be a bit more relaxed than usual regarding genre. We'll allow alternative dance also (The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Orbital all in) but the decision on singer-songwriter will be rather strict. Jeff Buckley in. David Gray out. No rap or r'n'b. No pop. In the event of a dispute I will consult with the moderators. So, please. Start your nominations as and when you see fit. The nominations part will end on Sun 31st July at 23:59. If you need your memory to be prodded a bit search for the the Shine or Best Album in the World Ever series on Amazon. Any questions - just shout. ______________________________________ NOMZ 808 State - Cubik Air - All I Need Air – Kelly Watch The Stars Air - Sexy Boy Aphex Twin - Analogue Bubblebath I Aphex Twin - Windowlicker Apollo 440 – Stop The Rock Arab Strap - The First Big Weekend Ash - Girl From Mars Ash - Kung Fu Beastie Boys – Sabotage Beck - Devils Haircut Beck - Loser Beck - Sexx Laws Belle and Sebastian - Le Pastie de la Bourgoisie Belly - Feed The Tree Bentley Rhythm Ace - Bentleys Gonna Sort You Out Beta Band - Dry the Rain Beth Orton - She Cries Your Name Beth Orton - Touch Me With Your Love Big Audio Dynamite II - The Globe Bjork - All is Full of Love (Plaid) Bjork - Bachelorette Björk - Human Behaviour Björk - Hyperballad Björk - Jóga Blondie - Maria Bluetones - Slight Return Blur - Beetlebum Blur - Caramel Blur - Charmless Man Blur - Coffee and TV Blur - For Tomorrow Blur - Song 2 Blur - Tender Blur - There's No Other Way Blur - This is a Low Boards of Canada - Royggbv Boo Radleys - Lazarus Boo Radleys - Wake Up Boo Bran Van 3000 - Drinking in LA Breeders - Cannonball Bush - Everything Zen Cardigans - My Favourite Game Carter USM - Sheriff Fatman Catatonia – Road Rage Catherine Wheel - Crank Chapterhouse - Pearl Charlatans - How High Charlatans - The Only One I Know Charlatans - Weirdo Chemical Brothers - Setting Sun Chemical Brothers - The Private Psychedelic Reel Chumbawumba - Tubthumping Cocteau Twins - Bluebeard Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas Cocteau Twins - Iceblink Luck Concrete Blonde - Joey Connells - '74-'75 Cornershop - Brimful Of Asha (Norman Cook Mix) Cranberries - Animal Instinct Cranberries - Dreams Cranberries - Zombie Cud - Rich & Strange Cure - Friday I'm In Love Curve - Horror Head Daisy Chainsaw – Love Your Money Death In Vegas feat Iggy Pop - Aisha Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence Depeche Mode - Home Depeche Mode - Its No Good Depeche Mode - Walking In MY Shoes Divine Comedy - Generation Sex Divine Comedy – National Express Dubstar - Not So Manic Now Eels – Last Stop: This Town Eels - Mr Es Beautiful Blues Eels - Novacaine For The Soul Elastica - Connection Elastica – Stutter Electrasy – Morning Afterglow Electronic - Get The Message Elliott Smith - Waltz #2 (XO) Embrace - Come Back to What You Know EMF - Unbelievable England New Order - World in Motion Faith No More – Midlife Crisis Farm - Groovy Train Fiona Apple - Shadowboxer Flowered Up - Weekender Foo Fighters - Everlong Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench Garbage - Milk Garbage - Only Happy When It Rains Garbage - Push It Garbage – Stupid Girl Garbage - Vow Garbage - You Look So Fine Gary Clail On-U Sound System - Human Nature Gay Dad – Joy! I realise that 30 songs each is going to a pretty hefty list to rate so if you can only come up with 10 (or whatever) songs that haven't been nominated that's fine.

Yes - they are allowed in.
Where do we stand on Tori? I feel she's at least non-mainstream. |

Definitely indie, and if I wasn't restricting myself to 1 per artist I would include the gorgeous “Stars”.
I also raise this all the time but “Not So Manic Now” is actually a cover of the original by Brick Supply (1994) from the Somebody's Intermezzo EP. |

Nomz list in the first post.
I've excluded Enigma and Faithless, Mattias. Soz bbz. Not alternative enough, I don't think. Jake - Muse Sunburn came out in March 2000. This post has been edited by Colm: 22nd July 2016, 02:42 PM |

The Beautiful South probably wouldn't be alternative enough.
