Yesterday marked 10 years since 'Celebration', the lead single from Madonna's third greatest hits album of the same name, was released as a digital download. Madonna approached English DJ Paul Oakenfold - who had remixed her songs before - and he sent her two songs that they would work on, with one eventually becoming 'Celebration'. It's a pumping house track that effectively looks back at Madonna's career, returning her to her dance roots and calling everyone to be united by music. Italian DJ Benny Benassi, known for his 2002 hit 'Satisfaction', remixed the song, which was used in the music video and sent to radio.
'Celebration' enjoyed chart success around the world, reaching #1 in the likes of Finland, Italy and Sweden and the Top 10 in most other countries, including the UK where it became Madonna's 60th Top 10 hit (and remains her last song to reach there). In the US, despite only peaking at #71, the song was a hit in the clubs, becoming Madonna's 40th #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart.

I still really love the song in its original and remixed form. It's just fun, pumping and never fails to get me grooving.

I used to like the remix but I've kinda gone off it now and the album version shits all over it. I wish that version got the single treatment although I appreciate the Benny Benassi remix was probably the driving force of it being a hit.
It's a shame it was to become her last Top 10 but, being a sort of homage to her career, it's a fitting end. I wonder if MDNA had a better lead that her run could have lasted a little longer?

Not one I ever hear but I heard this played on station today and sounds very fresh and current sounding with the trancey/dance backing to it!
I still hear this so often, but it's a bit of a staple in gay bars and clubs. It still sounds remarkably fresh and hasn't aged at all badly!
I remember it running in the runner up position until about Thursday and then Guetta overtook. Her last great single in my opinion though naturally the Paul Oakenfold remix is my only version.
