ELO at no.1 would be remarkable. Their 'best of' compilation was no.1 a few years ago after Glastonbury but their last studio album to reach no.1 was Time in 1981 which was the first album I ever bought! Will some potential buyers of the new album be put off by its short 32 minute length? Jeff is not quite providing value for money by only putting 10 three minute songs on it.

Ah, ELO's last album's opening sales were much higher than I thought they were - obviously will be a bit lower this time but they'd need a really huge dip to not get #1 this time on a relatively dead week. Kiwanuka could still be #2 though hopefully.

When I was the age most people on this site are, I would never have imagined that I would one day see somebody refer to ELO as "indie/alt".

Sales for Westlife could be the fastest of the year imo!

I really didn't expect such competition from Celine Dion, considering her position, #2. Of course we don't know what's the difference between Westlife and Celine... Anyone has any indication if Spectrum is selling?

Celines #2 sales I think could be bigger than most #1 sales this year! I think she’ll hold up consistently too. It’s a shame she wasn’t releasing a week or two earlier as she’d have easily got number one in my opinion.

I can see Westlife doing around 90K and Celine 35-40K.

Were Westlife ever a big album seller? I think they may be not that far ahead of Celine (she has another verison at 15)

Yep, massive album sellers. I remember when they beat Oasis and Beatles with over 200k in a week. They could reach 100k this week imo. Celine will be front loaded but should get top 3.

Beaten Spice Girls in 2000, and yes many more since then, U2, Oasis, beatles... Their albums faded the last couple of years before the split up.... I doubt it's going to shift 90.000 in one week - we haven't seen this number for a long time in the albums.. But yes i am more surprised by Celine Dion...

Celine's album is very good, and she knows her target audience

unlike Westlife... who've made in album for the wrong target audience... they had to make an album for their old fans, not for the Ed Sheeran generation
