January 20, 2006 - the day that the Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical, premiered, and after that, nothing was ever the same. The movie went on to win two Emmy awards, including Outstanding Children's Program, and the soundtrack ended up winning multiple awards. It also went on to become the second-best selling album of 2006 according to Billboard. It ushered in a new wave of Disney Channel movies that incorporated the musical subgenre into one of its factors - this included films such as Camp Rock, the second and third Cheetah Girls movies, and most recently, Teen Beach Movie. You can see various actors of the movie's ensemble cast elsewhere: Ashley Tisdale is currently producing the sitcom Young & Hungry, Lucas Grabeel appears in Switched At Birth, and you can see Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens in some upcoming projects this month - Zac appears in Dirty Grandpa (which is in theaters this Friday), and Vanessa will portray Rizzo in the live television adaptation of Grease!.

This movie has left a legacy and inspired millions to chase their dreams no matter what others will say about them. The trilogy spawned both a giant Buzzjack meme and a BJSC entry. I guess that movie really was the start of something new. So I guess it's appropriate that we...

This is part one of a special High School Musical 10 Year Anniversary jumbo rate: this part focuses on the songs that were featured in the trilogy. I decided to omit certain songs that appeared in the soundtrack but didn't appear in the movie, as this focuses on the movie itself. Which ones soaring, flying, and which ones were not so fabulous? Only you Wildcats have the power to decide? You know why? Because we're all in this together.
