I'm so looking forward to the Agatha Christie's 2 part adaptation, 9pm, The Witness For The Prosecution that trailer looked amazing, starring Toby Jones, Andrea Riseborough, Billy Howle, Kim Cattrall and David Haig, its going to be my highlight of the evening on Boxing Day.

Same! Outside of the soaps + TOTP, that's the only Christmas show which interests me this year |

My night has been all ITV tonight and I'm usually Team BBC! Watched Emmerdale, Paul O'Grady for the Love of Dogs and now Corrie. I'll turn over for Eastenders then probably watch Love Actually back on ITV. The BBC schedule, although objectively strong, just doesn't interest me.
Boxing Day looks better for BBC. I'll probably watch Revolting Rhymes on BBC, Emmerdale and Corrie on ITV, then Eastenders, back to Corrie for the second episode, then Witness for the Prosecution and Outnumbered. BBC 1 Boxing Day 14:40 Brave 16:05 The Gruffalo 16:30 How to Train Your Dragon 2 18:05 BBC News 18:30 Revolting Rhymes 19:00 The Great British Christmas Bake Off 20:00 Eastenders 20:30 Still Open All Hours 21:00 Witness for the Prosecution 22:00 Outnumbered ITV Boxing Day 14:40 Sleeping Beauty 16:10 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 18:45 ITV News 19:00 Emmerdale 19:30 Coronation Street 20:00 You've Been Framed 20:30 Coronation Street 21:00 Captain Phillips |

Tonight for me has been Doctor Who, Emmerdale on +1, Corrie, then EastEnders and Mrs Brown's Boys coming up so the BBC just have the edge. Very hyped for Outnumbered tomorrow!

What was Doctor Who like? I heard it was an improvement on the past series and recent Christmas specials, although I don't think it'll be enough to get me back into it.

It was alright, but nothing special, I just find the Christmas specials always lack something, I did get bored in the middle of it. |

definitely better than the last few christmas specials, though probably not great enough to convert the non-fans.

It was a pretty decent episode! Not one of the very best but it was good enough. I think next series is probably the time to try and start watching again though, it's supposedly going back to basics!

Thanks guys. I may give the next series a go, but I know I'll be very impatient and not stick with it if I'm not hooked back in by the first episode.

Overnights
01. The Queen - 7.7m (BBC One & ITV) 02. Strictly Come Dancing - 7.2m 03. The Great British Bake Off - 6.3m 04. Mrs Browns Boys - 6.1m 05. Call the Midwife - 6.1m 06. Eastenders - 5.9m 07. Coronation Street - 5.8m 08. Doctor Who - 5.7m 09. Frozen - 4.7m 10. Emmerdale - 4.2m Emmerdale & Corrie don't include +1. Got these from Lizo Mzimba. Actually surprised Strictly was the highest and Frozen only got 4.7m! Quite low figures on the whole though, nowhere near the heights that we had a few years ago and they just seem to be decreasing year on year now. Pleased that Doctor Who did comparatively well though and that it beat Emmerdale by 1.5m! I'm sure GBBO or Mrs Browns Boys will be the highest in the 7 day BARB ratings. |

Compared to last Christmas on BBC: Top of the Pops is down 910k; BBC's broadcast of The Queen's Speech is also down 910k; Frozen is down 850k from last year's film in its slot (Brave); Doctor Who is only slightly down (90k); Strictly is up 680k; Call the Midwife is up 260k; Eastenders is up 170k; and Mrs Brown's Boys is down 280k.
On ITV: Harry Potter is up 1.54m on last year's film in its slot (Happy Feet); ITV's broadcast of The Queen's Speech is up 1.61m; You've Been Framed is down 280k; Emmerdale is up 310k (despite being on an hour earlier than last year); Paul O'Grady for the Love of Dogs is up 60k (very different slot though: 6:45pm compared to 5pm); Coronation Street is up 270k; and, now the biggy, Maigret's 2 hour special is down a huge 3.69m on Downton Abbey's 2 hour special in its slot last year. These are the Eastenders Christmas Day overnights since 2000 that I can find: 2016: 05.90m (28.1%) 2015: 05.73m (23.8%) 2014: 07.55m (30.2%) 2013: 07.78m (29.0%) 2012: 09.37m (34.3%) 2011: 09.92m (33.4%) 2010: 11.40m (43.2%) 2009: 10.86m (45.9%) 2008: 09.89m (40.6%) / 11.47m (44.9%) * 2007: 11.60m (53.7%) / 13.90m (55.3%) 2006: 09.24m (44.3%) / 10.68m (44.0%) 2005: 10.12m (44.0%) 2004: 2003: 2002: 12.40m / 16.00m (62.2%) 2001: 10.50m / 14.50m 2000: 00.00m / 12.10m (46.8%) * There seems to be some issue with 2008's 11.47m figure, as the consolidated figure is only 11.34m. |

What's was Brave's competition last year? I feel like The Lion King affected Frozen's ratings heavily!

Cameraman to the Queen (1.05m) and Countrywise Winter Wonderland (1.17m). The Lion King will have affected Frozen but I don't think anyone anticipated it to be that much!
