We're half way through the year now but it's safe to say that there hasn't actually been many mega "hits" just yet..
What are your top ten songs released in 2016? 1. Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Seeb remix) 2. Zara Larsson - Lush Life 3. Flume & Tove Lo - Say It 4. OneRepublic - Wherever I Go 5. The Chainsmokers - Don't Let Me Down 6. Sia & Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills 7. Kygo & Kodaline - Raging 8. Fifth Harmony - Work From Home 9. Alan Walker - Faded 10. Clean Bandit & Louisa Johnson - Tears I really wish I could've added Nick Jonas' 'Close' and Ariana Grande's 'Dangerous Woman'.. but they're 11 & 12. This was my top 10 of the year as of a few weeks ago:
1. Frans - If I Were Sorry 2. Shawn Mendes - Stitches (technically 2015 but is significant enough to make my 2016 list too) 3. Joel Adams - Please Don't Go 4. Troye Sivan - YOUTH 5. Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $ign - Work from Home 6. All Saints - One Strike 7. Grace feat. G-Eazy - You Don't Own Me (same as Stitches) 8. Tom Odell - Magnetised 9. Benjamin - Body 10. Meghan Trainor - NO Some other highlights: Benjamin Ingrosso - Fall In Love Charlie Puth feat. Selena Gomez - We Don't Talk Anymore Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson - Tears (this would be in or approaching the top 10 now) Fifth Harmony feat. Fetty Wap - All In My Head (Flex) Little Mix feat. Jason Derulo - Secret Love Song Louisa Johnson - Forever Young Major Lazer feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG - Light It Up One Direction - History The Tide - Young Love The Vamps feat. OMI - I Found a Girl Among others! 2016 has been pretty solid so far, off to a better start than 2015 was I think A few non-chart hits there but many hits too, and a few that will hopefully be big soon! In terms of albums, it's a clear battle between the following so far for me: All Saints - Red Flag Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman Benjamin - Fingerprints Charlie Puth - Nine Track Mind Fifth Harmony - 7/27 Tom Odell - Wrong Crowd |

not necessarily songs released in 2016, but songs that impacted for me this year - this is based on how I feel the current YTD standings would be for me:
01 Zara Larsson - Lush Life 02 Alan Walker [feat. Iselin Solheim] - Faded 03 Rihanna [feat. Drake] - Work 04 Maceo Plex [feat. C.A.R.] - Mirror Me 05 Mickey - It's My Man {Sigala [feat. Bryn Christopher] - Sweet Lovin' would fit in here but was big for me in 2015 too} 06 MK & Becky Hill - Piece Of Me 07 TheFatRat [feat. Laura Brehm] - Monody 08 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza [SeeB Remix] 09 Zonderling [feat. Bishøp] - Crazy For You 10 Matoma & Astrid S - Running Out I'd probably expect MK/Becky Hill to end up overtaking everything but the current top 2, also I could see overtaking some of the songs here the following; Calvin & Rihanna 'This Is What You Came For', SeeB feat. Neev 'Breathe' and TheFatRat feat. Laura Brehm 'The Calling'. |

1. David Bowie - Blackstar
2. Ellie Goulding - Army 3. twenty one pilots - Stressed Out 4. Rihanna ft. Drake - Work 5. Tinie Tempah ft. Zara Larsson - Girls Like Special mentions: Beyoncé ft. Jack White - 'Don't Hurt Yourself' + David Bowie - 'Tis A Pity She Was a Whore' (and then loads of BJSC stuff like NZCA Lines - 'Two Hearts', Imany – 'Don't Be So Shy (Filatov & Karas Remix)', DJDS - 'In The Flames' etc) 'Blackstar' has been the song that has blown my mind the most this year, so good. And 'Army' is mainly up there due to personal reasons - a real beauty. Beyoncé - 'Hold Up' has probably been the worst chart hit this year so far, off the top of my head. *shudders* |
