Would love to see Ireland progress through to the World Cup.

Disappointed Canada missed out. Nepal and Ireland are the two teams I’d like to see progress to the World Cup.

Ireland are set to face India in a T20 international this summer as part of their preparations for this year's World Cup in Australia.

The Irish have not faced India in any format since June 2018.

India dominated that two-match series in Malahide, securing 76 and 143-run victories.

Ireland secured their spot at the T20 World Cup on Tuesday with a 56-run win over hosts Oman in the Qualifier semi-final.

Having assured their seventh straight appearance at the World Cup, Ireland will meet the UAE in the Qualifier final in Muscat on Thursday. The UAE have also qualified for the World Cup.

I think the next qualification stage is around July August where the last teams will join the World Cup.

Former Australia wicketkeeper Rod Marsh is in a critical condition after suffering a heart attack.

The 74-year-old effected 355 dismissals in 96 Test appearances for Australia.

Marsh also played 92 one-day internationals before retiring in 1984 and served as Australia men's chairman of selectors until 2016.

Australia all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner will miss their opening Women's World Cup game against England on Saturday after testing positive for Covid-19.

Gardner is also ruled out of their second match, against Pakistan on 8 March, as she must isolate for 10 days.

The 24-year-old averages 24.82 with the bat and has taken 43 wickets in 42 one-day international appearances.

The World Cup begins on Friday, with hosts New Zealand taking on West Indies at Mount Maunganui.

England fell just short of a record chase in a nerve-shredding defeat by Australia in their opening match of the Women's World Cup in Hamilton.

Set 311, the defending champions were taken agonisingly close by a magnificent 109 not out from Nat Sciver.

Needing 16 from the final over, bowled by Jess Jonassen, England could only manage three to end on 298-8 and lose by 12 runs.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes says he felt he "let the team down" in their heavy Ashes defeat in Australia.

The 30-year-old returned to action for the series in December after taking four months off to protect his mental well-being and rest an injured finger.

He claimed a total of just four wickets and only twice scored more than 50 runs as England lost the Ashes 4-0.

"The thing that grinds me the most, that hurts me the most is that I let a lot of other people down," he said.

"One of my reflections on the tour as a whole was I personally felt that I let the team down, for more than just performances. I would have liked to be in better physical shape when I was in Australia.

"I never want to feel like that again because it was hard to take when you do sit down and reflect on things that don't go quite well and Australia was one of them."

India suffered a fright against Pakistan before coming through to win by 107 runs in the Women's World Cup.

A collapse of five wickets for 18 runs saw India slip to 114-6 on a blameless surface in Tauranga.

But Pooja Vastraka, with 67, and Sneh Rana, who made 53 not out, added 122 to drag the 2017 runners-up to 244-7.

Ravindra Jadeja's superb all-round performance helped India thrash Sri Lanka by an innings and 22 runs on the third day of the first Test in Mohali.

Jadeja backed up his unbeaten 175 in India's sole innings with 4-46 as Sri Lanka were bundled out for 178.

The all-rounder finished with match figures of 9-87 after taking 5-41 in his first innings.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took 4-47 to become India's second leading Test wicket-taker, behind Anil Kumble.

Sri Lanka, responding to India's huge total of 574-8 declared, reached 161-4 on the third day before losing their final six wickets for 13 runs.

They were bowled out for 174 in their first innings before India enforced the follow on.
