I'm happy he's doing so well over here. Jealous is a great song.
Warning, Take Over and of course the Demi collab are my favourites on his album. |

Omg he's so gorgeous in both of the videos! I prefer the "Jealous" performance but it was a good choice of cover anyway. Really loving both versions of this at the moment, it would be a great 'surprise' #1 for the chart this weekend!

The fact that both the Rooftop Boys and Tinashé remixes of this are excellent has kept its replay value so high. I haven't played any other song from '14 anywhere near as much. Modern classic.

He somehow managed to take all the life out of 'King', something I didn't think was possible! Also the singing through his teeth and constant grimacing are a bit irritating but he does have a really great tone.
I'm delighted 'Jealous' is doing so well over here as it's one of the catchiest songs of the last while. I was sure it was destined to be a low top 10 with minimal staying power. This post has been edited by Noahspike: 10th April 2015, 03:47 PM |

The 'OHHHH's in the King cover are actually so nice, they fill the room when you play it aloud. Delighted to see Jealous doing so well, I think it'll have to settle for #2 by a very small margin but as long as it has longevity I don't mind too much.

Sucks this didn't get to #1. Streaming has furthered the generic sound of the UK chart. Very nice debut for Nick considering The Jonas Brothers never amounted to much here commercially.

As I said last week, I preferred Joe's solo work a lot more but it's pleasing to see this do as well as it has. Could he potentially end up being to this decade what Justin Timberlake was to the 00's?

I hope he ends up being big, we need a big male popstar.

Could he potentially end up being to this decade what Justin Timberlake was to the 00's? I was kind of thinking that, especially because 'Chains' is very much JT-esque. I gave the album a listen and it mostly bored me. Aside from the high standard of the first 3 tracks, I did like the Demi collab and 'Take Over'. 'Push' in particular I couldn't last until the end with. |

I think the support from Radio 1 is probably going to be key to breaking him - as indeed it already has. If I remember correctly, it was Trevor Nelson's show that was key in breaking the 'Justified' album as he was playing tracks off it before they even became singles - and some months prior to that, he also played *NSYNC's own 'Girlfriend' remix featuring Nelly that went onto become their biggest hit here. Where Nick probably has a slightly better advantage than JT is that there's been a few years distance between the JoBros splitting and him launching a full scale solo assault, whereas when Justin launched the immediate things springing to most people's minds were that breakup with Britney and his haircut. He can shake off his 'past' as it were a lot quicker because they were always bigger a band in the US than they ever were here. |

The JT comparisons are tempting but imo they're only valid insofar as Nick used to be in a teen-pop group and broke out and has done decently so far. But the JoBros never really held the place in pop culture that *NSYNC did; *NSYNC rode a teen-pop wave that was central to the pop world at the time, but the JoBros, while big for a couple years, had attachments to Disney that I think kind of relegated them to a niche in most people's minds. *NSYNC's status in pop culture brought heft to their breakup and JT's breakout, but the JoBros just kind of fizzled out after a kind-of hiatus (during which Nick made his first stab at a career outside the band—remember this isn't his first) and a failed comeback.
Nick's definitely done well for himself but I don't think his career trajectory is exactly parallel to JT's, and as such I don't think his career will become iconic in the way JT's is. That's not to say he couldn't be a big star on the same level as JT at some point, but I don't think his teen-pop past will define his solo career as much as JT's did for his. |

Justin Timberlake was an absolute phenomenon, Nick Jonas has 1.5 hit singles. There's absolutely no comparison at all.

^Agreed^. Nick will most likely be forgotten about very soon whereas JT can still rack up the hits to this day.

I really doubt Nick is going to be forgotten about that soon, and JT's last era hardly served out many hits.

I mean it's obvious there's only 3 singles on this album (surprised "Chains" has managed further success) but bar "Teacher" and "Avalanche" nothing else is that exciting.
BUT he has an interesting career ahead. |

I really don't get all the attention being given to Nick Jonas right now. He's nothing special at all. He has an ok voice. His song is pretty average, nothing great. He's a real poser and think's he is better than he actually is.
