BJSC 165
Twin Tribes - Monolith

A second placer is always going to be difficult to follow-up but we're giving it a go with the Jadakissnia bait genre tags of: coldwave, darkwave, goth rock, new wave and post-punk. Our 2001: A Space Odyssey themed teaser was in fact a nod to the title of our latest entry, 'Monolith' by the very promising duo Twin Tribes. Vocalist Luis Navarro provides a commanding vocal performance set to a back-drop of irresistible synths and contrasting guitar work. The accompanying video is striking as we watch a dark metamorphosis unfold.

Unfortunately, we missed out on the chance to auto-qualify on this occasion, instead we can be found in slot #12 of semi final 1.

BJSC 165 Results
Twin Tribes - Monolith

4th place | 279 points

We are delighted to share that our bounce back from the double DNQ earlier this year was not a one off, as we achieved a second top 5 result in a row! This was not just any placement, as Twin Tribes unlocked a unique position for us... in fact the only one we had left to collect in the top 10 - as that elusive 4th is finally ours.

This was not the only first time achievement however... as 'Monolith' followed up 'I want to be with you' to be our first ever pair of back-to-back semi-final winners, incredible stuff!

Thank you so much for all the support behind this entry heart.gif the people of Jadakissnia have been truly obsessed with it.

Particular shoutouts go to the following nations who awarded us these points:

18 - Aeroche + Bronzil
15 - Abeltesfayeton, Danćviia, Persephonia + Terra Avium
13 - Pestolia + Utopia
12 - Neliönoir
11 - Kluminican Republic + Séyetana
10 - Aesthetica + Yobnedorica

Them Are Us Too - Floor

This time we decided to continue down the darkwave path started last month. However, we are now represented by female vocals. The lead singer of Them Are Us Too is Kennedy Ashlyn who has released solo music under the name SRSQ as well. Her powerful voice commands the intense 'Floor' as she repeatedly cries out: "I should have asked for more... I wasn't cut out for this". Unfortunately, this is partly a posthumous entry, as the other half of the duo Cash Askew was heartbreakingly killed in the Ghost Ship warehouse fire back in 2016, at just 22 years old. Ashlyn finished off the work they had started on this project and 'Floor' was later released in 2018 - before she then understandably retired the Them Are Us Too project and moved into solo work. BJSC legends Drab Majesty paid tribute to Askew via a song called 'Oak Wood' released the year after her death. Them Are Us Too had previously supported the group on tour as they shared the same label. Ashlyn has also previously namedropped Boy Harsher as friends, so they've been in very good company in the world of darkwave. We hope this striking piece of music goes down well with BJSC participants!
