The 2nd single is Dangerous Woman (the title track), and is out on the 11th March! http://www.josepvinaixa.com/blog/ariana-grande-dangerous-woman-single/

Nice birthday present for me *.*

Is she really selling this for $30??

I can do the same on VistaPrint for £3.

Question: why is this thread not in Pop?

Everything Ariana is in RnB by default regardless of the genre. Unless she's featuring in a song whose lead artist fits in another genre.

Posted by: dijeizasin 10th March 2016, 11:20 AM

But Ariana is pop?

Posted by: Vülker 10th March 2016, 12:07 PM

Uh-oh. They're going for that Weeknd-like sound. I don't think this'll particularly work as well for Ariana.

Why are they not putting out 'Be Alright' first? The Tropical-Pop lane is here she should be focusing - she sounds stellar on Major Lazer's 'All My Love' and her remix of 'What Do You Mean'.

Posted by: Davidson 10th March 2016, 03:52 PM

not at this already slaying me and already becoming my favourite ariana single from just a snippet

that kind of rock-pop vibe is everything. really giving me 'earned it' meets 'kiss it better' which is wonderful seeing as the latter is my favourite song of 2016 so far. really love the fact it is such an unexpected sound from her and that the chorus sounds like it will be everything after that being the major problem with the previous single

let's hope the full thing lives up to it, but it sounds incredible

I'm so excited for this to be released. w00t.gif w00t.gif

This is basically Bruno Mars' "Gorilla" but with a lower burn rate and actually GOOD

SNL PERFORMANCE ON MARCH 12

This sounds absolutely brilliant, indeed! Really excited for the full thing now.

But Ariana is pop?

don't most POPSTARS tend to be?

Posted by: Liаm 11th March 2016, 05:45 AM

OMG THIS SONG IS EVERYTHING

I think this sort of sound really suits her big voice, it gives the power as well as subtlety which is a killer combo.

This is so brilliant. I think I'm going to like this more than Focus. Sounds massive. wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

Posted by: notfurlong 11th March 2016, 08:59 AM

this is AMAZING

Posted by: RobotKing 11th March 2016, 09:58 AM

I can't work out if this sounds like a hit or not BUT I think it's really fantastic, very instant aswell!

Posted by: JoeTheSats 11th March 2016, 10:00 AM

Same as Rob, I really like it but don't know how well it'll do commercially. Huge step up from the terrible Focus.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 11th March 2016, 10:18 AM

It's got that Weeknd vibe about it...

Posted by: Vülker 11th March 2016, 10:58 AM

It's a good track, but can't see how they thought this would make a good single? I'm all up for being shut up when this becomes a long running hit.

Posted by: Davidson 11th March 2016, 11:15 AM

yeah, this is by far and away her best single she has released so far. just feels like such a moment and it is everything i love in a pop song

it may not be the most instant big hit with all of the public but i can see it creeping up on people and ending up being more stable and more of a long-running hit than 'focus' despite maybe having a low peak position or something like that. i hope so anyway wub.gif

Posted by: Totto 11th March 2016, 11:46 AM

I lost my wig sad.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt 11th March 2016, 12:14 PM

On first listen I quite like it! It's sexy.

I find it does drag a bit towards the end though. I like 'Focus', but it was essentially a photocopy of 'Problem' and this feels like more of a risk.

Posted by: Cremey 11th March 2016, 01:39 PM

Yeah this is great.
She'd better not do her usual cute girl eye flutter thing in the video though, that'll completely kill it..

Posted by: Atonement 11th March 2016, 01:51 PM

On first listen I don't really hear what everyone else is hearing. In terms of singles I'd only rank it above 'Break Free' for now.

Posted by: johnjo07 11th March 2016, 02:28 PM

It's brilliant. I agree with those who say that they're not sure if it's a hit or not, but it's SO good. This is definitely needed in the charts though as, although it sounds familiar, it's really not at all! wub.gif

Still no 'One Last Time', but I highly doubt she'll come close to that for me!

Posted by: Ryan. 11th March 2016, 02:33 PM

Very good, much better than I was expecting from the preview! Sounds like a much bigger hit to me than anything else she's released since Problem really, very current, very trendy.

Posted by: burbe 11th March 2016, 03:56 PM

This is so much better than Focus! Really liking it on first listen!

Posted by: Jimmy Jam 11th March 2016, 05:31 PM

Completely flawless. I LOVED Focus, but this is on like another level for me, number 5 on iTunes, hoping it can hold steady and be a big hit for her wub.gif

Posted by: Dobbo 12th March 2016, 10:26 AM

Don't like it on first listen. Focus was much better.

Might change my mind in a month though but this is staying off my playlist for now.

Posted by: hotchoc26 12th March 2016, 11:06 AM

Not that keen on this one, but then again I've always been more enthusiastic on her more dance/pop music.

Posted by: Jade 12th March 2016, 02:18 PM

Ooh yes THIS is more like it! wub.gif After the utter atrocity of 'Focus' I'm so glad she's brought it this time.

It has an old school feel to it but with current trends mixed in all the same. So instant!

Posted by: Jake 12th March 2016, 02:27 PM

jade r u a dangerous woman? ohmy.gif

Posted by: SevenSeize 12th March 2016, 03:09 PM

Yay Ariana back on form again biggrin.gif liking this one

Posted by: jase. 14th March 2016, 09:41 PM

This is anthemic wub.gif

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 14th March 2016, 10:09 PM

Starting to get obsessed on this, utterly lush! She also sounds incredible on the track and the production is lush heart.gif

Easily in my top 3 for Ariana already, along with Break Free and Problem (can see it overtaking the latter very soon though!)

Surprised no one's posted the music video for DW yet

It's kinda boring but whatevs

Posted by: mr_pmt 21st April 2016, 05:15 PM

It's an uneventful video, but she looks so amazing. As in not just pretty, but actually sexy!

Posted by: shmyyy 22nd May 2016, 04:00 PM

I think this song should be listed in pop section. offtopic.gif

Posted by: Devan 22nd May 2016, 04:18 PM

Have you actually listened to her album?

Posted by: HarryEzra 22nd May 2016, 04:23 PM

No the album is WAY more RNB than pop so its in the right section biggrin.gif

Posted by: Atonement 22nd May 2016, 04:55 PM

This album is pure pop. Sure there's R&B influences but there's also a lot 90s dance influences. The core of the album is as pop as pop music gets.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 24th May 2016, 11:57 PM

It's in the same league as The Weeknd's recent album genre wise.

Posted by: Jade 26th October 2021, 01:12 PM

AJ and Kai are dancing to 'Dangerous Woman' on Strictly Come Dancing this weekend cheeseblock.png it's for Halloween week, a bit tenuous, but why not laugh.gif

I think this is the first time that a solo Ariana song has been used on the show - there was 'Faith' and 'Stuck With U' in the past. Bring on the iTunes boost kink.gif

Posted by: Jade 30th October 2021, 08:28 PM

Re-enters the iTunes chart at #47 so far thanks to this *.* hopefully will crack the top 40 soon as it hasn't been too long since the show finished! Probably only needs a few sales laugh.gif

Edit: up to #31 cheer.gif get those sales

Posted by: DangerousJulian 30th October 2021, 10:10 PM

So great to see!! cheer.gif

*.* Happy International Women's Day! I may have to put this song on when Spotify decides to work again today kink.gif

6 years ohmy.gif

Posted by: Jade 11th March 2022, 10:19 PM

Wow 6 years since my favourite Ariana era began! Time flies, was in my first year of Uni back then and remember the music video coming on a lot on 4Music, when they actually played music a lot more laugh.gif it has aged like fine wine so far - similar to Rihanna's 'Kiss It Better' from the time, a main pop girl going down a more rock route production-wise.

Posted by: Jade 11th March 2023, 10:28 AM

Today marks 7 years since 'Dangerous Woman' was released as a single ohmy.gif

This used to be my favourite single from this era, which has switched to 'Into You' in time, but it's still great and was a vocal highlight when seeing her live wub.gif

Posted by: JLJ 11th March 2023, 01:38 PM

Quite a risk to have this a lead now we’ve heard the whole album and seen what huge pop moments there are on there!

I do like this as a track though it’s not top tier but I like it and it’s aged well and I love the video!

An Ariana lead peaking at #17 will likely never happen again though! The Dangerous Woman eras singles peaks especially in the UK are such in injustice!

It's fascinating to look back at the peaks of her leads!

The Way: #41
Problem: #1
Dangerous Woman: #17
no tears left to cry: #2
thank u, next: #1
positions: #1

#1-#17 doesn't look brilliant on paper but it had a great chart run considering; it was the same with 'Into You' despite missing the top 10. Of course both were released when the streaming ratio was inflated too so their sales also look great. I wonder if 'Into You' would've cracked top 10 as a lead. Then again, 'Dangerous Woman' did get there in the U.S.!

Posted by: LewisGT 11th March 2023, 05:43 PM

7 years ago is scary!

I love 'Dangerous Woman' as a lead single. It certainly felt like a risky move and the lower peak proves it but the track is one of her best for me.

Posted by: Jade 11th March 2024, 02:54 PM

This song turns 8 years old today! Happy birthday to the start of a truly great album campaign heart.gif (I feel like we're in another one of those right now *.*)
