Whilst the 'Avīci' EP was released yesterday afternoon, I will be holding off charting them until next week when they've had more than half a day. So this week you could call the calm before the storm I guess. And calm it is, with absolutely no new entries in the top 10!!! At #1 remains Calvin Harris and his posse, whose 'Feels' may end up being the second snap #1 of the year with the UK singles chart, following 'Symphony' earlier this year. It is the sixth week spent at the top which equals the time spent by 'This Is What You Came For'. It also (kinda) equals 'My Way' which spent seven weeks overall, but only six of them consecutively. Jax Jones remains at #2 again, also for six consecutive weeks though it did of course peak at #1. DJ Licious was announced as a qualifier to this month's BJSC but the subsequent boost was not enough for it to break into the top 2. 'I Hear You Calling' remains at #3. Duke Dumont and Gorgon City remain at #4 with 'Real Life' and the top five is completed by Lucas & Steve, back up one place to #5 with 'Up Till Dawn (On The Move)'. Last week's #5 single 'Game of Thrones (Remix)' dives down to #11. As a result TheFatRat, DJ Khaled, John Gibbons and Sonny Fodera all climb one place each to numbers 6 through 9 respectively. A re-entry to the top 10 comes from Danny L Harle at #10 with '1UL', up from last week's #12. Elsewhere in the top 40 climbers come from J Balvin & Willy William with 'Mi Gente' (up 26-22), Vitalic & La Bien Querida with 'Tu Conmigo' (up 31-25), Arcade Fire with 'Everything Now' (up 34-26), Dua Lipa with 'New Rules' (up 35-27), Enrique Iglesias et al. with 'Subeme La Radio' (up 36-29) and Cardi B with 'Bodak Yellow' (up 39-33). Four songs enter the top 40 this week. The first of these comes from US rapper 21 Savage with 'Bank Account'. He previously featured on a Drake single but not one that made the chart, it is thus his first hit single here entering at #28. At #35 is the first top 40 hit for English house producer Weiss, also known as Weiss (UK). The song is titled 'You're Sunshine' which may look like a grammatical error but it is not. The song was actually released a year ago but has finally made this chart as I discovered it from a recent dance compilation. Swiss producer EDX enters at #38 with 'Bloom'. It becomes his 11th top 40 single which includes six top 10 hits, one of them a #1. The final new entry is at #39, the first hit for English rapper Yungen, 'Bestie' which also features Yxng Bane. |

Hi Dan
Glad to see 21 Savage enter your top 50 already - I get why it's not everyone's cup of tea on Buzzjack but I'm really enjoying it right now. Finding it pretty catchy - hoping it can be one of the next US rap hits to cross over a la XO Tour Llif3 Not really getting Subeme La Radio at the moment, finding it a bit annoying tbh and even though I'm sick to death of it due to overplay, I'd rather just listen to Despacito tbh It's a shame Bailando wasn't released now we've reached the Latin trend in chart hits, that was a massive jam Pleased to see Bestie make the top 50 here too, I didn't love it at first but I've had the chorus stuck in my head lots recently. Really pleasing to see more UK rap tracks like this do well in the charts, definitely a good time with the likes of Stormzy and Skepta too recently Loving Havana at the moment, it's very Selena-esque which is definitely no bad thing. I always found CITC a bit cringe so I'm pleased she's come back with two fabulous tracks - I'm hoping at least one of them takes off in some way even if is one is my favourite of the two. I'm pleased for Charli XCX for coming back with another hit single but I find Boys pretty dull tbh - it doesn't really go anywhere. The video is great though so no surprise to see that helping it take off so quickly. I'm in the camp of very few who far preferred After the Afterparty if I'm being honest. Lovely chart Dan!! |

Hi Dan!
Expecting Feels to be #1 for the rest of the year in your chart Great to see Everything Now climbing, would have loved it to go Top 40 officially but reaching #50 is an achievement nonetheless! Hoping New Rules can go #1 officially on Friday! Great chart |

Hey Dan,
I'm sorry I've not made an effort to comment on your chart in a while, but I hope that can change in the future! That chart run for Feels is incredible. Is it the longest run at #1 for any Calvin Harris single yet? I thought DJ Licious may have been #1 here but I was mistaken, but still a very worthy entry from South Danaelanda! That #17 chart run for Clean Bandit though after so many weeks at #1. Other personal highlights are Sigala, ALMA, J Balvin and Willy William, Jax Jones, Arcade Fire, Dua Lipa, Bakermat and Yungen. Please be sure to check out my chart for this week — Top 40 Countdown by awardinary (W/E 17/08/2017). Awesome chart! |

Hi Dan - yeah I would really like it to crossover. seems likely as it is really smashing in the US at the moment.Glad to see 21 Savage enter your top 50 already - I get why it's not everyone's cup of tea on Buzzjack but I'm really enjoying it right now. - oddly I'm finding myself liking it even more than Despacito, already peaked 11 places higher in my chart, even though they are essentially the same song. also as it hasn't suffered from mass over exposure. - yeah Bestie is just the kind of song we need in the chart, the likes of Yungen and J Hus are really keeping the chart fresh, it's always good to have British urban music chart well. - I've seen people compare it with Same Old Love but I don't buy into that because it is much better. It's growing on me a bit now I'd say I prefer it to CITC overall so hope it smashes. - I didn't like Afterparty so Boys is well a step up though my favourite Charli tracks seem to be the ones that don't chart like 1 Night and 3AM. thanks Josh! Hi Dan! - I can tell you now Feels will not be #1 next week, with Avicii having released. You can definitely expect Avicii to be #1 for the rest of the year though!Expecting Feels to be #1 for the rest of the year in your chart Great to see Everything Now climbing, would have loved it to go Top 40 officially but reaching #50 is an achievement nonetheless! Hoping New Rules can go #1 officially on Friday! Great chart - Would be nice to see an indie song like Everything Now in the official top 40 but it was never to be, it did well for itself though. - Would love to see that happen. thanks Pete! Hi! - Seems to be rising up the chart very quickly, great to see.More Than Friends is such a tune, glad to see it's gonna make the top 40 this week Bloom is a good new entry but idk if it matches up to some of his previous stuff Coco Jamboo so close to your top 40 Great Chart!! - It's not his best by any means but still a banger and the first EDX song I've put in my top 40 this year. - Perhaps it could make it, it's not too late. thanks BridgeCow! Hey Dan, - No actually, as mentioned in the chart analysis 'My Way' spent 7 weeks on top.I'm sorry I've not made an effort to comment on your chart in a while, but I hope that can change in the future! - Great to hear, hope we can swap big points this contest! - I only noticed myself how long they've spent at #17, bit of an oddity in its run. Seems likely to fall out of the top 20 next week though as there'll be six big new entries (no prizes for guessing). thanks Wardy! |

Hey Dan!
Pre-Avicii chart, the true calm before the storm Avicii will certainly be taking over my chart Tuesday too (although I'm only charting my three favs to stop a complete Avicii clog-up ) Great to see John Gibbons still Top 10 The longevity of Mask Off in your Top 20 is something to marvel at I wasn't the biggest fan of it at first but the Kendrick Lamar remix swayed me and now the remix version is a regular tune Loving the climbs for Arcade Fire, Dua Lipa, Enrique Iglesias, and Yungen! A total of 4 weeks at #89 for The Killers Great chart as always! |

Hey Dan! - ha yes, I hope you're looking forward to the Avicii takeover.Pre-Avicii chart, the true calm before the storm Avicii will certainly be taking over my chart Tuesday too (although I'm only charting my three favs to stop a complete Avicii clog-up ) Great to see John Gibbons still Top 10 The longevity of Mask Off in your Top 20 is something to marvel at I wasn't the biggest fan of it at first but the Kendrick Lamar remix swayed me and now the remix version is a regular tune Loving the climbs for Arcade Fire, Dua Lipa, Enrique Iglesias, and Yungen! A total of 4 weeks at #89 for The Killers Great chart as always! - I've yet to seek out the Kendrick remix, can't see it beating the original tbh. - Good to see you like the chart climbers this week. - I think that will remain their peak too, unless it gets another resurgence. thanks Dexton. Hiya Thermo, here are my favourite songs of the week! - yes it will definitely end but it's still my #1 non-Avicii song. Great chart and a phenomenal run at #1 at Feels but I can see that is about to end Nice to see Dua climb this week, the song is such a bop! Great chart this week! - it's great seeing it do so well, one of my faves from her too. thanks Tombo. |
