11 singles, 44 rates.
I've now worked out the scores, and will begin on the commentary shortly, kicking off the results tomorrow.
In the mean time, what do you think has won? It could easily have been one of a few songs....What has come last... Well, that wasn't even close. No prizes for guessing.
I'm hoping something like Move or DNA will win
Justice (a teaspoon of) for Word Up
I think Black Magic might win, but it'll be close between that and Move with DNA in 3rd, I'd predict.
I'm going to guesssss:
01. 'Black Magic'
02. 'Move'
03. 'DNA'
04. 'Wings'
05. 'Salute'
06. 'Love Me Like You'
07. 'Little Me'
08. 'How You Doin'?'
09. 'Change Your Life'
10. 'Cannonball'
11. 'Word Up'
However, I reckon it could be close between the top 2 and either one of them become victorious. 7, 8 & 9 could be inter-changeable too. I would love CYL to out do the other 2, but I think the other two have a bit more support on here.
For me since the rate I have started liking Love Me Like You a lot more, especially now everytime I hear it I sing "F*** me like you!".
11th: Word Up!
Average: 4.43
Feelin’ like it’s their Birthday; billy. (10),
Lives in the shadow; JosephStyles (-1), Joe.(-1), LeeWallace (-1), Calum Hood (-1), Aled. (-1), colinn (-1), Danvicii (0), AdamAloud (0), Mike Sugafan (1), SeanGrey (1)
No surprises here. This uninspired charity cover single that luckily managed a top 10 peak, but is one of their lowest selling efforts to date. Word Up!, I felt hindered the Salute campaign a little. Thank god for ‘Salute’.
10th: Cannonball
Average: 5.91
Feelin’ like it’s their Birthday; Ultraviolence1989 (10), Insomnio (9), Danvicii (8.5)
Lives in the shadow; 666chris (0), Aled. (1), Taylor Jago (2), #psychic7 (2)
From on uninspiring cover to another, I don’t find ‘Cannonball’ generally THAT bad, it’s just a bit forgettable, when you consider that we have actually had some half-decent X Factor winner’s singles. Having this and ‘Word Up!’ out straight away means we have a full-on Little Mix original top 9. More coming tomorrow!
(also - what awful artwork)

Good to see Cannonball out so early.
Shame to see both of those out so early, Word Up is really fun and Cannonball is beautiful! Would be around 7th/8th for me!
Can I just double check with you Joe that my votes were counted as I gave a 10 to both Word Up and Cannonball
Not surprised at that bottom two. It's the only 2 in the whole countdown I felt confident about being in the right positions in my predicta above. Everything else is going to misfire!
I find them both incredibly enjoyable though. 'Word Up!' I really like, in the same way that I really like The Saturdays 'Just Can't Get Enough' cover. It's fun, carefree and for charity, so not bad efforts. 'Cannonball' is still my favourite winner's single! I really love it and feel it's really under appreciated.
9th: How Ya Doin’ Ft. Missy Elliott
Average: 6.98
Feelin’ like it’s their Birthday; Ezra's Whore (11), JosephStyles (11), billy. (10), Slick (10), KWEEN_DEE (10), Taylor Jago (10), AaronTM (10), 666chris (10)
Lives in the shadow; Calum Hood (0), Mike Sugafan (2), Halloqween (3), Cameron (3)
‘How Ya Doin’’ ended up with a lot more 10s than I expected for a song this low down. However, it’s still their lowest original song, and even guest rapper Missy can’t help this chart any higher here. I would agree that this is their weakest DNA single but it’s not offensive to the ears by any means.
I consider that as a really catchy song from them.
8th: Little Me
Average: 7.04
Feelin’ like it’s their Birthday; Mike Sugafan (10), AdamAloud (10), SeanGrey (10), Liаm (9), Taylor Jago (9)
Lives in the shadow; Electro Paradise (0), 666chris (0), Froot. (3),
Word Up! in its rightful last place spot. How Ya Doin'? way too low though, easily their best single for me
That's the correct bottom 3, none of them are very good. Shame to see Little Mix out in 8th, it's easily the best single (and song) from Salute, but I always knew it would struggle. Just so long as the vastly overrated Move doesn't win.
I really really love their cover of Cannonball, possibly my X Factor winners single of choice. Word Up is perhaps a deserved last place but not -1 worthy by any means imo.
Hated How Ya Doin' when the album was first released but it's such an earworm, probably my favourite single from the first era now! Little Me, meh, rather bland.
The correct song is in last place for sure!
I would have liked to see Change Your Life out by now, I think Little Me is superior to it out of the original ballads.
7th: Change Your Life
Average: 7.5
Feelin’ like it’s their Birthday; Pippa (11), Mike Sugafan (11), Calum Hood (10)
Lives in the shadow; Electro Paradise (-1),
Doing fairly decently in this rate is the first song released by the girls that missed the UK top 10. This got a lot of middling scores from Buzzjack, with few 10s and 11s but also very few low scores. I can see what the talky verses might have annoyed some people, but despite its slightly cheesy sentiment, I do think this is a good song. I remember it being hammered by Radio 1 when it was released.
Which poor floppy hen missed the top 5?
Probably Salute for 6th place, or Love Me Like You. Would be shocked if it was anything else.
Could see it being 'Wings' to be fair.
One of John or Adam got it....
It's going well for me so far
Wings to hopefully be next.
6th: Wings
Average: 8.06
Feelin’ like it’s their Birthday; Halloqween (10), Ultraviolence1989 (10), Electro Paradise (10), Slick (10), Jaÿ (10), Acidburn (10), Taylor Jago (10), Insomnio (10)
Lives in the shadow; Cameron (-1), 666chris (2)
Little Mix’s first proper single comes in 6th here, despite an impressive 8+ average. Wings was a strong opener for their first album, but I do feel as if Little Mix have out-done this many a time since, even with the single that came straight after.
Not even ONE 11 for 'Wings'! This shocks me.
Oh wow, that's stupid. I mean I didn't expect (or want) it to win but to be below both of the rubbish singles from Salute AND Love Me Like You is, in a word, stupid.
Great results so far and the perfect top 5 left = "DNA", "Move", "Salute", "Black Magic" and "Love Me Like You", here's what I think the top 5 will be =
01. Black Magic
02. DNA
03. Move
04. Salute
05. Love Me Like You
01 Black Magic
02 DNA
03 Move
04 Love Me Like You
05 Salute
plz
01 Black Magic
02 Salute
03 Move
04 DNA
05 Love Me Like You
is my personal order, I could see #1 and #5 being the case, just jig around 2, 3 and 4.
Predictions:
01 Move
02 Black Magic (this could also be #1)
03 Salute
04 Love Me Like You
05 DNA
Personal reshuffle:
01 Move 9.5
02 Salute 9
03 DNA 8.5
04 Love Me Like You 8
05 Black Magic (couldn't decide whether I liked this more than LMLY or not) 8
I want:
01 DNA
02 Black Magic
03 Love Me Like You
04 Salute
05 Move
Though, I think this is a bit more likely:
01 Black Magic
02 Move (ugh)
03 DNA
04 Salute
05 Love Me Like You
Final results coming tonight.
Great top five for me! (Excluding DNA, of course, tragic)
5th: Love Me Like You

L.O.V.E
Currently Little Mix’s lowest peaking single (though, I can see it out-peaking ‘How Ya Doin’’ in the next couple of weeks, ‘Love Me Like You’ was Little Mix’s first on air single. For many, this didn’t match up to previous platinum selling mega-hit ‘Black Magic’. But for others, it was quite the grower. This Christmassy-feeling motown-esque number is another change in direction for Little Mix, but it’s now proving to be a slow-burning hit for the girls regardless. It won’t be a top 10 hit for them, but it’ll easily out-sell their the others that didn’t make it and is becoming a personal favourite of mine. The Christmas Mix to be on everyone's Christmas playlist next month, please?
4th: Salute
Average: 8.48

Lives in the shadow; Calum Hood (5)
Not getting as many high scores at Love Me Like You, but finishing higher from a almost complete lack of low scores is ‘Salute’ which worryingly started off as another Little Mix underwhelming post-album performance, but due to a spectacular performance on BGT, this flew into the top 10, and became one of Little Mix’s most memorable songs. <3.
I was hoping Salute would be at least top 3 it's catchy as hell.

Two songs, left. It’s close. Which won?
Comments or no top 2.
Hopefully Move is #1 but I think it might just end at #2.
Move to win please
YAY at DNA not being top 2, always found it overrated so now I don't mind which of the remaining tracks wins.
2rd: Black Magic

JUST beating DNA, Little Mix’s biggest hit finishes in 2nd place… which of course means….
1st: Move

Yesss! And the winner is ‘Move’, which scores SIXTEEN 11s! This RNB infused track, despite selling less than ‘Wings’ and ‘Cannonball’ remains their most memorable hit after Black Magic. Congrats ‘Move’, you never get old <3
(sorry if you got missed off the scores roundup, that was a lot of 10s and 11s to include, I THINK I got everyone.)
YASS the right song has won
oh so you didn't counted my changed scores? I have edited them 2 days before u closed, but forgot to let you know!
DNA would prob win with my eleven
average top 2
-1s for Black Magic, DNA and Love Me Like You.... no.
I'd have preferred Move to be like 3rd or 4th but it's an amazing song as shown by my 10 <3
Yay, the correct winner - nice one Buzzjack!
Catchy as it is, 'Black Magic' winning wouldn't have felt right as it's little more than a faceless attempt at a radio hit done right, whereas 'Move' was inventive and made a statement about the group's sound, while being equally as infectious in the process. I agree with Joe that the song just doesn't seem to age, and I imagine its appeal will hold up better than most of their back catalogue in years to come.
A very strong top five and an enjoyable rate overall. Cheers for doing it, Joe!
YEYYYYY Move so deserves the top spot!
So relieved DNA didn't win. I can see why you all love it but it's just so incredibly boring for me. Black Magic coming second really did surprise me though!
Ugh. Move winning is just about the worst possible result for me. Compared to Black Magic, DNA (and Wings, which was sadly never in contention) which are dripping in melody it's so flat and tuneless. I'm not really a fan of their more R&B tracks anyway (or the genre in general) so I'm obviously not the target audience, but to see two undeniable pop smashes lose out to it saddens me.
Really couldn't argue with any of the order of the top 4 tbh. Any of the four would've been worthy winners, imo. 'Salute' is just a smash. Always has been! So pleased it's become pretty much a staple in their discography. 'DNA' is pop perfection as is 'Black Magic'. Seriously 2 of the best pop songs in the last 10 years at least! 'Move' is also brilliant for how unique and how much of a risk it is/was for any artist, never mind a girl group from X Factor launching a second album. It's definitely the one that's aged the least, I agree. <3
Thank you so, SO much for doing this Joe. Really loved it.
If anyone else fancies hosting a rate of some sorts in this forum, then just send me or Robot (or Casey, but he's never here so you'll probs never get a reply ) a PM and we'll seeeee!
Thanks Joe! *.* Move is a VERY worthy winner. <3
Amazing result, "Move" and "Black Magic", either one would have been the perfect winner, but glad it was "Move" that won in the end, they continue to get better with each album and are just well brilliant. They haven't put a foot wrong yet (apart from the dire "Word Up")
